Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld

Chapter 109 - 108: Never Calls Her Female Master?

"Oh, right. Does your Beast Father know you’re here?"

This was something Chu Liangyu was particularly concerned about. That sly old fox Jiang Li might be using the cubs to set a trap for her.

The two children had guilty looks on their faces. In the end, it was Chu Yue who answered, "Our Beast Father never lets us go out on our own, so... we snuck over here."

"I see." Chu Liangyu nodded, smiling as she gestured for them to sit. "You’ve come at the perfect time. The gifts I promised you were just readied a couple of days ago. Here, take them."

The items from her bracelet appeared on the table, and Chu Liangyu gestured for them to accept the gifts.

She had been wondering if she should find someone to run the errand and deliver them, but before she could act, these two little cubs showed up. It saved her a lot of trouble.

"Beast Mother, what is this sword called?" Chu Yue’s eyes were fixed on the sword for a long moment before she finally looked away to ask Chu Liangyu.

"The Shangqing Xianyue Sword."

Chu Li picked up the Jade Bracelets, gave one to Chu Yue, and only after they both put them on did he remember to ask, "Then what’s this one called?"

"The Heart Connecting Jade Bracelet."

Chu Liangyu gave Cheng Miao and the other person a look, then stood up. "I’m going to take these two little cubs back to my place. I’ll leave the rest to you."

"Okay." Cheng Miao nodded in agreement.

This was someone else’s territory, after all, so Chu Liangyu didn’t think it was right to have the two cubs stay here long with her.

"Chief, please wait a moment."

She hadn’t seen when the Elder had left, but he now emerged from a room holding a tray filled with several kinds of colorful fruits.

Chu Liangyu looked and could just about recognize two types: Red Heart Fruit and Drunk Fruit. The tray also held the fruit the Elder had her taste before, though she didn’t know its name.

"We grew these ourselves. I saw you liked them earlier, Chief, and was planning to have someone send them over later. But since you have two cubs with you, I thought I’d let them have a taste sooner."

She accepted the tray, her tone sincere. "Thank you. That’s very thoughtful of you, Elder."

After leaving the courtyard, Chu Liangyu saw Chi Yizhong’s figure in the distance.

His back was to the courtyard as he stared blankly at the sunset on the horizon. The afterglow washed over him, adding a touch of sadness and loneliness to his already melancholic air.

It was as if a Barrier had formed around him, cutting him off from the prying eyes of outsiders and sealing him within a world of his own.

Just looking at him felt suffocating to Chu Liangyu. She couldn’t help but call out his name, "Chi Yizhong."

In an instant, that invisible, intangible Barrier shattered, seeming to dissolve into motes of starlight. The light reflected on his face, lending him a more peaceful expression.

He turned around, a hint of joy in his eyes. Hearing her call, he strode quickly toward her. "Are you done talking?"

"All done. Let’s go home."

Chu Liangyu took one of his hands and started walking, saying, "It’s time for dinner. What do you think we should have tonight?"

Chi Yizhong glanced down at his hand held in hers, stunned for a moment. Then, the corners of his mouth unconsciously curved into a smile. "Chestnut chicken."

Chu Liangyu sighed with a hint of resignation. "I knew you’d say that."

"Then... should we have something else?"

"Forget it, let’s just have that."

As they spoke, Chi Yizhong took the tray from her hands. "It’s heavy. Let me carry it."

Chu Liangyu smiled at him and said nothing, letting him take it.

"Beast Mother, is he one of your Beast Husbands too?"

Chu Li and Chu Yue, who were following behind, looked puzzled. They had never seen this person before, yet for some reason, they felt an urge to be close to him.

Chu Liangyu said nothing, merely turning her head to look at Chi Yizhong. ’This guy... he’s never called me Female Master. I don’t think I’ve ever even heard him say my name. I didn’t notice before, but now that I think about it, it’s a little strange.’

Being stared at by her like that, a faint blush unconsciously appeared on Chi Yizhong’s face. He pressed his lips together, looked down into Chu Liangyu’s eyes, and replied with a hint of uncertainty, "I... guess so."

’We’ve never done anything intimate, and she’s never mentioned our relationship to anyone.’ The thought made Chi Yizhong’s heart ache slightly, and he flusteredly averted his gaze from hers.

’So... was what I just said too presumptuous? Maybe she doesn’t think of me that way at all. It’s probably all just my own wishful thinking.’

Chu Liangyu couldn’t see his expression clearly, but seeing the side of his face grow increasingly tense, she knew he was overthinking again.

But she really couldn’t figure out what he was thinking. ’Why did he suddenly get upset?’

"I see. Even though this is the first time we’ve met you, we feel that you’re very kind. You must be a very good person."

Chu Li nodded in sudden realization. ’It must be for our Beast Mother’s sake that his attitude toward us is a bit friendlier.’

"By the way, if you’re not in a hurry to leave, you can stay for a few more days." Chu Liangyu remembered she hadn’t arranged a place for them to stay yet, so she said, "It’s getting late. Why don’t you stay at my place for the night? Tomorrow, you can look around the tribe and pick a place you like to live. How about that?"

Chu Liangyu’s worries were gone now, so she genuinely wanted to spend more time with them. Maybe she could even make them so happy they wouldn’t want to go home, and they’d forget about that beehive of a Beast Father.

"Okay!" Chu Li chirped happily, while Chu Yue nodded in agreement.

After returning to the courtyard, Chi Yizhong immediately started preparing the food without pause. He worked with his head down, not saying a word.

It was only when Chu Liangyu came over to help that he spoke: "It’s dirty. Don’t touch it. I can handle it."

Chu Liangyu raised an eyebrow but, seeing his reaction, she put down the things she was holding. With nothing to do, she had no choice but to go back into the house.

The two little cubs, Chu Li and Chu Yue, were very considerate. Seeing Chi Yizhong busy cooking, they went over to help. Of course, they didn’t provide much help and were, in fact, more of a hindrance.

Jiang Li had never let them try cooking for themselves. He always gave them prepared food, or they could just eat things raw, so he never bothered teaching them.

Chi Yizhong remained silent, merely watching, and then cleaned up the disastrous scene.

Chu Li was bustling about happily, seemingly unaware that he was only making things worse, until Chu Yue tugged on his sleeve. "Stop helping. Let’s go outside."

A flash of confusion crossed Chu Li’s eyes just before Chu Yue dragged him straight out of the kitchen.

Finding Chu Liangyu, the two of them obediently sat down to one side.

Chu Liangyu was feeling a bit bored, so when she saw them come over, she pushed the tray toward them. "The fruits are delicious. Have some, but these Drunk Fruits aren’t for you."

"They make your head feel dizzy, and you get a headache after you sober up. If kids eat them, it’ll stunt their growth." After explaining, Chu Liangyu picked the Drunk Fruits out one by one.

’The Elder must have prepared these fruits for me,’ she thought. ’He really is a thoughtful old man.’

"We’ve seen this one before. Our Beast Father also told us not to eat it... but he never said why."

Chu Li’s speech was a bit muffled as he ate a piece of fruit. "So that’s why our Beast Father told us not to eat them."
