Chapter 672: Chapter 664: Cry to Your Heart’s Content

Cassian Jennings shot Ian Shaw a glare. ’No matter what, he shouldn’t have laid a hand on Amelia!’ His heart aching, he scooped Amelia Avery into his arms and turned to leave.

As Cassian started to walk away without a word, Ian Shaw’s brow tightened. An unpleasant feeling churned inside him as he yelled at Cassian’s retreating back, "Shouldn’t you at least ask who she was with tonight?"

At those words, Cassian Jennings stiffened slightly. He turned back around, still holding Amelia.

But he didn’t ask. He just stared coldly at Ian Shaw.

"I’ll tell you, then. Your woman spent the evening drinking with Leo Joyce."

Cassian only faltered for a moment upon hearing Ian’s words. He then looked down at the woman in his arms, his eyes filled with an unprecedented mix of tenderness and resignation. "Ian, I know what you’re implying, but I hope you’ll never say anything like that again. I’m her husband, and I trust her unconditionally."

Ian Shaw’s lips twisted into a self-deprecating sneer. "Heh. My mistake for sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong." ’It was their business, a married couple’s. He, an outsider, really had just been meddling and asking for trouble.’

Cassian’s expression soured at Ian’s misunderstanding. He shook his head and explained, "It’s not like that, Ian. There are some things I’m not at liberty to discuss, but you’ll all surely find out in the future. The truth is, things aren’t easy for Amelia. She has her reasons."

"Not easy? Reasons?" Ian Shaw scoffed. "What kind of reasons could she possibly have?"

Cassian’s eyes dimmed. "I’m sorry," he said in a low voice. "I’m taking Amelia home now."

Ian Shaw’s frustration peaked as he watched Cassian leave with Amelia, especially after that vague, unfinished explanation.

’Still,’ he thought, ’the way Amelia was crying in the car... she seemed genuinely devastated. It didn’t look like an act.’

’Could she really be going through something difficult?’

’But he refused to believe it. Who could possibly bully the great Ancestor Avery?’

Back on the second floor, Ian Shaw looked at Leo Joyce, who was passed out on the bar, and sighed with weary resignation.

He sat down next to Leo and started downing one drink after another.

He lost track of how many drinks he’d had before he, too, sank into a drunken stupor.

「A newly built villa complex in the suburbs.」

Quincy Grayson, yawning nonstop, looked at the woman curled up on the sofa. "Seriously, Tiana, what on earth do you want? You might not be sleeping, but I need to! Look at the time—it’s already past 5:10. I have to leave for work at 6:30!"

"If you want to sleep, go ahead. I’m not stopping you."

"Yes, you’re not stopping me, but for crying out loud, Your Highness, I can’t even get back to my room before I hear you wailing! How am I supposed to sleep through that? Don’t you know sleep is crucial for a celebrity? I was a good enough sport to go pick you up in the middle of the night, you can’t be this ungrateful! Be a dear, listen to me. Just let me get half an hour of sleep, please? You can stay here and be quiet, and once I’ve slept for thirty minutes, you can cry your heart out. Deal?" Quincy Grayson pleaded, clasping his hands together with a miserable look on his face.

Tiana Grayson sniffled, her voice thick and nasal. She turned her head away. "Quincy Grayson! I really misjudged you!"

’Fine.’ Quincy Grayson surrendered. ’Looks like there’s absolutely no chance I’m getting any sleep now.’

Resigned, he walked over, sat down beside Tiana, and pulled her into his arms. "Alright, alright, Your Highness," he cooed, his voice full of indulgence. "Just tell me what you want. Big deal, I won’t sleep. If you want to cry, go on and cry your heart out. Just stop looking at me like I owe you millions."
