Chapter 619: Chapter 615: Three Minutes

She didn’t even have time to react. Blood instantly soaked her clothes, and more dripped from the tip of the dagger.

She let out a muffled grunt. Bracing herself against the door, her knees gave way. She bit her lip, glaring fiercely at the madwoman. "You... Why would you do this..."

Jasmine Warren saw the color drain from the woman’s face and the way her brow furrowed in pain. Panic seized her. She was so flustered she didn’t know what to do. Backing away, she pointed a trembling finger at Aria Joyce and shrieked, "Aria Joyce, this is what you get for lying to me!"

"——" ’Even though I knew she was really in love with Jason Lockwood, I never imagined this madwoman would actually dare to do something like this.’

She was in too much pain, too weak to speak. It felt as if she might close her eyes and be gone forever at any moment.

’To die like this would be too humiliating. I’m Aria Joyce!’

’I am Aria Joyce, the eldest daughter of the Joyce Family, a princess who has been doted on and pampered her entire life...’

’I can’t die like this. I can’t. I can’t die...’

She didn’t know where she found the strength, but she managed to struggle to her feet. Her hand went to the dagger, and she tried to pull it out. She did just that. With a sharp tug, a gush of blood poured out, impossible to stop. Her body trembled, swaying so much she could barely stand. Still, with sheer willpower, she pressed her hand firmly against the wound. She looked up at the woman in the hallway, who was practically frozen in fear. "Aren’t you going to get help!"

Jasmine Warren was indeed frozen in fear. She was beyond panicked; her very heart was in turmoil. How could she possibly dare to call for help now? Shaking her head, tears streaming down her face, she kept backing away. "No, I didn’t mean to do it! You forced me!"

"Take me to the hospital..." Her consciousness was fading, but she knew that if she didn’t get to a hospital, she was really going to die.

But one look at Jasmine Warren’s terrified expression told her she was on her own. She pressed one hand to the wound, using the other to steady her swaying body and keep herself from collapsing...

She managed to drag herself to the elevators. But as she raised a hand to press the button, it felt as if the blood had drained from her head. Her vision went black, and she collapsed.

Jasmine Warren’s hands trembled as she stared at the blood on them, then at the woman lying prone on the floor. She let out a terrified shriek. In a frenzy, she pried open an elevator door, scrambled inside, and jabbed the close button with a shaking hand.

Outside the courthouse, a sudden unease washed over Ian Shaw. The feeling made his entire body uncomfortable, and a tightness constricted his chest...

Tristan Grayson noticed Ian Shaw’s distracted air and figured he was just sleep-deprived. He clapped him on the shoulder. "You didn’t get any sleep last night. Why don’t you head back and get some rest? I’ve got it covered here."

"Alright, I’ll head back then." Ian Shaw agreed it was no time to act tough; he genuinely felt unwell.

After bidding farewell to Tristan Grayson and the others, he found himself driving back to the Empyrean Hotel half an hour later, almost on autopilot.

But when he arrived at the entrance of the Empyrean Hotel, he hesitated, unsure if he should even get out of the car.

He hadn’t slept at all last night, and neither had that woman. Still, a sense of glee rose in him at the thought that Jason Lockwood had been sentenced to twelve years. He was itching to see the disappointed look on that woman’s face.

Suddenly, he saw a woman come bursting recklessly out of the hotel entrance. She tripped and fell headfirst onto the ground but scrambled back up as if she hadn’t felt a thing and kept running. She looked panicked and disheveled, as if a ravenous wolf were chasing her.

Ian Shaw wasn’t interested at first, but when the woman glanced around frantically, his eyes shot wide open.

’Jasmine Warren?’

And don’t ask how he recognized Jasmine Warren at a glance; the woman had simply been showing up in front of him far too often lately.

’Judging by how frightened and panicked she looks, she must have already heard about Jason Lockwood’s sentence.’

’I don’t have many hobbies, but I do enjoy watching wicked women like her get what they deserve. It’s incredibly satisfying.’

But his satisfaction was short-lived. The very next moment, a shocking scene unfolded before his eyes.

With a tremendous BANG, Jasmine Warren’s body was thrown through the air in an arc. There was a SMASH of shattering glass, and then he saw her tumble off the hood of a sedan.

An ambulance arrived with almost impossible timing, as if it had been waiting for its cue. Ian Shaw hadn’t even fully processed that there had been a car crash just a short distance away. He could only watch as nurses and doctors from the ambulance worked together to lift the bloody woman from the ground, load her into the vehicle, and then speed out of sight...

He rubbed his aching eyes. In the distance, the driver who had hit her and the driver of the other car were now shoving each other. He looked again at the large pool of blood on the asphalt. Only then did it feel real, not some strange hallucination.

’So, Jasmine Warren really was in a car accident?’

’But that ambulance... it arrived way too quickly. The crash happened less than three minutes ago. Before anyone could even snap out of their shock, she was already rescued and gone?’

’No, that’s not right. No ambulance could be that fast.’ His head snapped toward the hotel, the image of Jasmine Warren fleeing in a panic replaying in his mind. A sudden premonition struck him: something had happened inside the hotel.

At that thought, he acted without a second’s hesitation, throwing open his car door and sprinting toward the hotel entrance.

Just as he’d suspected, something was wrong. The first-floor lobby was completely empty. But the unease in his heart intensified. A trail of blood on the floor was impossible to ignore. He followed it, sprinting toward the elevators. At the elevator bank, he saw a bloody handprint smeared across one of the doors. He rushed inside, panicked, not knowing which floor to choose. Then he saw it: blood seemed to be on all the buttons. His chest tightened, and he could barely breathe.

In his frantic state, he raised a hand and randomly pressed a floor button. He didn’t realize it, but it was the very same floor he had visited last night.

Before the elevator doors had even opened, he could hear the sound of many people talking, mixed with the sound of women crying. When the doors slid apart, his eyes immediately fell on a female employee cradling another woman in her arms. Several staff members were pressing down hard on the woman’s stomach with wads of tissues. He could clearly see the area was bleeding. Large, blood-soaked clumps of tissue littered the floor. One of the employees was crying too hard to speak, her voice choked with sobs as she screamed at the onlookers, "Did any of you call an ambulance or not?! Why isn’t it here yet?!"
