Chapter 617: Chapter 613: Don’t Touch Me

"Aria Joyce!" Mika Summers and Tristan Grayson exclaimed in surprise at the same time.

"That’s right. Otherwise, did you really think Jasmine Warren could have infiltrated Sovereign on her own?"

Aiden Avery was Jasmine Warren’s senior from school; they had studied under the same professor. So, the moment Aiden learned that Jasmine had managed to get a job at Sovereign, he and Mika Summers had the same thought.

That someone had to be helping Jasmine Warren.

After hearing Aiden Avery’s analysis, Tristan Grayson’s gaze deepened as he looked at Aiden. Then, he discreetly glanced at the woman beside him. Seeing her expressionless face, his heart inexplicably tightened.

’She’s supposed to be my woman, yet I don’t understand her at all. Aiden, on the other hand, seems to know her quite well—his thoughts are perfectly in sync with Mika’s.’

Obviously, this wasn’t the time for him to be jealous. He remained silent, listening to Aiden Avery and Mika Summers’ analysis.

He barely tasted his food for the rest of the meal, his mind restless and uneasy.

After they finished eating, a call came from Ian Shaw. He basically told Tristan not to worry, as half of the branch company shareholders had already signed.

The four of them left the private room and ran into an acquaintance in the main hall.

Well... it would be more accurate to say she was an acquaintance of Aiden Avery and Tristan Grayson.

The woman was dressed in a white suit and ten-centimeter heels, and she was holding the hand of a little girl who looked to be about two or three years old.

"Hi, Young Master Grayson, Young Master Avery. Long time no see!" The woman immediately smiled and came forward to greet them when she saw Tristan Grayson and Aiden Avery.

Aiden Avery put his hands in his pockets and was the first to walk toward her. "Miss Vance, what a coincidence." Although Aiden was also smiling, only those in the know could tell just how cold that smile was.

Fiona Vance was one of those people, but she didn’t care about Aiden Avery’s attitude. To her, he was just a stranger. So, she maintained her smile and asked, "Isn’t Cassian with you? How has he been lately?"

"Hah. He’s doing great. Miss Vance is truly a good person, showing so much concern for her ex-husband."

"Even though Cassian and I are divorced, we’re still friends." The smile on Fiona Vance’s lips stiffened slightly. She raised a hand to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear and replied with a smile.

"Whatever you say, Miss Vance."

The little girl looked up with wide, watery eyes and whined, "Mommy, I’m hungry..."

Hearing her precious daughter, Fiona Vance quickly bent down and picked the girl up. She spoke to them apologetically, "I’m so sorry, my daughter is hungry, so I need to take her upstairs to eat. But don’t worry about the bill today, I’ll take care of it for all of you. You can just leave when you’re ready."

"You’re too kind, Miss Vance, but it’s just one meal. We can afford it."

Fiona Vance didn’t press the issue. She simply carried the little girl and walked toward the elevators.

After Fiona Vance had left, Lily Shaw clutched her chest and said, "That scared me to death."

"What are you afraid of?" Aiden Avery turned around, raising an eyebrow in amusement.

"She’s the goddess of every woman in Tridell! A legendary female CEO! How could I not be scared? I just didn’t expect her to be so down-to-earth."

But Aiden Avery strongly disagreed. "It’s just an act." ’My sister isn’t the least bit inferior to that Fiona Vance!’

’If it weren’t for that bastard Cassian Jennings, I’m sure my sister would be the most capable woman in the world.’

Clearly, the married couple, Tristan and Mika, were focused on something else entirely.

Tristan Grayson had first noticed the daughter Fiona Vance was holding. He was incredibly jealous, and Mika Summers, standing beside him, was just as envious.

The little girl’s voice was so soft and sweet when she spoke; they had taken a liking to her instantly.

"Honey, let’s have a daughter too," Tristan Grayson said softly, wrapping his arm tightly around Mika Summers while brazenly rubbing her stomach with his other hand.

Mika Summers smiled warmly and nodded. "Mm, I’d like a daughter too. But what if it’s a son?"

"If it’s a son, we’ll just sell him!"

’Sell him?’ Mika’s smile vanished instantly. She snapped angrily, "Tristan Grayson! How could you be so cruel? That would be your own child!"

"AHEM, I was just kidding! Don’t be angry. If it’s a son, I’ll like him too."

"That’s more like it," Mika Summers huffed, raising her eyebrows triumphantly.

「...」

At a time like this, that couple still had the leisure to discuss whether they’d have a son or a daughter. Aiden Avery was speechless.

’It seems I was worried for nothing. The two of them clearly aren’t worried at all.’

Beside them, Lily Shaw was practically bursting with envy. Thinking of the little girl from earlier, she suddenly wanted a sweet daughter of her own. But at her age, she didn’t even have a man, let alone a daughter.

And no one ever pursued her.

Even if she wanted to date, she couldn’t find anyone. She was even starting to worry that if no one ever pursued her, she might never get married!

Fortunately, her good-for-nothing older brother in the Shaw Family was taking the heat for her. Otherwise, she would have died of shame from disappointing her family.

"Ah!" Lost in these thoughts, Lily Shaw sighed and walked forward without looking where she was going. She walked right into Aiden Avery’s back, and the impact made her nose throb with pain.

Hearing her cry out, Aiden Avery spun around quickly. Not paying attention, he stepped right on top of Lily Shaw’s foot. Lily instantly shrieked and hopped, one hand on her nose, the other grabbing her foot. "Aiden Avery, don’t you have—Ah...!" Before she could finish the word "eyes," her body lost its balance and she started falling backward. Aiden quickly reached out to grab her, but he was a step too late. Just like that, in front of everyone, Lily Shaw landed hard on her butt on the floor. Now, not only did her nose and foot hurt, but her rear and thigh were aching too.

The pain was so much that she burst into tears.

"Lily, are you okay?" Hearing her sobs, Mika Summers pushed Tristan Grayson aside and ran to Lily Shaw.

Just as Mika was about to pull Lily up, Lily stopped her, crying, "Mika, it hurts! Don’t touch me, it hurts!"

To Tristan Grayson and the others, even though Lily Shaw was only two or three years younger than them, she was still considered their little sister.

Her status was the same as Amelia Avery’s and Tiana Grayson’s—someone to be protected.

So without a second thought, Tristan Grayson yelled at Aiden Avery, "Aiden Avery, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and pick her up."

"Oh!" Aiden Avery was clearly reluctant to carry a woman, but if he didn’t get this crying woman off the floor, he was afraid they would attract a large crowd of onlookers.

So, he could only brace himself, pick up Lily Shaw, and carry her through the crowd toward the hotel entrance.

Tristan Grayson suppressed a laugh and reached out to pull the still-dazed Mika to her feet. "Let’s go pay the bill."

"Huh? Oh."

Seeing her absentmindedness, Tristan Grayson seemed to guess what she was thinking. "Don’t go to the office today. I’ll go with you tomorrow morning."

"Okay."
