Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 123 - 122: Who, Just Who Is It"Ah, it’s going to take that long?!"
At the speed of Chu Liangyu’s wings, that amount of time was enough to cross half the Beastman World. Xiong Jiaojiao hadn’t expected that, which was why her tone was a bit exaggerated.
"You must keep this a secret. Don’t let anyone know," Chu Liangyu said, her expression turning serious as she looked at her.
Xiong Jiaojiao froze for a moment, then her brow furrowed. "Okay, Sister Liangyu, don’t worry."
"Mm, I’m leaving now."
A faint mist appeared around her, growing thicker and thicker under her control until she vanished into thin air.
Composing herself, Xiong Jiaojiao put on a relaxed smile again and stepped forward to link arms with Chu Liangyu. "Alright, Sister Liangyu, let’s head back."
The clone glanced at her, then gave a slight nod. "Okay."
Meanwhile, the real Chu Liangyu was already a hundred li away from the tribe, her focus split between controlling her clone and searching for the location of Void Island.
The Beast God was equivalent to this world’s Creator God, or perhaps its Guardian. He possessed abilities that no one else in this world could hope to match, and naturally, his responsibilities were commensurate with his power.
The appearance of Chu Liangyu and the other two was meant to help him handle certain matters. He just hadn’t expected the three of them to grow so powerful so quickly. It was a pleasant surprise, but one tinged with concern.
As it turned out, his concerns were not unfounded. The three did indeed develop ambitions to inherit his position. Before he could even decide on a method to choose his successor, Chu Liangyu was schemed against by Jiang Li, and her soul was forced to leave the Beast World.
Fortunately, she was close with Lou Sang at the time, whose power was still intact. She discovered the Childbirth System ahead of schedule and, because of this, decided to play along with their scheme, turning it against them and dragging the mastermind, Jiang Li, and his accomplice, Ye Han, down with her.
According to her original plan, she was supposed to recover her memories and powers earlier than those two. That way, she could not only torment them to her heart’s content but also grow close to the cubs who shared their blood, turning them into a source of her own strength.
Unlike other cubs, the ones Chu Liangyu had with those two possessed pure bloodlines—they could be considered descendants of the Beast God himself. This was one of the reasons she had pulled the two men into her plan in the first place.
Unfortunately, Lou Sang was utterly useless. He searched for ages and only discovered her identity when Chu Liangyu had already broken with the Childbirth System, traded death for freedom, and was on the verge of dying for real.
It was a testament to Chu Liangyu’s excellent self-control that she hadn’t beaten Lou Sang to a pulp. Forget rescuing him—locking him up for a while would have been getting off easy.
However, she also hadn’t expected that the World Spirit would be punished by the Heavenly Dao for interfering in their affairs.
After he helped her modify the Childbirth System, it transformed into the Trading System, which was intrinsically linked to him and drew upon some of his power.
But as the World Spirit, his power was crucial. If it weakened, an increasing number of transmigrators from other worlds or reincarnated individuals would appear and throw this world into chaos.
This was also why she had specifically ordered someone to monitor Zhao Zeming after discovering something was off about him.
As a whirlwind of thoughts raced through Chu Liangyu’s mind, a sudden voice by her ear broke her concentration.
"Beast Mother, we’ve been here too long. Beast Father already knows, and he’s urging us to return."
Through her clone’s eyes, Chu Liangyu saw Chu Li and Chu Yue standing before her. She could see the reluctance on their faces, but they knew they had to leave. Chu Liangyu couldn’t help but smile at their conflicted expressions.
"It’s alright. You’re always welcome in the Beast Mother’s tribe. If you want to visit, just come back anytime."
Even so, Chu Li’s eyes reddened. He stepped forward and hugged Chu Liangyu around the waist, his voice choked with emotion. "Beast Mother, we’ll miss you."
Chu Liangyu faltered, her flying speed slowing involuntarily. The sensations transmitted from her clone told her the little one was a bit nervous.
She controlled her puppet to hug Chu Li back. Catching sight of Chu Yue at the side, she pulled both of them into an embrace. "Since he’s hurrying you, you should get going. Be safe on your way."
They had left on the first day of the tribe’s tournament, after watching the final match. In that sense, their trip hadn’t been a waste.
As she watched them depart through her clone’s eyes, Chu Liangyu was overcome by a wave of complex emotions, though she couldn’t quite put her finger on why.
But in that brief moment of distraction, thunder suddenly crashed by her ear, a rumbling roar that seemed intent on destroying the very heavens and earth.
At the intersection of the East Sea and the South Sea, there was a place perpetually shrouded in storm clouds. The lightning here was infamous for being both unreasonable and violent.
Even if a fly were to pass by, the storm clouds would get annoyed and strike it down.
In the past, when Chu Liangyu lived on Void Island, she was guaranteed to be struck by lightning whenever she went out. But after being struck enough times, she had simply gotten used to it.
So, when she saw a bolt of lightning as thick as a water bucket, she just gave a habitual twitch of her lips and braced herself to take the hit.
But what she didn’t expect was that this lightning seemed to carry a punitive force. Bolts that would normally just leave her sore for a few days now began to destroy the meridians inside her body upon entering.
Instantly, cold sweat beaded on Chu Liangyu’s forehead, and her body couldn’t help but tremble from the pain.
Her vision was quickly affected. Through the blur, she saw fine beads of blood begin to emerge from the skin of her arms.
She instinctively mobilized the energy within her to repair her meridians, but the rate of repair couldn’t keep up with the rate of destruction. As she frowned in thought, her pair of black wings suddenly retracted.
Chu Liangyu’s expression changed. She quickly realized her internal energy was too depleted to maintain her beast form.
Now, all she could do was watch herself fall into the world beneath the storm clouds, a tempest of lightning chasing after her. The mere sight was enough to make one’s scalp tingle in fear.
That last strike had told Chu Liangyu this lightning was different from before. She certainly couldn’t let herself get hit again. Before the next bolt could strike her...
She raised her hand and summoned her trident. In an instant, an ocean-blue energy manifested around the weapon, wrapping her in layer after layer of protection.
The energy seemed gentle, but its defensive power was immense. It not only blocked all the lightning bolts but did so without even a ripple.
Chu Liangyu was not hurt a second time, but her fall toward the water’s surface accelerated.
With a loud SPLASH, Chu Liangyu’s vision was filled with nothing but pale blue water. The trident transformed into a fish tail, encasing her legs.
She quickly came to her senses and began to swing her body, swimming upward to stop herself from sinking further.
The splash from Chu Liangyu’s fall was not small. On the lake’s shore, a Red-crowned Crane that had been strolling leisurely became an unfortunate victim. The once-elegant creature was now, as the saying goes, a drowned rat, standing frozen in a state of bewilderment.
The feathers he had spent so long preening were so easily ruined. At this thought, he couldn’t help but let out a series of sorrowful and furious cranes’ cries.
Finally, he whipped his head around, scanning the area, trying to find the ill-mannered culprit.
"Who? Who was it?!"
"If you have the guts to ruin my look, then stop hiding!"
