Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 622 - 618: Amelia Avery VS Cassian Jennings (Extra)Chapter 622: Chapter 618: Amelia Avery VS Cassian Jennings (Extra)
At Aria’s funeral, Leo had only said one thing to her: "Let’s just take a break for now."
She didn’t understand what that meant.
Nor did she know just how long "for now" would be.
But she knew one thing for certain: after that day, they lost all contact. Not long after, she heard he had gone to Noridia to clear his head.
When she heard the news, she wasn’t particularly shocked. It felt as if things were unfolding just as they should.
The winter break ended quickly. After discussing it with her brother and sister-in-law, she decided to apply to study in Country M.
She didn’t tell her parents about this decision. Instead, two days before the new semester began, she had Ian Shaw drive her away.
「Meanwhile.」
「In a teahouse in Noridia.」
Amelia Avery looked at the man staring blankly across from her. She sighed, her brow furrowed, and said, "Leo, just how long are you going to keep hiding? Don’t tell me you actually want to break up with Tiana."
"Aren’t you avoiding Cassian Jennings all the same?" Leo Joyce snapped out of his daze. He casually picked up his teacup, took a small sip, and retorted coolly.
At the mention of Cassian Jennings, Amelia Avery’s temper flared. "How is that the same? My situation with him is completely different from yours with Tiana!" ’The nature of our situations is completely different; how can he even compare them?’
"Heh, what’s so different?"
"Tiana is innocent in all of this. You can’t take your anger out on her just because your sister, Aria, suddenly passed away."
"I’m not taking my anger out on her. I just don’t know how to face her right now." ’Of course he knew Tiana was innocent. He’d never thought of wronging her, much less ending things between them.’
It was just as he’d said; he couldn’t bring himself to face anyone from the Grayson Family.
"Leo, this is the last time I’m going to try to talk some sense into you. If you really can’t accept this, then you’d better explain things clearly to Tiana. Don’t make her wait for you all this time for nothing." With that, an annoyed Amelia Avery stood up. "Not every woman will love you as foolishly as Tiana does. If you lose her, you’ll live to regret it!" After saying her piece, Amelia angrily snatched her bag from the chair and left.
’She was furious. When had the Leo Joyce she knew become such a coward?’
’Aria Joyce’s death was a tragedy, yes, but it had absolutely nothing to do with Tiana. She really couldn’t figure out what this whole temper tantrum between them was about.’
’She knew Tiana’s personality. If Leo didn’t reach out to her first, she would never disturb him. In fact, if too much time passed, that girl would start overthinking everything and might even decide to leave Leo Joyce on her own.’
’She knew Tiana all too well. Tiana might seem gentle, but she was incredibly stubborn to the core. She would never debase herself just for the sake of love.’
"..." Watching Amelia Avery storm off, Leo Joyce opened his mouth, but couldn’t say a single word.
’He’d thought that coming to Noridia to clear his head and cool off for a while would give him the answers he needed. But he wasn’t nearly as strong or as rational as he had believed himself to be.’
’The more time passed, the more afraid he was to go back and face everything... ’
Once outside the teahouse, Amelia Avery hurriedly pulled her phone from her bag. She had a strong feeling her suspicions were correct.
She scrolled through her contacts, staring at a few numbers in a private group. Finally, after much hesitation, she called Ian Shaw.
’She didn’t call her brother because Cassian Jennings was in town, and she was afraid her brother would scold her—or worse, pull some strings to cause trouble for the Jennings family.’
’And she didn’t call Tristan because, frankly, she was scared of him.’
’So, even though she knew perfectly well that Ian Shaw despised her, she swallowed her pride and made the call anyway.’
"Well, well, I was wondering who it was. If it isn’t the illustrious Ancestor Avery herself."
The moment the call connected, Ian Shaw’s infuriating voice came through the line.
Amelia Avery’s expression darkened. Clutching her phone, she fought the urge to curse and asked coldly, "I just wanted to ask you, has Tiana been okay lately?"
"Heh, Tiana? Aren’t you two close? Why are you asking an outsider like me?" On the other end of the line, Ian Shaw was in the middle of seeing someone off, and as he spoke, his eyes kept drifting toward the person’s retreating back.
"I..." Amelia Avery was at a loss for words. She always felt guilty about Leo coming to see her.
That was why her first instinct had been to not call Tiana, but to ask someone else she knew instead.
"If I’m not mistaken, you’re with the Joyce Family’s Little Tyrant right now, aren’t you? Heh heh... Amelia Avery, it was bad enough that you wronged Cassian Jennings, but now you’re trying to steal Tiana’s boyfriend, too? Let me tell you, Amelia Avery, if it weren’t for your brother, I would’ve slapped the life out of you by now."
"..." As Ian Shaw’s words hit her, Amelia Avery gripped her phone tightly, her eyes turning red as she bit down hard on her lip.
But the man on the other end of the line clearly didn’t know when to stop. "Amelia Avery, if you have a shred of conscience, you’ll pass a message to the Joyce Family’s Little Tyrant for me. Aria Joyce’s death has nothing to do with the Grayson Family, and it has even less to do with Tiana! I, Ian Shaw, am responsible for her death. If he wants someone to blame, he can come after me! My life is worthless, and I’d be more than happy to trade it for hers!"
With that, before Amelia Avery could even react, he hung up.
Amelia Avery was trembling with such rage that she could barely stay on her feet.
This was probably the first time that bastard, Ian Shaw, had ever used such a tone with her.
And worse, she had brought it on herself today, practically inviting him to yell at her.
Just as she felt so lightheaded with rage she thought she might faint, a pair of arms wrapped tightly around her. A concerned male voice whispered near her ear, "Are you okay?"
The warm, pleasant voice sent a shiver down her spine. She quickly steadied herself, pushed the man away, and nodded. "I’m fine," she said coldly. "I’m great. Goodbye." Without daring to look up, she turned and hurried away.
His arms suddenly empty, a look of loneliness flickered across the man’s face. Still, he began to walk slowly after her. His gaze was fixed on Amelia Avery’s hand, watching her clutch her phone with a complex expression in his eyes.
’Remembering how furious she’d looked on the phone just now, he couldn’t help but worry.’
They continued like that, one walking in front of the other, for five or six hundred meters before Amelia Avery finally snapped. Goaded by Ian Shaw’s earlier tirade, she spun around in a fury and roared at the man trailing behind her, "Cassian Jennings, how long are you going to keep following me?!"
