Author’s pov~

Adeline kept her cold, sweet smile fixed directly on Chloe.

Chloe’s face was twisted in a knot of sheer rage, her teeth biting so hard into her lower lip that it looked ready to bleed as she forced herself to keep her mouth shut in front of the classroom.

Seeing Chloe’s composure completely unravelling, Logan immediately stepped forward, his heavy Alpha aura flaring in a desperate attempt to regain control of the room. His brows pulled down into a furious scowl as he glared at Adeline.

"Adeline, that is not how you talk to her!" Logan snapped, his deep voice carrying a harsh, demanding edge. "You don’t get to stand there and frame her as whatever kind of person you want! Who the hell do you think you are?! You are crossing your line, Adeline!"

"Am I?" Adeline cut him off smoothly, her tone so calm and effortless that it instantly silenced his lingering anger.

She tilted her head down slowly, her dark eyes dropping to scan the polished marble floor beneath her sneakers, as if genuinely searching for something on the smooth stone.

A slow, mockingly thoughtful expression settled over her face as she looked back up at the furious Alpha twin.

"Was I ever told there was a line drawn?" Adeline asked softly, her dark eyes glinting with dangerous, playful mockery.

Did she really check the floor to see if there was any line drawn?

lol!

Logan stood there entirely confused, his left eyebrow raising sharply as his mouth parted to speak. "What are you talking about—"

"I mean," Adeline continued, resting her hands deeper into her hoodie pockets as she took a slow, casual half-step forward, "I’m looking down right now... and I really, truly couldn’t see any lines drawn anywhere on this floor. Could you? Or did you pull another invisible rule out of thin air to make yourself feel like you’re still in control?"

Sierra couldn’t hold it back this time—a soft, loud burst of laughter escaped her lips before she slapped her hands back over her face, her eyes practically teary with delight.

Down the middle rows, several highborn noble students gasped in utter disbelief, while a few lower-ranking Alphas buried their faces in their hands to hide their snickers.

At the front of the aisle, the dark, suffocating wrath that had been consuming Lord Raven suddenly cracked.

The corners of his sharp, ruthless lips almost curved upward into a subtle, dangerous smile, his dark eyes fixed on Adeline with a strange, intense gleam.

Beside him, Lord Kieran’s head dropped slightly as a low chuckle escaped his chest, a rare, amused smile breaking across his handsome, calculating face.

Lord Blake’s lethal smirk returned, his arms crossed over his chest as he shook his head in quiet awe, while Lord Zyran’s dark eyes softened just a fraction, a dark flicker of amusement dancing in his gaze.

They were clearly, undeniably captivated by this untamed, sharp side of her.

Adeline looked at the three stunned transfers, her smile widening into something cold, dark, and utterly untouchable.

They should have realised by now that she is not someone they should mess with on their very first day if they wanted to keep up their highborn act.

Well, no problem if they didn’t. She will make them realise.

"So tell me, Logan," Adeline whispered, her voice cutting through the hushed room like glass. "If there was never a line to begin with... how exactly did you come to the conclusion that I crossed it?"

Logan’s teeth ground together with a harsh, grating sound, his jaw muscles bulging as his hands curled into violent, white-knuckled fists.

A harsh, disbelieving scoff tore from his throat, but before he could bark out another command, Chloe quickly stepped in front of him.

Her polished, sweet expression had returned, though a faint tremor near the corner of her eye gave away how rattled she truly was.

She clasped her hands together in front of her waist, looking up at Adeline with a look of delicate, sorrowful pity that made Sierra gag under her breath.

"Adeline... please," Chloe said softly, her voice carrying a pleading tone that echoed through the quiet room.

"I know you must be feeling bad. I know you’re probably furious at us for everything that happened in the past, but you really shouldn’t talk to Logan like that. We aren’t here to fight with you. We’re just... genuinely concerned about you."

Adeline let out a dry, breathy scoff that cut right through Chloe’s delicate act.

"Concerned?" Adeline repeated, her voice dripping with venomous mockery as she took a slow, deliberate step forward, her hands still resting casually inside her hoodie pockets. "Concerned about what, Chloe? Concerned about how I survived? Or concerned about how I am still alive?"

Before Chloe could piece together another rehearsed lie,

Lucas shoved his way past his brother. His Alpha aura flared, hot and oppressive, as he stared down at Adeline with a mixture of wounded pride and dark, condescending amusement.

A wicked smirk slowly spread across his handsome face.

"How did you even end up here, Adeline?" Lucas asked, his voice sharp, arrogant, and ringing loudly across the silent hall. "Look around you. Look at these prestigious walls, look at these highborn lords. This is not a place for someone like you, and yet here you are, standing right in front of us."

Lucas took a confident step closer to her, his smirk widening as he tilted his head, his eyes scanning her dark, hoodie-draped frame.

"Wait... don’t tell me," Lucas purred, his voice dropping into a low, mocking whisper meant to cut deep.

"You sneaked your way into this academy just so you could come after us, didn’t you? You came all the way here just to beg us to take you back in, didn’t you? You couldn’t survive out there. So, here you are to beg us to take you in, just like how you begged us on your knees that night."

"You’re still trying your manipulative ways to get to us, aren’t you?" Lucas sneered, his eyes gleefully searching her blank face for any sign of weakness.

"You want us that desperately? To pity you? To open our pack gates and take you back in? Is that what you really want, Adeline? Then, you should watch your tone and the way you talk to Chloe and us. And when you are begging for something, it would look more appreciable if you did it on your knees."

OMG! They are so stupidly delusional.
