Deviant Kings: Claimed by The Four Lycan Kings
Chapter 73: Aim for the ThroatAdeline’s pov~
"It’s impossible... no way... no fucking way..." Chloe gasped.
Chloe turned toward me, a tiny, bitter smirk flashing across her features for a fraction of a second before she rapidly forced her face into that pathetic, innocent act she loved so much.
I know what she is gonna say.
My surname.
"Lord Raven..." Chloe said, her lower lip trembling just enough to look delicate.
"You are telling this court that she is under your personal protection... but you have clearly been manipulated by her! Please, just look at the record yourself! It says, Adeline Vance. She isn’t even that person! She is impersonating someone else entirely!"
Thought so.
"She is playing you! She is not a Vance! Adeline Vance??? No fucking way! She doesn’t even know who her own birth parents are, let alone have a highborn last name! She is just a manipulative, lying bitch who is claiming to be someone she isn’t!"
"She is just a scentless, wolfless rogue who has lied her way into these halls! She has no pack, no family, no standing... she is nothing but trash meant to rot in the mud! How can the Second Throne protect someone who doesn’t even exist in the royal registry?"
She kept going, her voice mounting in frantic, shrill waves as she tried to convince the terrifying Lycan Prince to discard me like garbage.
"She used a silver blade on Logan, Lord Raven!" Chloe cried out, gesturing wildly toward Logan’s heavily bandaged wrist.
"She is dangerous, unhinged, and completely untrustworthy! She tricked her way into the academy using a false identity, and if you protect her now, she will bring ruin and shame to your name!"
I listened to her in dead silence.
I didn’t bother interrupting.
I didn’t bother correcting a single word coming out of her mouth.
Keep talking, Chloe.
I simply watched her dig her own grave deeper with every breath.
Keep digging until there’s no way left for you to climb back out. Go ahead... embarrass yourself in front of the entire court. Drag your precious pack down with you.
Raven didn’t even bother turning his head toward her.
His dark, cold eyes stayed locked straight ahead, completely brushing off her existence like she was nothing more than an annoying bug.
He was ridiculously handsome, with sharp, sculpted cheekbones, a strong jawline, and deep, dark eyes that were somehow both terrifying and impossibly hard to look away from.
I couldn’t help but stare at him. Why did he even show up? I really didn’t expect to see him here, especially after everything that went down yesterday.
As if he could feel me looking right at him, Raven slowly turned his head.
His dark black eyes locked straight onto mine.
The heavy, intense focus in his stare hit me like a sudden punch to the chest. My heart slammed hard against my ribs, and I instantly looked away, snapping my head back toward the front of the room to stare blindly at the cold stone wall instead.
Every member of the Disciplinary Committee watched in stunned, rigid silence as Raven looked at me. Chloe’s frantic, shrill rant trailed off right in her throat.
She froze mid-sentence, her glossed lips half-parted in pure, ugly shock as she watched the terrifying Lycan Prince ignore her presence and stare down at me.
She couldn’t take it. The complete lack of attention, the absolute humiliation of being brushed aside for someone she considered trash.
"How could a wolfless rogue like her ever carry the seal of a Lycan King?" Chloe suddenly shrieked, her voice cracking with desperation as she tried to force his focus back onto her, which wasn’t even on her in the first place.
"She must have forged it! She lied to you, My Lord! She is using your name to hide her own filth! You need to kill her right now for daring to insult your royal bloodline!"
A small smile slowly spread across my lips as I leaned back in my chair, keeping my hands buried deep inside my hoodie pockets.
I like to ragebait her. Especially when she is the one who begs for it.
"So, now you’re questioning the Prince of the Second Throne?" I asked, my voice smooth. "Are you really expecting him to sit here and answer your stupid questions, Chloe? Do you honestly believe you have the right to stand before a Lycan Prince and demand explanations?"
"To be that arrogant, you’d either have to be incredibly bold... or stupidly foolish," I continued, letting a dark, mocking lilt touch my words. "And we both know you’re definitely that second option."
The corners of Raven’s lips twitched upward into a subtle smirk, his dark gaze burning into the side of my face with an intensity that made my skin prickle.
Chloe looked like she was about to explode. Her hands fisted tightly at her sides, her manicured nails digging so hard into her palms that I was surprised she didn’t draw blood.
"You fucking bitch!" Chloe spat, her delicate facade shattering completely into pure, ugly rage. "How dare you twist my words?! You manipulative, fucking slut—"
"Language."
The single word wrapped in a wave of dark, crushing Lycan power that slammed into the walls like a physical blow.
"Mind your language when you speak to her," Raven said, his voice dropping into a low, terrifying register that made every single Alpha in the room shudder.
Lucas tried to force himself to stand.
"Lord Raven, please!" Lucas choked out, struggling for breath as he tried to defend her. "Chloe is only trying to point out—"
"Did I give you permission to open your mouth, Alpha Lucas?" Raven’s head turned slowly toward him, his dark gaze narrowing into lethal, predatory slits.
Lucas froze instantly, his jaw clamping shut so hard his teeth clicked together with a sharp, sickening crack.
A single bead of cold sweat rolled down his pale temple as he slowly lowered himself back into his chair.
His eyes flicked over to me, burning with pure venom, malice, and unspoken promises of revenge.
I just returned his death glare with a sweet, calm smile, letting him know that his threats meant less than nothing to me.
Suddenly, Raven turned his body slightly toward me. The terrifying, suffocating pressure he was flexing on the rest of the room completely vanished.
"You are so bad at aiming, you know that?" Raven murmured, his deep voice dropping so low it was practically a velvet whisper meant only for my ears.
I was caught completely off guard.
"What?" I managed to blurt out. "What are you even talking about?"
Every eye in the room widened in sheer disbelief. The RDC committee members looked like they were having collective heart attacks, while Chloe stood completely paralysed, her jaw slack as she listened to the Lycan Lord casually chat with me like we were sitting in a quiet lounge instead of a court of execution.
Raven leaned in a fraction closer, his pitch-black eyes fixed entirely on my face as a tiny, dangerous smirk played on his lips.
"I suggest you should have aimed higher," Raven said, his tone shockingly explicit, carrying no hesitation whatsoever as he laid his dark thoughts bare. "Like for her throat, instead. Heart works better too."
Chloe let out a choked, terrified gasp, her face draining of every single drop of colour as the brutal implication of his words sank into her mind.
Did he really just tell me to slit her throat in front of the Royal Disciplinary Committee? Is he completely out of his mind? Why is he feeding into my dark impulses like this?
"Maybe I could teach you how to do it properly next time," Raven murmured softly, his dark voice smooth, lingering, and far too dangerous.
Teach me? Teach me how to rip her throat out? The casual cruelty in his tone should have terrified me, but instead, it sent an electric shiver straight down my spine.
He gave me one last, lingering look before turning his attention back to the front of the room. I immediately tore my eyes away from his sharp profile, snapping my head forward to stare blindly at the stone wall, though my skin still burned everywhere his look touched.
What the hell is he playing at? Why is he defending me like this? And why... why does a dark, sick part of me actually want to let him teach me?
Before anyone could even process, a sharp, deep voice slammed into the court from the doorway.
"Why the fuck is there even an RDC meeting happening right now?"
The heavy double doors smashed open.
Three tall, broad figures walked through the entrance, their large frames blocking out the light from the hallway behind them.
Lord Zyran, Lord Blake, and Lord Keiran.
The three remaining Princes of the Four Dynasties.
A collective gasp echoed across the court. The three RDC Alphas on the high dais looked as though their souls had left their bodies, their faces draining of every single drop of colour as the brutal, overwhelming pressure of three additional pureblood Lycans crashed into the room.
If Raven’s presence alone had been enough to force the hall to its knees, the sudden arrival of all four thrones would...
