Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 141 - 140: Sisters’ GossipChu Liangyu didn’t rush to ask her next question. Instead, she turned to Jinling and said, "You’re tired too. You don’t have to stay here with me. Go on and get some rest."
Jinling was indeed exhausted, so he didn’t even wonder if she was trying to send him away. He simply nodded and agreed, "Alright, I’ll head back then. If you need anything, Female Master, just call for me."
After he left, the only ones remaining on the plaza were the cubs, who were practicing their moves distractedly.
Chu Liangyu knew exactly why they were acting this way. She smiled and nodded at them, then pulled Xiong Jiaojiao aside.
"Did someone wring the truth out of you? Now the secret about my clone is out."
"Sister Liangyu, how did you know?" Xiong Jiaojiao’s eyes widened, and she suddenly seemed to lose her nerve.
"How else would I know? Xiang Qiancheng is with my real body right now."
Chu Liangyu’s blood boiled just thinking about it. Xiong Jiaojiao had promised she could rest easy, but in the end, it was all just empty words.
"Ah, so I’m talking to your clone right now? I couldn’t even tell!"
"Don’t you try to change the subject."
Chu Liangyu had cut off a fair amount of hair to create the clone; there was no way it could have grown back so quickly in just a month.
Besides, Xiong Jiaojiao knew that.
Xiong Jiaojiao blinked, stepping forward to hug her arm ingratiatingly. "Oh, Sister Liangyu, I was just being overly worried back then. I really didn’t mean to."
"I really know I was wrong this time, and I promise it won’t happen again!"
In truth, the moment Chu Liangyu saw her training her cubs in the plaza, most of her anger had already melted away.
There were over a hundred of her cubs, at the very least. Now, Xiong Jiaojiao not only had to train the tribe’s females and their cubs, but she had to add Chu Liangyu’s to the mix.
A single glance revealed a sprawling crowd; all told, there were about three hundred people.
One could only imagine the immense workload.
But just as they had discussed, Xiong Jiaojiao had trained a dozen or so assistants for herself. With them helping to guide the trainees, her own burden was a little lighter.
When it came to Chu Liangyu’s cubs, however, Xiong Jiaojiao was always hands-on. In fact, it would be no exaggeration to say she focused all her attention on them.
"Forget it. Just consider this a lesson. But if you do it again, I’ll have to punish you."
"Hehe, thanks, Sister Liangyu."
Not expecting to get off the hook so easily, Xiong Jiaojiao felt a wave of relief and couldn’t help but let out a huge sigh.
Chu Liangyu sighed softly but didn’t call her out on it. Instead, she glanced in Feng Qingqing’s direction and asked, "While I was gone, she was actually willing to learn from you? Did she cause any trouble?"
"She did."
Xiong Jiaojiao first confirmed Chu Liangyu’s suspicion, then began to explain. "The day after the competition ended, I tried to convince her to start learning with me, but she refused. She insisted on waiting for you to come back."
"But who would have guessed that her older brother would show up at the tribe to take her home? If he’d taken her away, she would have lost her chance to learn the Body Technique."
"As it happened, Hu Qiumu, Feng Qiwu, and Xiong Xianhui were passing by. She used her agreement with you as a threat, and the three of them had no choice but to step in and stop her brother."
Chu Liangyu nodded in understanding, picking up the thread. "And then she realized she couldn’t wait any longer and came to you for lessons herself?"
"Exactly. For a second, I thought she was a completely different person. I almost didn’t recognize her."
Xiong Jiaojiao recalled, adding, "Her entire attitude changed in less than half a day."
Chu Liangyu, however, saw it clearly. Seeing Xiong Jiaojiao’s confusion, she explained, "She was simply backed into a corner. There’s nothing strange about it."
As they were speaking, the very subject of their conversation walked over.
They exchanged a look and, by silent agreement, stopped talking.
Feng Qingqing walked straight up to Chu Liangyu, her tone laced with displeasure. "Weren’t you supposed to teach me personally? Where have you been these past few days?"
Chu Liangyu knew she was at fault, so she didn’t argue. "Something important came up suddenly and I had to leave," she explained. "I admit, I broke my promise."
"So, how about I teach you right now?"
Perhaps because she saw how readily Chu Liangyu admitted her mistake, most of the displeasure on Feng Qingqing’s face vanished.
After a moment of silence, she said, "I’m not so unreasonable as to make you teach me the moment you get back. Starting tomorrow isn’t too late."
Hearing such considerate words from her felt a bit surreal to Chu Liangyu, but she didn’t refuse the offer.
She had just returned and did indeed have many things to attend to.
"In that case, let’s dismiss everyone for the day. I happen to have some things to discuss with Jiaojiao."
Chu Liangyu took a few steps forward and raised her voice. "Starting tomorrow, I will be teaching you all! We’re ending early today, so everyone head back and get some rest."
They had been too distracted to practice since Chu Liangyu’s arrival, so upon hearing this, they all nodded in unison.
They were also thrilled by her announcement; after all, an opportunity like this was rare.
The crowd gradually dispersed, leaving only her cubs, who gazed at her with reluctance.
Chu Liangyu walked forward with a smile, her tone tinged with apology. "I’m sorry. The Beast Mother had planned to start teaching you right after the tournament, but I was unexpectedly delayed by other things."
Wen Yuehong was one of the first cubs to become familiar with Chu Liangyu, and her adoration for her was the strongest of all the younglings.
Upon hearing this, her first reaction wasn’t blame, but joy. "Really? The Beast Mother is going to teach us herself?"
Chu Liangyu hadn’t seen many of the cubs in their humanoid forms, but hearing the somewhat familiar voice, she remembered the girl’s name.
The little girl was just as sweet and endearing as her name suggested.
Chu Liangyu patted her on the head and teased, "Yuehong seems very happy. But you know, the Beast Mother can be very strict when she teaches."
"I’ll still like the Beast Mother anyway."
Her words warmed Chu Liangyu’s heart, and a smile remained on her face.
After sharing a tender moment with the cubs, Chu Liangyu left with Xiong Jiaojiao.
They chatted as they walked, mostly about Chu Liangyu’s upcoming plans.
At first, Xiong Jiaojiao didn’t think much of it. But after hearing the whole plan, she only wanted to say one thing: ’Sister Liangyu, I think you’re the real fox here!’
Then, a smile spread across Xiong Jiaojiao’s face—the kind one would expect from a scheming villain.
Chu Liangyu found this amusing and couldn’t help but say, "Jiaojiao, tone it down a bit. Don’t look so devious."
"Alright, Sister Liangyu."
Xiong Jiaojiao wasn’t offended. She just mimicked a gesture Chu Liangyu had made before, holding up three fingers.
In the time it took to exchange a few more words, they arrived at the courtyard where the Wood Spirit Clan members were staying.
The clansmen were tending to the herb garden. When they saw the two women approach, they stopped their work and walked over.
The Elder, smiling cheerfully as always, greeted Chu Liangyu. "Ah, Chief, you’ve returned from your business?"
"Yes, I’m back. How are you feeling now that the poison has been neutralized, Elder?"
"I’m doing quite well, you have nothing to worry about, Chief," the Elder said with a smile. He then added, "If you have other business, please don’t let us keep you."
Chu Liangyu didn’t say anything more, simply nodding in acknowledgement.
’There’s nothing to be done,’ she thought. ’My real body is still on the road; it’ll be about another day before it gets back.’
’The items I need are with it, too. Otherwise, I would have given them to the Elder already.’
