Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 43 - 42: I Hear Someone’s Spreading Rumors About MeSilence, silence, and more silence.
Chu Liangyu didn’t know how long the stalemate had lasted, but her hand was starting to feel numb.
Her patience worn thin, she said bluntly, "If I’m not mistaken, you’ve been standing by, watching coldly this whole time."
"You want the Life Phosphorus?"
Chu Liangyu released him and steadied herself, asking a question to which she already knew the answer.
"If you return the Life Phosphorus to me, I can promise you one thing in return."
Chu Liangyu scoffed. ’His stupidity is truly astounding. With the Life Phosphorus in my hands, is there anything I can’t make him do? He has a clever-looking face, but he doesn’t use his brain when he speaks.’
Since his head wasn’t clear, Chu Liangyu decided she would make him understand the reality of the situation.
"Now, go help them."
The man, who had been agitated and ready to argue just a moment ago, suddenly went vacant-eyed.
He walked uncontrollably toward the battlefield, found a suitable position, and stood still. His lips moved slightly, and a soft, soul-stirring song flowed out.
With Yu He providing interference from the side, their fight against the black-robed man became noticeably easier.
Taking advantage of the black-robed man’s momentary trance, the two of them unleashed their ultimate moves simultaneously.
Caught off guard, the black-robed man was hit by several attacks. After that, they quickly gained the upper hand in the battle.
But Chu Liangyu found it odd. When the man was injured, he didn’t spit blood; instead, his form seemed to fade slightly.
It was as if he wasn’t a real person at all, but merely a clone.
The black-robed man’s form grew increasingly transparent until, at the very end, he was just a wisp of a phantom floating in the air. A single final blow would be enough to make him dissipate.
The black-robed man showed no signs of panic or fear. On the contrary, he seemed quite at ease, waiting for their final strike.
The trident, which had long since transformed into a bracelet, suddenly stirred. It shot forward at incredible speed, hovering before the black-robed man.
A hint of confusion crossed the black-robed man’s face, but the immense suction force that followed instantly made his expression change.
Surrounded, he had no chance to escape even if he wanted to.
At the same time, in a deep abyss somewhere, a man gasped for breath and his eyes snapped open.
"What a clever move!"
He never imagined the trident had such an ability. That was a part of his Divine Sense!
If it had been dispersed, he could have recalled it. But if the trident absorbed it, it would become nourishment for his opponent.
Furthermore, because she now carried his aura, even some forbidden grounds would allow Chu Liangyu to come and go as she pleased.
He felt like someone who’d been forced to swallow a bitter pill in silence, unable to voice his suffering.
If she never found the forbidden grounds and never went inside, he might have felt a little better.
After absorbing his clone, the trident flared with brilliant light, its previous sluggishness gone.
As it flew toward Chu Liangyu, it wobbled as if it were comfortably drunk.
Chu Liangyu caught it with a sigh of resignation. Thankfully, it still knew what to do, transforming back into a bracelet and latching onto her wrist.
"Sister Liangyu, it’s so sentient!"
"It’s probably developed a consciousness," Chu Liangyu said, the corners of her lips curving up. She was in a good mood. "By the way, are you hurt anywhere?"
Xiong Jiaojiao shook her head. "I’m not hurt, but it was a close call. It’s all thanks to him for diverting the black-robed man’s attention."
Behind Xiong Jiaojiao, Chi Yizhong watched them without saying a word.
’We were practically strangers, yet now I owe him such a huge favor.’
Chu Liangyu walked over, looked up at him, and asked, "Thank you. Are you hurt anywhere?"
"No."
Elsewhere, Yu He had long since returned to normal. Watching Chu Liangyu fuss over someone else, he felt an indescribable awkwardness.
’I helped too, for crying out loud, but she can’t even be bothered to spare me a glance. She’s just leaving me hanging.’
It wasn’t that he cared so much about Chu Liangyu, but the difference in treatment stung.
Thinking back on the feeling of being controlled by the Life Phosphorus, a sense of indignation welled up inside him.
Just as his mood soured, Chu Liangyu actually started walking toward him.
’Is she coming to check on me?’
Not sure if it was happiness or something else, he unconsciously straightened his posture, waiting for Chu Liangyu to speak.
But when she did speak, Yu He was not happy.
"Give me some Mermaid Tears." Chu Liangyu held out her hands, demanding them with brazen confidence.
’There are so many people here! She wants me to cry right now? Can’t she show me a little respect?’
So, he gritted his teeth and bit out each word, "No one’s even hurt, what do you need them for!"
"As a thank-you gift for him."
Chu Liangyu tilted her chin, gesturing for him to look at Chi Yizhong.
Yu He was about to explode with anger. He said, "He wouldn’t care about something like that. Why don’t you just ask him what he wants?"
’After protecting Chu Liangyu so desperately, I refuse to believe that guy doesn’t have something in mind.’
Pausing for a moment, Chu Liangyu thought about it and realized he was probably right.
So she didn’t insist, asking instead, "Is there anything you want? As long as it’s within my power, I’ll do my best to get it for you."
"I want to follow you."
After speaking, his eyes remained fixed on Chu Liangyu.
Chu Liangyu was all for having such a powerful person willing to follow her.
"Alright."
’As for whether he’ll regret it after discovering she has no fixed residence, well, that’s another matter entirely.’
For now, they needed to hurry back and meet up with Hu Qiumu, then travel together to Feng Qiwu’s tribe to see how he was doing.
At that moment, Feng Qiwu had just returned to his tribe, only to find that it had been destroyed, with almost nothing left.
It looked like a great battle had taken place. For the safety of the cubs, he quickly evacuated with them.
A Phoenix Cry reached Hu Qiumu’s ears. Thinking it was Chu Liangyu and the others returning, he immediately looked up.
"Feng Qiwu!"
The shout made him pause. After circling above the source of the voice for a moment, Feng Qiwu finally spotted Hu Qiumu and the others.
"What are you doing here? Where’s the Female Master?"
"I should be asking you that! Weren’t you forcibly taken? The Female Master went to rescue you. Where is she?"
Both were stunned by the other’s question. Feng Qiwu landed and transformed into his human form.
He walked toward Hu Qiumu, with six cubs following closely behind him.
"Who started that rumor? I’m perfectly fine."
"Do you know a Phoenix named Feng Zhen?"
Feng Qiwu frowned and shook his head. "Never heard of him. No one in the tribe has that name."
Hu Qiumu’s expression suddenly changed. "This is bad. The Female Master might be in danger."
He was anxious, but he had several cubs to look after and couldn’t just leave.
He had no choice but to say, "You’re a fast flier. I’ll watch the cubs for you. You go find the Female Master."
After the Mermaid, the rabbit, and his own fox cubs, he now had a flock of Phoenix cubs.
Mr. Hu figured, in for a penny, in for a pound. Raising one cub was the same as raising a group; another flock made no difference to him.
"All these cubs, can you handle it?" Feng Qiwu raised an eyebrow, looking at him doubtfully.
"What do you think?"
"Fine, I’ll leave them with you. But if anything happens to my little ones, I’m holding you responsible."
’Of course, he knew what a hassle it would be to look after another’s cubs. But for Chu Liangyu’s sake, he had no choice.’
The Phoenix Feathers glowed with a touch of mystery under the setting sun. The long plumes fluttered in the wind, leaving Hu Qiumu with a magnificent view of Feng Qiwu’s departing back.
