Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld

Chapter 108 - 107: Your Strong Has Arrived

"I remember." Chi Yizhong knew what she was reminding him of. After a moment’s thought, he explained, "I saw this herb back then, but I couldn’t identify it. It’s just that lately, strange images have been popping into my head, and this herb was one of them."

"I don’t know the specific symptoms of poisoning from this herb, but I just know that it’s poisonous."

Chu Liangyu blinked. A half-formed theory suddenly occurred to her. ’Could it be that Chi Yizhong is sharing Jiang Li’s memories?’

’I bought the herb from the Black Market. It’s possible Jiang Li set a trap for me back then.’

’No wonder it felt so easy to find. Someone was pulling the strings behind the scenes.’

Although she didn’t know the cause of Chi Yizhong’s unusual state, it was undoubtedly a good thing for her.

The immediate priority was for them to figure out the nature of the poison. As for the solution, once the Hundred Poison Immune Grass was cultivated, the problem would be solved.

So, Chu Liangyu returned to the courtyard. When she entered, the two men were channeling green energy into a water basin. Seeing this, she didn’t rush to speak, quietly waiting off to the side.

"Chief, please say what’s on your mind. We still have energy to spare." The Elder turned his head; from her expression, he could tell she had other matters to discuss, so he spoke up.

"Will emotional instability affect this herb?"

The Elder, not understanding her meaning, glanced at the herb in the basin and said hesitantly, "In that case, Chief, perhaps you should wait a little while. Unstable energy input will greatly diminish the effect."

Chu Liangyu said nothing, simply walking over to find a chair and sit down.

This herb was indeed as troublesome to restore as Xiong Jiaojiao had said. Just watching their constantly changing hand seals—so many she lost count—was making her dizzy. Having lost interest, she simply averted her gaze.

"The rest is just detail work, which we’ll handle bit by bit. Chief, you can speak now." Cheng Miao helped the somewhat drained Elder sit down, tidied up the table, and then spoke.

He, on the other hand, looked quite relaxed. Chu Liangyu, surprised, raised an eyebrow slightly. "Do you remember that Strengthening Essence Grass I gave you?"

"Yes, we remember."

Taking care of the herbs every day, how could they not be familiar with every plant in the medicinal fields? Chu Liangyu’s question was somewhat redundant. However, the two men sensed the matter wasn’t so simple, so they said nothing more and quietly waited for her to continue.

"I was tricked. That herb is poisonous, but the symptoms of the poison are unknown."

"What!"

Cheng Miao shot to his feet in shock. The Elder, perhaps due to his age and experience, appeared much calmer, but the hand he rested on the table trembled slightly.

Chu Liangyu reassured them, "It was my mistake, but there’s no need to worry too much. As long as you cultivate more Hundred Poison Immune Grass before the poison takes effect, the toxins in your bodies should be curable."

’So we have to save ourselves,’ Cheng Miao thought, the corner of his mouth twitching. "What if the poison takes effect sooner than expected?"

"Well..."

Chu Liangyu froze. ’He’s right, what if it takes effect early? I completely forgot about that possibility.’

’I don’t have much Creation Power left. It won’t be enough to save them.’

’Then again, there’s the Trading System. That ice-cold face from the Cultivation World should have plenty of Detoxification Pills. If so, I don’t need to worry too much.’

’Still, it’s best to avoid contact if possible. Getting entangled with him would be a disaster.’

"Just focus on your work. If it really comes to that, I have ways to keep you alive."

Hearing her say this, both men breathed a sigh of relief. Cheng Miao asked, "Chief, you won’t be leaving the tribe for a while, will you?"

It was no wonder he asked. Since the tribe’s founding, the number of days Chu Liangyu had actually spent within it could be counted on one hand.

Chu Liangyu cleared her throat. "I’ll be around for the time being. But you still need to hurry."

Their lives were on the line. Even if Chu Liangyu hadn’t said a word, they would have worked as fast as possible.

"Is the Chief here? Someone’s looking for you."

Just then, someone approached the doorway from a distance, with two other people in tow.

Chu Liangyu, absorbed in her conversation with Cheng Miao and the Elder, subconsciously asked, "Who is it?"

"The carry..."

Before the words even registered, Chu Liangyu heard the sharp SMACK of a slap.

"N-no, that’s not it! It’s... your cubs, Chief."

Because of that one phrase he’d uttered, Chu Liangyu’s head snapped up. That’s when she saw Chu Yue and Chu Li standing beside the man. Instead of speaking to her two cubs first, she addressed the messenger, "What did you just say?"

The man’s gaze darted about. "I said your cubs have arrived, Chief," he replied. "They came from outside the tribe. I only brought them here because that’s what they said. Don’t tell me they were lying?"

Chu Liangyu narrowed her eyes, sizing up the male Beastman. After a long moment, she spoke. "Not that. The second thing you said after you arrived. You said my *what* was here?"

"The carry is here."

Chu Liangyu had only said the first half of the phrase when the man reflexively blurted out the rest. Then he froze, dumbfounded, his eyes darting everywhere.

’This man looks normal on the outside, but the phrase he just blurted out is far too modern. It’s not something anyone from this world would say.’

"What’s your name?"

"I’m... Zhao Zeming." He hesitated for a moment, but seeing no malice in her expression, he gave his name.

Her suspicions confirmed, Chu Liangyu didn’t press further. "They are indeed my cubs," she said. "They didn’t lie to you. Thank you for bringing them. You can go back to what you were doing."

"Y-Yes, of course."

’An outsider in this world means there’s a breach. More might come in the future.’

’And these people, using what they see as advanced methods to drive societal progress, have no idea they’re actually destroying a world.’

There were reasons why Chu Liangyu herself hadn’t been immediately identified as an outsider when she first returned.

First, her soul originally belonged to this world, and the energy she wielded was further proof of her identity. Second, Jiang Li had tampered with the Childbirth System to weaken her presence in this world. And third, she had never tried to change this world using things from another.

’This Zhao Zeming also comes from a similarly advanced civilization, though I don’t know if it’s the same one as mine.’

’This is a world with few females and many males. A man like him is bound to feel stifled here. If that’s the case, he will inevitably try to change things.’

Chu Liangyu grew so lost in thought that she forgot her surroundings and the people with her.

"Chief, what are your arrangements for the cubs?"

Cheng Miao coughed, prompting Chu Liangyu.

Chu Liangyu snapped back to reality. When she looked toward her two cubs, she saw the disappointment on their faces, and she seemed to be the cause.

Blinking, her gaze finally clearing, Chu Liangyu forced a softer tone. "Sorry, I was a bit lost in thought."

Her words served as an implicit explanation for why she hadn’t said a single word to them since their arrival.
