Deviant Kings: Claimed by The Four Lycan Kings
Chapter 60: I Have Standards!Author’s pov~
For a second, the room held its breath, waiting for the scentless orphan to crumble under the heavy weight of the two Alphas’ humiliation.
Instead, Adeline’s shoulders shook slightly.
A soft, genuine laugh bubbled up from her chest—a quiet, breathless chuckle that quickly grew into a clear, mocking laugh that echoed off.
"Oh..." Adeline breathed, her laugh fading into a cold, lethal smirk. "You still act as if the entire damn world revolves around you, don’t you? You stand here with your highborn title, completely convinced that every breath I take in this room is somehow secretly about you."
"Do you honestly believe you hold that much real estate in my mind, Lucas? That I would waste my time, my energy, and my presence in this academy just to chase after two arrogant Alphas who lack the basic intelligence to see past their own inflated egos? It is almost impressive how pathetically delusional you are."
She took another half-step forward, her expression completely flat and terrifyingly calm.
"Pathetic," Adeline whispered, her voice cutting through the heavy air like a razor blade. "Now tell me, Lucas... who is actually begging for whose attention here?"
Lucas’s smirk faltered slightly, his brow furrowing as Adeline let out another low scoff.
"You know," Adeline continued, her tone smooth, melodic, and chillingly dark, "you highborn Alphas always walk around assuming the entire universe turns on your command. You sit on your high pedestals, wrapped in your fragile ego and silver-spoon authority, convinced that every female who crosses your path is secretly dying for a taste of your precious bloodline maybe... a few would."
At her last words, her gaze voluntarily dropped to Chloe.
"You truly believe your presence is some divine gift we should all be begging on our knees to receive, don’t you? But do you want to know the absolute, unfiltered truth?"
"Even if you both were the very last man left breathing on this entire miserable earth," Adeline said, each word slow, precise, and heavy as iron, "and I was forced to choose between staying alive by your side or lying down to rot in the cold, wet dirt... I would rather die ten horrific times over than ever choose a spineless, arrogant dumbasses like you. You both aren’t a prize. You’re just a painful mistake I’ve already buried, and I don’t dig up my old trash."
The room collectively gasped. Several highborn females covered their mouths in sheer shock.
At the front of the aisle, Lord Raven’s jaw unclinched just a fraction, a dark, dangerous gleam igniting in his eyes as he watched Adeline reduce a highborn Alpha to absolute dust.
Lord Kieran’s subtle smile widened, his sharp eyes tracking every movement of Adeline’s icy posture, while Lord Zyran and Lord Blake exchanged a quiet, impressed look.
Lucas’s blood roared in his ears. His face flushed a dark, ugly crimson as his Alpha aura violently erupted around him, the pressure cracking the silence of the room. "You insolent little—"
"By the way," Adeline cut him off effortlessly, her voice calm, sweet, and entirely unbothered by his flaring aura as she took a small step back, resting her hands deeper into her hoodie pockets.
"Those aren’t even insults. They’re just my personal priorities. Or maybe just simple, cold facts."
She tilted her head, her sharp smirk curling higher as she delivered the final blow.
"After all... I actually have standards."
Of course she does.
Adeline turned her shoulders slightly, preparing to walk past the stunned trio as if they were nothing more than meaningless trash blocking the aisle.
Before her foot could even take another step on the marble floor, Logan stepped directly into her path, his broad frame cutting off the light.
His face was twisted into a dark, storm-filled scowl, his cold eyes dropping for a brief second to Chloe, who was standing just beside him with her head lowered, staring at the floor with a pathetically helpless, heartbroken expression.
"Adeline, you have really gone too far with those insults," Logan said, his deep voice dropping into a heavy, threatening rumble that vibrated through the quiet room.
He gestured sharply toward Chloe, his jaw clenching. "Apologise to her. Right now."
Adeline let out a dry scoff, tilting her head back. "Me? You honestly expect me to bow my head and apologise to her?"
Lucas immediately stepped up beside his twin, his Alpha aura flaring in aggressive, suffocating unison.
"Yes. You. And not with some half-assed head bow either," Lucas spat, his Alpha aura swelling until the surrounding air hummed with oppressive force.
"Get on your knees and fucking apologise to her. Right now. Do you honestly think you can just stand there in your pathetic, oversized hoodie, spitting filth at her and dragging her name through the mud without paying a heavy price for it? Who gave you the right to talk to her like she’s dirt beneath your shoes?"
Adeline scoffed again, a dark, mocking laugh bubbling up from her throat as her eyes flicked between the two twin brothers.
"Why the hell should I apologise?" Adeline asked, her voice dangerously smooth.
"Tell me... what single word came out of my mouth that wasn’t absolute, cold, undeniable truth? Are you angry because I called her out, or are you just furious because deep down inside that hollow chest of yours, you know every single word I said was accurate?"
"Adeline, stop testing our patience and apologise!" Logan commanded, his deep Alpha voice carrying a heavy, supernatural resonance meant to force weaker wolves straight onto their knees.
"Right here. Right now. In front of every single person in this room. You deliberately ruined her very first day on this campus, you humiliated her in front of the whole class, and you will make it right before you take another single step in this academy!"
"Seriously?" Adeline’s voice dropped all its playful sarcasm, turning dangerously flat and icy cold. Her dark eyes locked onto Logan’s.
"Do you even fucking hear yourselves right now?" Adeline whispered, her voice dripping with absolute calmness.
