Chapter 562: Chapter 562: Maybe This Isn’t the Most Perfect Ending (Part 1)

Three days later, news came that Master Lockwood had been cremated and buried.

Archie Lockwood only invited Ian Shaw. He didn’t invite anyone else, not even a single person from the Grayson Family.

But Mika knew the real reason he’d invited Ian Shaw was because Ian was one of Tristan’s men. So, while on the surface it seemed he had only invited someone unrelated, it actually meant that her brother had already accepted the Grayson Family in his heart.

’If it weren’t for my relationship with Tristan,’ she thought, ’my brother would have definitely invited the Grayson Family to come.’

Although her parents hadn’t mentioned her brother in the last couple of days, she could tell they were genuinely worried about him.

The days passed, one by one. After more than ten days, the buzz in Tridell surrounding the Lockwood Family’s affairs had died down, and the day of her and Tristan’s wedding of the century finally arrived.

This day was different from the day of their engagement.

Before dawn, she was pushed into the makeup room by Tiana and a group of young women. It took nearly two full hours before they were finally finished.

And throughout those two hours, her eyes were glued to her phone.

First, she was waiting for a call, hoping it would be from her brother. He had said he would definitely come to her wedding; he wanted to watch the little sister he had doted on since childhood get married.

So, she kept waiting.

Second, she was waiting for a call from her lifelong best friend, Jasmine. She had called Jasmine as soon as she and Tristan had set the wedding date, and Jasmine had promised she would be there. She just never expected Jasmine to miss her engagement party.

She didn’t want Jasmine to miss her wedding as well.

If Jasmine missed her wedding too, she wasn’t sure if she’d get so angry she might just call the whole thing off.

Without these two most important people in attendance, her wedding no longer felt so exciting. Instead, she felt an unsettling anxiety, a strange sense of helplessness...

And Mika wasn’t the only one who felt this way. Even the two couples greeting guests in the main hall, Caleb Grayson and his wife and Joseph Summers and his wife, were forcing their smiles, doing their best not to let any cracks show in their composure.

They knew full well how difficult it had been for their children to finally get together. So, even with the recent unpleasantness involving Archie Lockwood, they hadn’t objected to the wedding, and everything was proceeding as planned.

Tristan Grayson and his groomsmen drove to the hotel to pick up the bride.

It was only a half-hour drive, but to Tristan Grayson, it felt as if a century had passed.

Memories from all their years together replayed endlessly in his mind.

There were happy moments and sad ones, but clearly, the majority of them were painful.

’Those were memories he didn’t want to revisit, and he was sure they were a source of deep pain for her, too. From now on, he would devote his life to cherishing every day, every moment, and every second they had together...’

When they arrived at the hotel, large, red "double happiness" characters were posted everywhere. Their group took the elevator directly to the VIP suite on the top floor.

Aside from Tristan Grayson, who wore a white suit, the other four men were all in black suits.

(They were: Aiden Avery, Cassian Jennings, Ian Shaw, and—oh, right, one more—the newly recruited ’little brother-in-law,’ Leo Joyce.)

The elevator reached the top floor in just two minutes. They didn’t see a single outsider the entire way, as the Grayson Family had booked out the whole hotel.

Once outside the suite, Tristan Grayson raised a hand to adjust his collar, then gave Ian Shaw a look, signaling for him to knock on the door.
