Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 42 - 41: Reinforcements Have ArrivedAt Chu Liangyu’s command, the water swirled rapidly around them, kicking up a gust of wind.
A moment later, Chu Liangyu stopped and pointed directly at the man in black.
In the next instant, an overwhelming torrent of seawater surged toward the man.
The sheer scale of the attack would strike fear into any observer, making them instinctively want to flee.
Faced with such a violent torrent, a transparent barrier materialized around the man in black, blocking the water.
Countless feathers swirled within the water, obscuring the man’s vision. By the time everything settled, the two women had vanished.
After a brief moment of surprise, he quickly regained his composure and stood perfectly still.
Just then, Chu Liangyu and Xiong Jiaojiao’s figures suddenly appeared behind him.
The short blade and vines struck at him once more, and the barrier surrounding him shattered on impact.
Just as they were about to hit him, the man in black vanished, using the exact same tactic they had just used.
Chu Liangyu’s expression changed. She immediately retreated to guard against a sneak attack.
But before she could steady herself, the man in black reappeared at her left.
A massive white arrow shot toward her. It was so close that Chu Liangyu had no time to react.
The arrow was aimed straight between her eyebrows. Even with her Vestment robe, it would be useless against such an attack.
Chu Liangyu’s breath caught in her throat. Her body suddenly froze, refusing to obey her commands.
She could only watch helplessly as the arrow drew closer. However, the faint trembling of the trident in her hand snapped her out of her terror.
Instinctively, she raised the trident like a shield to block the fatal blow.
The arrow’s power was immense. Chu Liangyu was sent flying, landing heavily on the ground.
All this took only a few moments.
"Sister Liangyu, are you alright?"
Xiong Jiaojiao ran over and helped her up, her eyes filled with worry.
"I’m fine."
No sooner had she spoken than she felt a tickle in her throat. She turned her head to cough but ended up spitting out a large mouthful of blood.
Perhaps from the force of the impact, Chu Liangyu felt dizzy and light-headed, as if she had a fever.
The hand holding the trident trembled uncontrollably, but she held on tight, refusing to let it fall.
She could feel that the trident had taken far more damage than she had.
’It’s only been with me for a few days, and it’s already suffered such a blow.’ A deep sense of apology rose in Chu Liangyu’s heart.
She subconsciously stroked the trident and whispered, "You’ve been through a lot."
The trident, which had just been listless, grew lively at her words, even letting out a soft hum.
Chu Liangyu paused, her gaze softening.
"I thought you had some impressive tricks up your sleeve. It seems I overestimated you."
"Then again, you’re not the real ’her’ yet, after all."
As if in regret, the man in black shook his head, the interest he had shown moments before now gone.
He raised his hand, and a black sword slowly materialized in his palm.
It was covered in intricate runes that sent a chill down one’s spine just by looking at them.
’Who is this "her" the man in black keeps mentioning?’
Chu Liangyu didn’t know, but she was certain it had something to do with her.
It was just that... this sword looked strangely familiar.
In a daze, fragmented images flashed through her mind.
But it was only for a fleeting moment, and Chu Liangyu had no time to process what they were.
The Black Sword hovered majestically in mid-air, waiting only for its master’s command to take both their lives.
Sensing the danger, Xiong Jiaojiao instinctively sent out her vines, wrapping them around the two of them.
But unlike before, this time they couldn’t even block it for a moment.
The Black Sword tore straight through the layers of vines, stabbing directly toward them.
Chu Liangyu tried to move her trident, wanting to command the power of the sea, but found she was too weak, with no energy left to fight.
Sweat beaded on Xiong Jiaojiao’s forehead, her heart filled with the despair of facing death.
CLANG...
The sound of metal on metal rang out. The body of the Black Sword was struck by a fist, forcing it off course to graze past Chu Liangyu’s hair.
"Who are you?"
Chi Yizhong didn’t speak. From start to finish, his gaze remained fixed on Chu Liangyu.
After that initial flash of concern, his expression had returned to its usual placid state.
He stood protectively in front of the two women, silently facing off against the man in black.
Being completely ignored, the man in black grew irritated.
Besides ’her’, this was the first person who could block a full-powered strike from him. It gave him the terrifying feeling that things were slipping out of his control.
"What is she to you? Why are you protecting her?"
But Chi Yizhong was as tight-lipped as a clam, refusing to say a single word.
’How can this guy be even more stoic than me?’ The man in black ground his back teeth, annoyed.
’Since he’s here to stop me, I might as well get rid of them both.’
With that thought, he recalled the Black Sword and began to fight Chi Yizhong.
Chu Liangyu and Xiong Jiaojiao exchanged a shocked glance. ’He truly is the Ocean Dominator. His power is incredible.’
Facing the man in black, Chi Yizhong was actually able to hold his own.
But it was clear that winning would still be difficult.
Chu Liangyu took a breath and forced herself to stand. When Xiong Jiaojiao moved to help her, she waved her away.
"I’m fine. Go help him. Don’t worry about me."
"Alright. Then you take care of yourself, Sister Liangyu."
Xiong Jiaojiao agreed and sent countless vines from behind her to coordinate an attack with Chi Yizhong.
Chu Liangyu’s face was ashen. No wonder Xiong Jiaojiao had been so worried and given that last warning.
Watching the battle, her brow furrowed slightly. The breeze lifted her robes, revealing her slender frame and making her appear even more fragile.
Focused on the fight, Chu Liangyu didn’t notice the cyan fish tail that had broken the surface of the sea.
A song as light as a feather began to drift through the air. Chu Liangyu froze. Realizing something, she narrowed her eyes slightly.
The Carp Essence on her person blocked most of the song’s control.
But because she was so heavily injured, she was inevitably affected to some degree.
She ruthlessly bit the tip of her tongue. The metallic taste of blood and the searing pain that followed instantly cleared her mind.
But she gave no sign, pretending that her mind had been controlled.
Her eyes went dull, and she stood there like a wooden puppet.
Seeing this, Yu He emerged from the water. Taking advantage of the fight, he silently approached Chu Liangyu.
He had known it was impossible for Chu Liangyu to be completely unaffected by his song, especially when she was so grievously wounded.
He’d only meant to try his luck, but he never expected it to succeed exactly as he’d imagined.
He first fumbled around Chu Liangyu’s waist, but found nothing after a long moment.
Then he checked her sleeves, with the same result. He couldn’t find the Life Scale.
The only place left to search was her chest. Yu He glanced at it, his hand freezing for an instant before he resumed his search as if nothing had happened.
At the same time, Chu Liangyu’s expression turned icy.
’It seems he’s dead set on getting the Life Scale back.’ Chu Liangyu, of course, had no intention of letting him have it.
"What are you looking for?"
Her short blade was pressed against his neck as Chu Liangyu asked the question coolly.
Yu He’s movements froze. He quickly realized Chu Liangyu had been faking it the whole time.
And so, all of his actions now seemed utterly ridiculous.
