Deviant Kings: Claimed by The Four Lycan Kings

Chapter 72: Don’t Mistake Servants For Masters

Adeline’s pov~

The heavy oak doors burst open.

Lord Raven stepped into the court.

What is he doing here? I didn’t expect him to be here after what happened last night.

He looked devastatingly handsome, but the terrifying power radiating off his massive frame crushed the room in an instant. The air grew thick, suffocating, and heavy with pureblood Lycan dominance that forced every single wolf to their knees.

Immediately, everyone in the hall scrambled to their feet and bowed deeply. The three battle-scarred RDC Alphas at the head table, and Lucas, Logan, and Chloe from before me, all bent their heads in absolute submission.

Raven’s sharp, dark eyes swept lazily over the room as he walked towards the table. His gaze flicked over Lucas, shifted to Logan’s trembling form, brushed past Chloe’s face, and finally landed on the three RDC Alphas. Then, his eyes locked straight onto me.

I was the only one in the entire room who hadn’t stood up.

As Raven started walking slowly toward the table, his heavy boots echoing off the stone floor, Lucas looked up toward me.

His jaw was clenched tight, his face pale with panic as he muttered under his breath, "Stand up and bow right now, you scentless freak! Unless you want to lose your pathetic life right here on this floor!"

I let out a low, tired sigh.

I really didn’t want any new drama today. I had already sliced an Alpha, and I just wanted to get through this useless hearing.

So, I placed my hands on the edges of the heavy wooden table and began pushing myself up to stand.

Before I could even get halfway off my chair, a warm, massive hand settled gently onto my left shoulder.

The heavy palm pressed down with firm, steady control, slowly guiding me right back into my seat.

"Sit down," Raven said softly.

His deep voice was shockingly gentle, lacking every bit of the terrifying power he was flexing on the rest of the room.

The entire court froze.

Shocked by his soft tone to the scentless transfer? Or by the fact that the Prince of the Second Throne placed his hand on my shoulder? Or maybe both?

Every single face in the room turned pale, their eyes wide with absolute, crazy shock.

Lucas looked like he’d been slapped across his face, Logan’s mouth hung open in disbelief, and Chloe’s eyes looked ready to pop right out of her head.

I dragged my gaze from one frozen Alpha to another, watching their arrogant world crumble in real-time.

They were too shocked to speak.

Without taking his eyes off the terrified committee, Raven reached out, pulled the heavy wooden chair right beside mine on my right side, and sat down. He leaned back casually, stretching his long legs out beneath the table, looking completely at home in a room designed for executions.

"Lord... Lord Raven," Vane stammered, his usually gravelly baritone cracking embarrassingly under the crushing, suffocating pressure radiating off the Lycan Prince. He swallowed hard, his hands trembling against the edge of the dais.

"We... we were not informed of your presence, Lord Raven. This is just a standard disciplinary hearing regarding a scentless transfer student who has committed a severe—"

"Well, you should be expecting my fucking presence when you are foolishly planning to throw someone out of this academy who entered these grounds under my personal protection, because if I hadn’t walked into this room right now, you would have just executed a judgment against someone protected under my personal decree," Raven cut him off smoothly, his voice dropping into a dark, quiet register.

"Your... your protection??" Vane whispered, his scarred jaw trembling.

At that exact second, the lean Alpha who had gone to fetch my documents hurried back through the side door, holding the thick leather folder in his shaking hands.

Vane snatched the file out of his grip and ripped it open. His amber eyes scanned the front page, and I could literally see the cold sweat breaking out across his forehead.

From Alpha Vane’s terrified, pale expression, I could tell the exact second his eyes hit the front page. He had found it.

The dark blood-red wax stamp resting right at the bottom of my file.

The official seal of the Second Throne.

I just sat there, completely calm, leaning back in my chair with my hands still buried deep in my hoodie pockets.

Before Vane could even close the folder, Chloe broke protocol.

Driven by her desperate urge to see me ruined, she rushed to the high dais, practically snatching the open file from Alpha Vane’s trembling hands. The committee head was so rattled by Lord Raven’s presence that he didn’t even stop her.

Chloe’s eyes scanned the top of the parchment, and in less than two seconds, her entire body went rigid. Her glossed lips parted in pure disbelief, her face draining of every single drop of colour as her eyes locked onto the black ink and the royal wax below it.

A deep, rough voice cut through the heavy quiet right beside me.

"Well," Raven drawled, his velvet tone dripping with lethal boredom as he leaned back beside me.

"Since when do new transfer students have direct access to the private records of other students? I was unaware that just anyone could walk up to the court dais, grab confidential files, and examine personal documents without my explicit permission."

Raven continued, "Isn’t allowing an unauthorised student to inspect protected records a direct violation of academy code, Alpha Vane? Or have the rules of this court suddenly become a suggestion the moment I am not sitting in this room?"

Vane went instantly rigid, a thick layer of cold sweat breaking out across his forehead as he stammered to defend himself.

"L-Lord Raven," Vane choked out, his voice shaking violently as he tried to find his footing under the Lycan’s crushing aura.

"They are the Crescent Pack. They claimed that... The Crescent Pack... their Alpha family holds a seat on the academy board. They recently secured a territory deal... an active agreement directly under the High Concord."

"Well, you should know this better than anyone, Alpha Vane," Raven said, his quiet voice cutting through Vane’s panic like a razor blade.

"Securing a deal with the High Concord simply means their pack works for us. They render service in exchange for our protection. That does not make them one of us. That does not make them royal. And it is certainly not permanent."

Raven turned his gaze slowly, his dark, pitch-black eyes shifting from Vane’s pale face over to Lucas and Logan, who looked like they were about to choke on their own blood.

"The High Concord belongs exclusively to the Four Dynasties," Raven added, each word heavy enough to crush bone. "Do not mistake servants for masters, Vane."

"Yes, Lord Raven... I am deeply, profoundly sorry. It will not happen again," Vane gasped out, instantly reaching over and snatching the thick leather file right out of Chloe’s frozen hands.

Chloe flinched as the file was ripped away, but instead of backing down, her desperation completely took over.
