Hu Qiumu’s mouth was a string of firecrackers—POP POP POP. None of the others present could win an argument against him.

Even if they had a thousand flames of rage burning in their hearts, they couldn’t voice it. All they could do was bottle it up, leaving them frustrated while their opponent walked away feeling great, and they themselves were left fuming.

"I admit, you’re smarter than any of us. But people’s hearts change." Uncharacteristically, Feng Qiwu only spoke up now. Hu Qiumu fell silent, watching him quietly and motioning for him to continue.

"Besides, you aren’t us, so how would you know we don’t genuinely love our Female Master?" Feng Qiwu’s expression gradually calmed, his gaze losing focus as if lost in memory. He spoke slowly, "Strictly speaking, I’ve spent more time by the Female Master’s side than any of you. At first, I only stuck to her for the sake of reverting my bloodline, but slowly... that changed."

"Come to think of it, I have my wings to thank. And the fact that He Yushu wasn’t around. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had so many opportunities." He sighed and continued, "But things never stay the same. Later, the Female Master was cruel enough not to take me with her. And now she has wings of her own... I’m afraid I won’t get that chance again."

Speaking of He Yushu, he was also one of Chu Liangyu’s Twelve Beast Husbands—her third, to be exact.

He was a rather strange character. Even though he was a Red-crowned Crane Beastman, he didn’t like eating the beasts of the forest. He preferred to spend his days strolling by the lake, catching fish.

Several times, he nearly starved his own cubs. If the others hadn’t helped out in their spare time, this third Beast Husband would have been long gone.

His diet was extremely monotonous, and he had a particular fondness for grass carp.

On top of that, he was incredibly concerned with his image—a total diva.

If Feng Qiwu hadn’t mentioned him, Hu Qiumu would have almost forgotten such a person existed.

"After all that talk, I’m still a little lost. So... after your heart changed, what is it you like about the Female Master?"

Feng Qiwu’s rambling stopped. He stared at Hu Qiumu in shock, as if he couldn’t understand how someone so clever could be so dense.

It meant he had wasted his breath. Annoyed, he snapped, "Damn it! After all that, you’re telling me you didn’t get it?"

"I like how she’s so domineering when she protects me, and that cool, aloof way she treats us. I thought I made that perfectly clear. You didn’t get that?"

Hu Qiumu gave an awkward cough and corrected him. "The Female Master might be cool and aloof with you guys, but not with me."

"Besides, from the sound of it, you kind of like being mistreated. In that case, last night must have been right up your alley."

The fiery red fox circled him once, then added, "So, you see, you should be thanking me."

Just because he liked his Female Master’s style didn’t mean everyone else did. Hu Qiumu was clearly just messing with him.

Veins popped on Feng Qiwu’s forehead. He glared at the smug fox at his feet, lifted his leg, and aimed a kick at its rear.

"Thank you, my ass! The hell I’ll thank you!"

The fox was agile and dodged before the kick could land. By the time Feng Qiwu looked again, it had already put a good distance between them.

’He was obviously distracting us with questions to find a chance to escape!’

"What are you standing around for? After him!"

Yu He reacted faster than any of them. The words had barely left Feng Qiwu’s mouth before Yu He was already in pursuit.

----

The tribe had been attacked. Although they were ultimately victorious, there were still many wounded, and Feng Qingqing was among them.

Rumors had already been swirling around the tribe about her designs on Chu Liangyu’s Beast Husbands, and many of the females openly and secretly disliked her. Then, regarding the incident where Cao killed her own Beast Husband, she had remarked that those males deserved to die.

That settled it. She became even more ostracized in the tribe, especially after Chu Liangyu, the leader, returned.

If she weren’t a female of the Phoenix Clan—a group they couldn’t afford to offend—they wouldn’t have even bothered carrying her into the infirmary.

After arriving, Chu Liangyu searched for a long time before finally finding her in a dark, narrow room.

She was still wearing the pouch, but it was now torn to shreds, hanging loosely at her waist.

She was lying on her side with her back to the door. She only stirred slightly when she sensed someone enter. It wasn’t until the pouch was taken from her that she turned to see who had snatched her belongings.

"Give it back!"

Feng Qingqing reached out to grab it, but a sharp pain shot through her legs, making her gasp. In that instant, cold sweat beaded on her forehead.

"It’s completely ruined. What do you still want it for?"

"None of your business."

Seeing her reaction, Chu Liangyu gave a humorless laugh and casually tossed the item back to her.

"I am rather curious, though. If you treasure this thing so much, how did you let it get torn to rags?"

"It was that bastard Xiang Qiancheng! Who else do you think could have done this?!"

Chu Liangyu paused, asking in disbelief, "So you’re saying he saw through it and destroyed the pouch directly?"

Feng Qingqing didn’t answer, but her expression said it all.

’I never would have thought Xiang Qiancheng would be so sharp,’ Chu Liangyu mused, ’to pinpoint the key to the problem so directly.’

"He was kind-hearted enough not to kill you on the spot for your little trick."

Feng Qingqing glared at her. "Kind-hearted my ass! If I hadn’t stressed my identity at the critical moment, he would have killed me. He was just afraid of bringing trouble to your tribe."

Then she pointed to her legs. "See this? This was his handiwork."

Chu Liangyu cleared her throat, her gaze landing on Feng Qingqing’s face. "You were the one in the wrong first. You’re lucky to be alive."

"Now that you’ve failed, do you really think Jiang Li will honor his promise to you? I don’t know what you two agreed upon, but I do know that you’re useless to him now."

"Tell me what drove you to this. Perhaps I can help you."

Feng Qingqing froze, falling into deep thought at Chu Liangyu’s words.

After a long moment, clarity returned to her eyes. She asked, "He said he could help me find a way for females to achieve Beastification. Can you do that too?"

"I can tell you this for certain: he was lying to you. But... I can do it."

"Really?"

A bright light flashed in Feng Qingqing’s eyes as she stared at Chu Liangyu. In her excitement, the pouch fell to the ground, but she didn’t even glance at it.

"I’m sure that during your time in the tribe, you’ve seen Jiaojiao teaching the females some Body Techniques every day. As long as you study diligently, you’ll have a chance at Beastification."

"Then... is that how you achieved Beastification? By learning these?"

Chu Liangyu shook her head. "As for me... to be honest, it was probably just raw talent."

She rubbed her chin, finally offering this somewhat narcissistic explanation.

Feng Qingqing, who had just been so excited, suddenly fell silent. She even looked at Chu Liangyu, completely speechless.
