"Ladies, calm down. Whatever it is, we can talk it over. Even if the sky were falling, there’d be someone taller to hold it up for us," Li Qiye said with a smile, seeing the girls in such a panic.
"There’s no time! We’ll talk on the way." Without waiting for his consent, the girls grabbed him and started running, their expressions a mask of urgency.
"What’s the big emergency?" Dragged along by the girls, Li Qiye had no choice but to break into a run with them.
As they ran, one of the girls explained, "Prince Chi and Huangfu Feng have gone to the Dragon-breaking Platform."
"The Dragon-breaking Platform?" Li Qiye’s eyes narrowed. "They’ve got some nerve. It seems they let my words go in one ear and out the other. They really thought I was just full of hot air."
One of the girls hurriedly said, "Not long after you left, Huangfu Feng returned. And she brought reinforcements! She found a powerful backer and came fully prepared."
"Oh? And who might this great personage be?" Li Qiye asked, his eyes still narrowed.
A girl replied, "Gui Fushu of the Yao Guang Ancient Country. He’s the junior martial brother of the Yao Guang Giant, Ancestor Emperor Wu, and an incredible genius at Dingshi Academy."
At the mention of Gui Fushu, the other girls’ expressions turned grave. He was leagues more terrifying than Huangfu Feng. What inspired even greater fear was his origin: the Yao Guang Ancient Country. An ancient country that had produced Twin Emperors was incalculably stronger and more fearsome than a Demon Dao Major like the Tiger Roar Sect.
"After Huangfu Feng returned with her backer, she was saying the most awful things. In the end, Prince Chi couldn’t stand it anymore and agreed to a life-or-death duel with her on the Dragon-breaking Platform!" one of the girls said indignantly.
The other girls were just as indignant. "The Tiger Roar Sect has gone too far! They’re acting like our Lion Roar Country has no one to stand up for it!"
The Dragon-breaking Platform was the designated place for life-or-death duels between students of the Celestial Dao Academy. Normally, disciples’ spars were friendly exchanges that stopped before any real harm was done, preserving the peace between fellow students.
However, if both parties were willing to fight to the death, they had to ascend the Dragon-breaking Platform. Once a duel began on the platform, it would not end until one of them was dead!
Huangfu Feng had suffered a major loss at Li Qiye’s hands, utterly losing face in front of a group of girls from the Great World Academy whom she considered her inferiors. She regarded this as a profound humiliation. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, unable to swallow her indignation. She was desperate to avenge herself, but she knew that her own Dao Practice was no match for that Little Ghost, Li Qiye. And so, she thought of someone.
Gui Fushu hailed from the Four Ghost Clans, but he had joined the Yao Guang Ancient Country and become one of its disciples. His talent was immense. Though not of royal blood, he was highly regarded by the Yao Guang Ancient Country and had even been enfeoffed as a Prince.
Gui Fushu’s talent was indeed exceedingly high. He was a One-star True Master, but that wasn’t even the most terrifying thing about him. What was truly terrifying was that he possessed five Life Palaces.
When Gui Fushu was in the King and Marquis Realm, he opened three more Life Palaces, bringing his total to five. A Prince with five palaces—a Five Palace Prince—was an incredible feat, earning him the title of Dao Marquis! One can only imagine how astonishing his talent was.
After reaching five Life Palaces, he broke through to the True Realm. A One-star True Master who had once been a Dao Marquis—even a Five-Star Master would grow pale at the thought of facing him!
For an outsider like Gui Fushu to be enfeoffed as a Prince by a behemoth like the Yao Guang Ancient Country was more than enough to prove his power and fearsomeness.
Gui Fushu was quite fond of Huangfu Feng, so when she came to him for help after her great humiliation, he agreed without a moment’s hesitation. He promised to personally eliminate the Little Ghost named Li Qiye and wash away her shame.
Gui Fushu’s immediate agreement wasn’t born of arrogance; he truly possessed the strength to make others wary.
By now, Chi Xiaodie and Huangfu Feng were already standing on the Dragon-breaking Platform. Their duel had attracted a large crowd of students from the Celestial Dao Academy. It wasn’t just students from the Great World and Dingshi Academies; many from the Leisure World Academy had come as well. Even some of the monstrous geniuses from the Saint World Academy were watching from afar.
Although Chi Xiaodie had enrolled in the Great World Academy, she was a Prince in her own right. She had just stepped into the second level of the Profound Fate Realm, Wen Tian, also known as the second rank of marquis within the Prince realm—an Imperial Marquis.
However, for someone from a heritage like the Lion Roar Country, reaching the rank of Imperial Marquis through her own strength was a truly remarkable achievement. She enjoyed considerable fame throughout the East Hundred Cities.
Huangfu Feng was no simple character either. A disciple of the Tiger Roar Sect, she was a descendant of the Golden Simurgh Demon, which also earned her a great deal of fame in the East Hundred Cities.
For these two "Heavenly Pride Girls" to suddenly be fighting to the death certainly drew a large crowd of students from the East Hundred Cities.
Students from the Great World Academy in particular rushed over to show their support as soon as they heard the news. Those who also came from the Lion Roar Country were especially vocal in cheering for Chi Xiaodie.
Of course, seeing Gui Fushu standing guard for Huangfu Feng made the hearts of many of Chi Xiaodie’s supporters from the Great World Academy sink. The presence of an expert like him, even if he didn’t make a move, created immense psychological pressure.
"They are all prominent figures of the East Hundred Cities. Why fight to the death over such a trivial matter?" An heir from one of the city’s Great Sects stepped forward, trying to smooth things over.
One of the princes, seeing Gui Fushu backing Huangfu Feng, understood that the general situation was against Chi Xiaodie. He immediately tried to persuade her, "Miss Chi, take a step back, and you’ll find a world of possibilities. Just bow your head to Princess Huangfu, admit you were wrong, and we can all let this go."
"Bow her head and admit she was wrong? And that’s it?" Huangfu Feng sneered, her voice dripping with acid. "It’s not that easy. That Chi girl has to get on her knees, kowtow, and beg for my forgiveness. Then, maybe, I’ll consider sparing her."
Once Huangfu Feng said this, even the prince who had been trying to mediate couldn’t help but sigh softly. Her demands were clearly excessive, but with Gui Fushu standing there, backing her up, there was nothing more anyone could say.
At this point, for many of the younger generation from the East Hundred Cities, just trying to mediate for Chi Xiaodie was already a significant act of loyalty. After all, few people could afford to provoke the Yao Guang Ancient Country. Making an enemy of them was simply unwise.
There were also a few monstrous geniuses from the Saint World Academy in attendance, but they only watched from a distance. To them, even the so-called geniuses of Dingshi Academy were nothing special.
"It seems someone treated my words like the passing wind." A lazy voice cut through the tension. Pulled and dragged by the girls, Li Qiye had finally arrived.
The moment Chi Xiaodie saw Li Qiye, she breathed a sigh of relief. Gui Fushu’s presence had been a source of immense psychological pressure. She wasn’t a genius like Li Shuangyan, after all; she didn’t possess that same domineering, decisive ruthlessness—the kind that would slay gods and slaughter demons without hesitation!
With Li Qiye there to back her up, Chi Xiaodie felt completely at ease. Gui Fushu no longer seemed like a threat. Without realizing it, she had come to rely on Li Qiye a great deal.
Upon seeing Li Qiye, Huangfu Feng’s expression became utterly foul. "It’s him!" she snarled.
The moment Gui Fushu saw Li Qiye, his eyes turned cold. "So you’re Li Qiye," he stated, his voice just as cold. He was handsome, but it was a beauty marred by an overwhelming yin aura.
Gui Fushu came from the Four Ghost Clans, a branch of the Ghost Immortal Race. Within the Human Emperor Realm, the Ghost Immortal Race was rare, and the Four Ghost Clans were one of the more powerful branches that remained.
As Gui Fushu stepped forward, a chill ran through the hearts of the Great World Academy students cheering for Chi Xiaodie. Even the other students from Dingshi Academy tensed up.
Gui Fushu was an absolute top figure in Dingshi Academy. A One-star True Master who had previously been a Dao Marquis—his strength was enough to directly threaten even Hu Yue, a Five-Star Master from the Saint World Academy.
"And what if I am?" Li Qiye didn’t even bother to glance at Gui Fushu as he spoke slowly.
Gui Fushu’s eyes turned colder, and a sinister yin aura exploded from his body, giving him a truly ghostly air. The Ghost Immortal Race was comprised of many different peoples, and each was unique. Some looked no different from the Human Race on the surface. However, purple blood flowed through their veins—blood far colder than that of a human. This was why members of the Ghost Immortal Race always exuded a sense of coldness, an energy that some called Ghost Qi.
"You’ve arrived at the perfect time." A chilling pressure radiated from Gui Fushu, and killing intent flared in his eyes. He spoke in a grim tone, "How would you like to die?"
At this moment, Gui Fushu truly embodied the Ghost Qi of his race, an aura that made one’s skin crawl. When a powerful genius from Dingshi Academy like him revealed his killing intent, it sent a shiver through the hearts of many in the crowd.
A One-star True Master with five palaces who had once been a Dao Marquis—he was truly a terrifying opponent. At that moment, some of the other geniuses from Dingshi Academy secretly compared themselves to Gui Fushu and couldn’t help but feel a chill run down their spines.
As for the students from the Great World Academy, when they saw Gui Fushu’s intimidating aura and surging cold energy, he looked like a vicious specter emerging from the shadows, causing them to shiver involuntarily.
Li Qiye still hadn’t given Gui Fushu a proper look. He turned to Chi Xiaodie and instructed, "Since you’ve already ascended the Dragon-breaking Platform, it shouldn’t end until one of you is dead. Go and slaughter her for me. Don’t you dare lose face for me. I trust you can unleash the full might of your ultimate skill."
Chi Xiaodie took a deep breath, then strode forward. Fixing Huangfu Feng with a cold glare, she declared, "You wanted a reckoning? Fine. I’ll give you a reckoning!"
"You shameless bitch, you don’t know the difference between life and death! Today, I, the princess, will tear you to shreds myself!" Huangfu Feng shrieked. She instantly summoned a Treasure Furnace. With the cry of a phoenix, the furnace shot through the air like a Divine Phoenix, aiming to kill Chi Xiaodie.
Chi Xiaodie let out a sharp cry. With a Divine Blade in hand, she soared into the air. A torrent of Blade Intent surged forth, crashing down like a mighty river.
At that same moment, Li Qiye leisurely climbed onto another Dragon-breaking Platform. He pointed at Gui Fushu and said slowly, "Get up here and die."
