Chapter 2510 - 2511: Temple’s Blessing

The temple war did not affect Maomu City, as Maomu City is located inside Great Xia, quite a distance from the border, not to mention everyone knows of Feng Yuan’s existence and influence.

With the materials collected by Feng Yuan and his team on their rounds, they managed to construct a temple right as they were busy investigating the attack on Qi Chen. Meanwhile, the temple unique to Maomu City was already established.

The splendid and magnificent temple, with an aura of primitive yet holy atmosphere, stood in the East City District’s forest plantation of Maomu City. This area was the only suitable plot within the city limits; other places were either lacking open space or surrounded by factories or the like, making them unsuitable for placing a temple.

Only the Mao Mu Forest had ample space and lacked inappropriate buildings nearby. Of course, if one doesn’t consider convenience of transportation, there are quite a few places in the suburbs where a temple can be placed. However, given its uniqueness, Maomu City ultimately abandoned this idea.

Even though the temple’s shelter does not spread with the temple as its center, honestly speaking, Feng Yuan felt something was off when he learned about the temple’s effective range, as it does not follow a distance division, or in other words, the shelter’s range adheres to the city’s jurisdiction until it reaches its area limit.

If the jurisdiction extends beyond the area limit, the area is calculated from the city center outward, discarding the furthest areas until the remaining area reaches the limit.

This thing might affect the division of city boundaries, as originally these were determined mostly by geographic environments and cultural heritage, leading to different jurisdictional areas for different cities. With this thing out, Feng Yuan suspects that to maximize the use of the temple, Great Xia might adjust each city’s jurisdiction.

Would each city’s jurisdiction be just one temple’s area? Quite strange.

Feng Yuan wasn’t sure if this would actually happen, but he thought it probably wouldn’t, right?

Maomu City placed great importance on the temple’s blessing ceremony, even Feng Yuan only received an invitation to observe. As for viewing it up close? That wasn’t possible.

It’s not a matter of trusting Feng Yuan, but rather a precaution against unexpected incidents, as Feng Yuan played no further part in the temple’s construction beyond material collection, and he didn’t know much about the blessing ceremony.

Many were invited to observe, and although Qi Chen and his relations with Feng Yuan were good, they weren’t among the invitees, leaving Qi Chen to gaze from the crowd at the ancient and mysterious temple.

"Is this the temple that will bring shelter to Maomu City? It does look quite imposing."

"I wonder if the blessing could be changed, or if there are any extra restrictions on it, if there aren’t..."

Dou Yanlan muttered while observing the temple; she naturally understood the temple’s blessing was Drudgeon’s doing and guessed why Maomu City didn’t seek Feng Yuan’s help. It was evident that Feng Yuan’s Divine Beasts would have been more effective for the blessing.

There’s an aspect of not having been tested, leaving no assurance that everything will be perfect post-blessing. The disputes triggered by the quest for temple construction materials remained fresh in their memory.

The blessing effect brought by the Divine Beasts around Feng Yuan would certainly be better, yet there is a condition which dictates it won’t bring greater trouble. Otherwise, opting for this blessing difference with greater costs can’t be clearly defined as a good thing.

If it could be confirmed that the blessing had no significant side effects, or that they were acceptable relative to the benefits, perhaps Maomu City would consider seeking help from Feng Yuan.

Dou Yanlan speculated on this point, yet due to Drudgeon’s special relationship with Maomu City, thinking this way felt reasonable. If the relations were less favorable, it might even disgust the Divine Beasts and bring disaster instead.

In Feng Yuan’s view, the temple blessing ceremony was intricate and complex, with dances and unique instruments resonating in a specially prepared performance.

Feng Yuan had considered if the ceremonial procedures could be omitted, but witnessing the temple’s power gradually enhance, he felt they couldn’t. This ceremony was intimately linked with the subsequent blessing ceremony and couldn’t be skipped.

Fortunately, Feng Yuan didn’t need to participate in the ceremony, only spectate, which wasn’t... exhausting.

In the orchestra, the ceremony participants slowly advanced, with Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan shuffling amidst the crowd. Suddenly, during the ceremonies, Qi Chen felt a sudden blurring of his vision.

Flames surged wildly around unfamiliar rock sculptures, not far away, a figure in a gold-accented black robe stood with its back turned towards him—no, that’s not me!

Realizing suddenly, the phantom vanished instantly, leaving only that cold smile as the gold-accented black robe turned its head, sending shivers through Qi Chen.

Although resembling him, no, more precisely, it looked like him from the war timeline, but the chill in that expression made Qi Chen feel as though he saw a lunatic.

Was that... another self? But why?

Questions flooded Qi Chen’s mind, unable to grasp why he’d suddenly view such a scene. Maybe later he’d have to trouble Feng Yuan.

Lost in thoughts, Qi Chen didn’t notice he’d let go of the hand he originally held, getting separated from Dou Yanlan amidst the crowd.

Like Qi Chen, Dou Yanlan also saw strange phantoms. In the phantom, a gold-accented black robe Qi Chen stood opposed to a red-accented blue robe Qi Chen, both glancing at each other seriously while behind them, Ah Mu and other Beastmasters glared angrily at each other.

A cold metallic touch on her left hand snapped Dou Yanlan from the phantom, hurriedly apologizing to the backpacked woman, nervously advancing with the crowd, yet failing to notice when she drifted away from Qi Chen.

"Cat Ball’s outfit looks quite stylish; I wonder what effects the blessing will bring."

Progressing with the ceremony into the Divine Beast blessing segment, Feng Yuan watched eagerly as the specially dressed Drudgeon delicately descended from the sky.

Following flamboyant ceremonial performances, the temple emitted a dazzling radiance, dissipating after a while, revealing surprising transformations within the temple.

Contrasting the primitive state, the temple now housed numerous decorations; indeed, Feng Yuan spotted several new structures on either side.

Eyeing the mysterious additional magic patterns, Feng Yuan remarked,

"Never did I expect the blessing to induce corresponding transformation in the temple, though the extra effects seem quite good."

While the blessing’s effects weren’t publicized, they weren’t hidden either, so Feng Yuan easily perceived the effects brought by Drudgeon’s blessing.

Aside from the highly prized area protection preventing timeline skip invasions, the temple added a special lost magic altar.

Distinct from Gululing corresponding to Drudgeon, the temple blessing didn’t additionally empower Beastmasters within its range, yet comparatively, it held the capacity to activate lost magic, or rather, recorded nearly all lost magic inside the altar.

Regarding usage? That would be up to the administrator; activating lost magic demands energy consumption, which can be supplied to the altar via Beastmasters.

To Feng Yuan, this temple had transformed into a facility akin to a manually operated defense tower, although it couldn’t grant direct empowerment to Beastmasters. With so much lost magic, adding states wouldn’t pose much difficulty.

Furthermore, due to control and undivided power, its might was undiminished. Alongside the temple’s unique range, Maomu City could leverage the temple to initiate lost magic strikes and support at any point within its jurisdiction.

Veronia naturally understood the temple’s post-blessing effects, sitting silently on Rainbow Bubbles before saying,

"Seems like a pretty good thing, though I wonder if replacing it would change the effect?"

The temple blessing nearly mirrored Drudgeon’s primary abilities, leaving Veronia curious whether a blessing of its own would create a World of Mirrors over the entire territory?

Yet, it didn’t plan to replace it, not just for reputation but also upkeep concerns.

The temple maintained its name; the Divine Beast’s blessing wasn’t permanently existent but required daily Power of Prayer consumption to uphold it. This consumption was fixed and altered with the blessing Divine Beast’s strength.

The source was straightforward; merely praying at the temple accumulates Power of Prayer, differing from faith, as it disregards the praying participant’s devotion aside from slight variations in yield.
