When the red light dissipated, Chu Liangyu’s expression changed. A moment of confusion passed.

Chu Liangyu shook her head, her mind clearing.

The giant black stone had been reduced to dust, but Chu Liangyu had no memory of how it happened.

But she felt it had something to do with her. Turning her head, she saw Xiong Jiaojiao reacting the same way.

Except... a pair of wings had sprouted from her back!

They were like a cicada’s wings but were mostly gold, glittering brilliantly in the sunlight.

Xiong Jiaojiao realized it too, her mouth agape in surprise. "Sister Liangyu, how... how did I grow wings?"

"And, Sister Liangyu, you’ve turned back into your beast form! This is the second time I’ve seen you like this!"

Chu Liangyu froze, only noticing her own unusual state when she looked down.

But recalling the World Spirit’s instructions, a flicker of worry rose in her heart.

Her transformations were always uncontrollable. ’This time,’ she thought, ’I don’t know how I’ll change back.’

As she had that thought, the features of her Beastification receded, and Chu Liangyu returned to normal.

Suddenly, Chu Liangyu’s breath hitched. She had just thought about changing back, and it had actually happened.

’Does that mean I can now transform at will?’

Filled with anticipation, Chu Liangyu silently thought, ’Beastification.’

Her body followed her will, and her beast form reappeared.

"You... you can transform at will now!"

The excitement in Xiong Jiaojiao’s eyes was uncontrollable. She seemed even happier than Chu Liangyu herself.

Chu Liangyu looked at her, just as happy, and nodded. "It seems so."

"Sister Liangyu, try it again! Try it again!"

Chu Liangyu took a deep breath and tried a few more times.

Ultimately, she was able to successfully transform back into her beast form every time.

"AHHHH... Sister Liangyu, you’re amazing!"

"You’ve gotten stronger again!"

Xiong Jiaojiao excitedly hugged her, dancing around with joy.

Chu Liangyu was also left dizzy by this development. It took her a long moment to compose herself.

"You’ve done well yourself, evolving wings."

It was a known fact that the difference between an Elf with wings and one without was immense.

Generally, only Elf Kings had wings, which was a symbol of immense power.

An Elf King could make other Elves of their kind obey their commands unconditionally, without any chance of defiance.

The only way to escape this control was to be an Elf of an equal level.

With her newfound power, Xiong Jiaojiao had more ways to attack. In addition to her vines, she could now compel the surrounding plants to aid her in battle.

"This is great! I can be of more help to you now."

Xiong Jiaojiao’s eyes curved into smiling crescents. Her words, spoken with such wholehearted devotion to Chu Liangyu, warmed her heart.

"But... how did we end up like this?"

"Why don’t I remember anything?" Xiong Jiaojiao rubbed the back of her head, her voice filled with confusion.

"I... I’m not sure either."

Chu Liangyu was puzzled, but she didn’t feel any pressing need for an answer.

"All right, we can talk about this later. But..." Chu Liangyu paused, then continued, "Something seems off with the little cub."

"Come on, let’s go back and ask her what’s going on."

With that, Xiong Jiaojiao pulled her along, and the two of them walked back.

Whether it was due to their increased strength or not, they now moved as if on wings. Their speed was incredible, and they arrived at their destination a moment later.

Hu Qiumu had not yet returned. Feng Qiwu, bored, was teasing the little cub, ignoring everything else.

In front of Yu He, however, the little cub—Yu Youwei—lay on the ground, unconscious.

Xiong Jiaojiao, who had arrived ready to demand answers, saw this and her expression immediately fell.

"What happened to her?"

"I only saw her collapsed by the river. I don’t know anything else."

Chu Liangyu stepped forward to examine her and found that she was merely unconscious; there was nothing else wrong with her.

’Tsk. Looks like we won’t be getting any answers out of her.’

"Female Master, I’m back."

Just then, Hu Qiumu’s voice drifted over.

Beside him was Xiang Qiancheng, who she had not seen in a long time.

In terms of appearance, he was certainly a match for any of her Beast Husbands.

His gray-blue hair cascaded to his waist, making his already fair skin seem even softer. His gaze was as calm and gentle as ever, as if nothing in the world could stir his emotions.

In the Beast World, where adornments were rare, he wore a headband woven from plants.

And though he appeared gentle, he was a towering one-point-nine meters tall, giving him an unintentionally imposing presence.

"Female Master, I am willing to follow you, but..."

Chu Liangyu looked at him without speaking, quietly waiting for his next words.

"It’s just that I’ve only just been chosen as my tribe’s new leader. It would be improper for me to leave so suddenly. May I be allowed to make the proper arrangements before I join you?"

"Of course."

Chu Liangyu was in a good mood, just a little curious about how Hu Qiumu had convinced Xiang Qiancheng.

So, her gaze lingered on Hu Qiumu for an extra moment.

Hu Qiumu, however, misunderstood her, thinking she was asking why the other person had not come.

He explained, "I went to look for Jinling, but I couldn’t find him."

"Perhaps it wasn’t that you couldn’t find him."

"Female Master, you mean he’s deliberately avoiding us?"

Hu Qiumu was very smart and immediately understood Chu Liangyu’s meaning.

Chu Liangyu nodded, confirming his suspicion.

"Regarding this matter... there is another reason."

Both Chu Liangyu and Hu Qiumu were confused and looked at Xiang Qiancheng in unison.

Xiang Qiancheng frowned, hesitating to speak. After a long moment, he sighed as if the words were difficult to say.

"Female Master, if you wish to know the whole story, you can come with me to a certain place."

"Alright, I’ll go with you."

Chu Liangyu’s interest was piqued. ’Could it be that Jinling has some painful secret?’

Led by Xiang Qiancheng, the group headed toward a location deep in the forest.

Midway there, Xiang Qiancheng seemed to hesitate, pausing for a moment.

But it was only for an instant. He then continued forward, leading the way.

Suddenly, a sound that would make anyone blush reached their ears.

The unprepared group froze for a second, thinking they had just imagined it.

But the sound came again, growing even more brazen.

An awkward silence descended upon the group.

The sounds were coming from behind a giant, ancient tree.

"The other reason you mentioned... this is it?"

Chu Liangyu never imagined she would witness such a sordid scene.

"Sister Liangyu, those are the two people I told you about."

"It’s been this long, and they’re still not finished? That’s really something," Xiong Jiaojiao exclaimed in amazement, then added, "Don’t tell me you know them?"

Chu Liangyu was a very possessive person. She could decide she did not want a Beast Husband, but he absolutely could not betray her.

It was not a question of deep affection; Chu Liangyu simply found it repulsive.

She had borne cubs for them. She did not expect anything in return, but the least they could do was show her some respect, could they not?

Taking a deep breath, Chu Liangyu tried to calm her emotions, but found that the more she tried, the angrier she became.

Furrowing her brow, Chu Liangyu said to Hu Qiumu, "Go see if it’s him."

"Yes." Hu Qiumu’s face was grim, and his voice was terrifyingly low as he responded.
