Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 616 - 612: Just Won’t ListenChapter 616: Chapter 612: Just Won’t Listen
You can never completely hide your true self from the person who knows you best.
So, Jasmine Warren cut right to the chase, snapping, "Mika Summers, are you done with your act?"
"I’m not acting, Jasmine. You’re the only friend I’ve had since we were kids. I cherish you, and I don’t want..."
"Enough! Mika Summers, from the moment you moved out of our dorm room, from the moment you ignored my advice and insisted on marrying Tristan Grayson, we stopped being friends." ’If she could abandon me for love, why can’t I do this now?’
’Besides, it’s not like her love story is anything to be proud of.’
’Maybe women are just naturally jealous. The better Mika’s life seemed, the more dazzling she became, the more uncomfortable I felt.’
"Jasmine, I thought you of all people would understand me..."
"Mika Summers, I’ll give you a choice. If you divorce Tristan Grayson, I’ll forgive you, and we can go back to how we were."
"Divorce?" Mika’s lips trembled, and her heart took a heavy blow.
Jasmine Warren stood up, crossing her arms. She looked coldly at Mika, her tone firm. "That’s right. Divorce. As long as you leave Tristan Grayson, we’ll go back to how we were."
Mika walked slowly toward Jasmine Warren, shaking her head in disbelief as a sob escaped her. "You’re not Jasmine. The Jasmine Warren I know isn’t like this. She’s upright and kind, and her lifelong dream was to be a great doctor. Who are you? Why have you become so aggressive?"
Seeing Mika’s reddened eyes, Jasmine Warren felt her own eyes sting. But she still sneered, "You’re not me, so how would you know what I’m thinking? Save your tears, Mika. It’s just you and me here. No one’s going to feel sorry for you."
"Jasmine, I know you’re only being so extreme because of Jason Lockwood. I understand all of that. But, Jasmine, you don’t know what terrible things he’s done. He’s not worthy of your affection."
Jasmine Warren shoved Mika away in a fit of anger, tears streaming down her face. She pointed an accusing finger at Mika and demanded, "And what about you people? You’ve all done bad things too! Even if Jason did something, he didn’t end up hurting any of you, did he? Aren’t you all perfectly fine? Why do you have to be so ruthless? Every lawyer in Tridell... not a single lawyer in all of Tridell dares to take Jason’s case! Mika Summers, you owe me this! You said that if I ever needed anything, you would do everything in your power to help me. Well, now I need your help!"
"..." ’Help her?’ Mika’s tears stopped. She looked at Jasmine Warren in disbelief, the sorrow in her eyes growing more heart-wrenching.
"What? Cat got your tongue? Or are you thinking of backing out?"
"How do you want me to help you? Jasmine, I can’t help you get Jason Lockwood out. Besides, I don’t have the power to do that." At that moment, her heart truly went cold. She knew that no matter what else she said, it would be useless.
Jasmine Warren’s lips curved into a sinister, cold smile. She took a step forward and leaned close to Mika’s ear. "It’s simple. You just have to give me..."
Mika’s hands clenched into tight fists, and she bit down hard on her lip, as if she had just heard something terrifying.
"Back when we were in school, I was always the one protecting you. Whenever you were in any danger, I was the one by your side. Do you remember all that?" ’Does she have any idea how awful it feels to be betrayed?’
’They had been so close. Back then, I thought Mika and I would be together forever. I never imagined she would betray me, that she would abandon me.’
Mika’s expression was pained. She nodded. "I remember." ’Those memories used to be warm to look back on, but now, they just feel like a mockery.’
"Mika Summers, you owe me this!"
Mika swallowed the bitterness in her heart and forced a smile. "I do owe you. So, I’ll pay you back." She walked to the office desk, took out a key, and opened a drawer. She pulled out a USB drive. "This is what you want. Jasmine, it’s not too late for you to back out."
"I won’t back out." ’Jason’s case will be decided at the end of the month. I have no choice... I’m sorry, Mika...’
"You should go. As soon as the documents are leaked, we’ll report it to the police in 24 hours. So you still have time to leave." ’And you still have time to give this to the person behind you.’
Jasmine Warren clutched the drive tightly in her hand as if she had made up her mind. She turned and rushed out of the office.
Only after hearing the door SLAM shut did Mika snap out of her daze. She sank back into her chair, utterly exhausted.
A moment later, Lily Shaw came in. Seeing Mika’s red eyes, she asked angrily, "Sister-in-law, did she bully you?"
"No. Are you hungry? Come on, let’s go get something to eat." ’By tomorrow, I’m afraid we’ll be too busy to have time to eat.’
’Even though I’m not hungry right now, I can’t let my baby go hungry.’
"Eat? It’s only a little after ten. We’re going to eat now?"
"Mhm. Don’t forget, your sister-in-law is a pregnant woman now."
Lily Shaw touched her nose sheepishly and smiled. "Oh, right! I almost forgot."
As she and Lily Shaw left the company building, they saw two men getting out of a car in a hurry. Mika froze for a second. "What are you two doing here?"
"I was worried about you, so I came over. As it happens, Aiden had something to discuss with you too. Don’t worry, I left Ian Shaw in charge of the handover. It’ll definitely all get done today."
"Okay. Let’s find a restaurant to talk then."
Aiden Avery glanced at Mika. He wanted to say a few words of concern but felt it wasn’t appropriate, so he suppressed the feeling.
The group of them got into Aiden Avery’s car and headed to the Vance Hotel.
After arriving at the Vance Hotel, they were led directly to a VIP private room.
"This matter ultimately involves Archie Lockwood. Shouldn’t we call him over?" Aiden Avery suggested, a little uncertain.
"Let’s not trouble my brother with my business."
Tristan Grayson reached out and pulled Mika Summers into his arms. "Yes, Mika and I feel the same way."
Watching the calm couple, Aiden Avery felt his chest tighten with anxiety. ’It’s a classic case of the servants worrying more than the emperor.’
’COUGH, COUGH, COUGH. Though, comparing myself to a servant is a bit creepy...’
"Since you two don’t want to call him, we won’t bother him. However, I did find something. Tristan, you’re not uninvolved in this either. What did I tell you before? I told you and Ian Shaw to leave some leeway when you do things, not to back people into a corner. But you two just had to ignore me. Look here. Who are these two people?" Aiden Avery sighed, took his wallet out of his pocket, and from it, a photograph. He placed it on the table, tapping on the two women in the picture.
