Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 711 - 700: Marry a Rich Man (3)Chapter 711: Chapter 700: Marry a Rich Man (3)
"So, Shirley Lockwood, you’re lying to me too, aren’t you? I don’t believe a word you’re saying. You’re going back first thing tomorrow morning. And once you’re back, you’ll stay in the villa and not go anywhere. Also, I’ll be back myself in three or four days. So, Shirley Lockwood, you’d better not try to pull any tricks on me. Whatever you’re planning, it’s far too childish to work on me."
"Dad, you’re awful! How could you do this to me! This is no different from locking me up!" At this point, Shirley Lockwood couldn’t be bothered with feeling wronged or shy. She planted her hands on her hips and roared furiously.
’Her freedom was at stake. She had to fight this to the very end!’
"Shirley Lockwood, you’re right about one thing. I *am* putting you under a form of house arrest. You’d better do as I say. Otherwise, I’ll make sure your vacation is packed to the brim, so you’ll be studying twenty hours a day."
Shirley Lockwood was so furious she was grinding her teeth. She walked over to the sofa and plopped down.
Seeing Rory’s pouting face, Archie Lockwood’s heart softened considerably.
But as much as his heart softened, he wasn’t going to change his decision.
’Every minute, every second this little one spent in the country made him deeply uneasy.’
’He was secretly worried she hadn’t given up, that she would still try to find her mother. He absolutely could not let that happen.’
The father and daughter sat stubbornly on the sofa, neither of them speaking, neither willing to be the first to go to bed.
It was as if the first one to speak would be the loser.
Eventually, Rory couldn’t take it anymore. She yawned, her eyelids feeling heavy. She raised a hand to rub her eyes, shot Archie Lockwood a fierce glare, then turned her head back, resuming her previous posture.
Archie Lockwood sighed and frowned. "Go to sleep."
"No way!"
"Be a good girl. Go to sleep."
"I’m not going to sleep! The moment I close my eyes, I’ll open them and it’ll be morning. And when morning comes, I’ll have to go back to Country M all by myself. So, I refuse to sleep." After saying her piece, Shirley Lockwood crossed her arms and huffed indignantly at Archie Lockwood.
Archie Lockwood’s expression grew stern. He stood up, walked over to her, and bent down to pick her up. "Whether you want to or not," he commanded in a cold, harsh tone, "you are going to sleep!"
"I don’t want to! I don’t! I won’t!" Shirley Lockwood yelled, kicking her legs wildly.
Archie Lockwood’s head throbbed, and he furrowed his brow. "Stop fooling around. This isn’t our house. If you wake up Leo, he’ll come down and scold you."
As expected, threatening Shirley Lockwood with Leo Joyce was the most effective tactic.
Shirley Lockwood stopped struggling, but she turned her head away from Archie Lockwood with a huff.
Archie Lockwood gave a helpless smile and glanced at the rooms on the first floor. "Which room is yours?"
"Hmph, I’m not telling you." Hearing that her dad didn’t know her room, Shirley Lockwood’s eyes darted around. She turned her head away and huffed smugly.
Archie Lockwood looked down at the little one in his arms with his deep-set eyes. Seeing her smug expression, a roguish smile played on his lips. He lifted his head, his gaze landing on one of the rooms. "Heh. That one, right?"
"H-How did you know?" Hearing that, Shirley Lockwood lost her composure.
"I knew it the moment I saw the little bear charm hanging on the door." ’How could I not know my own daughter, the one I raised myself?’
’It’s not like I’m an idiot or blind. Of course I’d know.’
’Of course, Archie Lockwood wouldn’t say that out loud. If this little one knew how he’d figured it out, she’d definitely use it to cause trouble next time.’
Shirley Lockwood pouted. "Dad, you’re so mean! Even if you put me in my room, I’m not going to sleep."
...
Frowning, Archie Lockwood unlocked the door and placed the little one on the bed.
The moment she was on the bed, Shirley Lockwood sat bolt upright and glared fiercely at Archie Lockwood. "Don’t think you can put me on the bed and I’ll just obediently go to sleep. I’m telling you, it’s not happening! Absolutely not! I’m not sleeping tonight!"
"If you won’t sleep, then just sit there. You can always sleep on the plane tomorrow," Archie Lockwood said, his face stern and his voice cold.
"You’re such an inhuman dad! You get to stay here and have fun while you ship me back to Country M all alone. Don’t you know I’ll be scared by myself in that huge villa?" Shirley Lockwood complained, her voice low and her eyes red with unshed tears.
