"Female Master, it’s him."

A cold glint flashed in Chu Liangyu’s eyes as she strode over.

Hu Qiumu had covered the two people on the ground with a simple animal hide, sparing them from being too much of an eyesore.

With so many people suddenly appearing, the female clutched her clothes in fear and backed away.

Perhaps their presence was too intimidating, as she ended up grabbing the hide and running off in terror.

Chu Liangyu paid her no mind, her gaze falling instead on Jinling, whose face was an unnatural shade of red.

He seemed utterly exhausted, lying motionless on the ground. The bloodshot veins in his eyes were prominent, giving him a decadent and sickly appearance.

Jinling’s gaze drifted upward, and he saw Chu Liangyu.

He frowned and shook his head, then reached up to rub his temples, clearly in discomfort.

His voice was hoarse as he called out to her, "Female Master."

"You still consider me your Female Master?"

"Of course."

A mocking smile touched Chu Liangyu’s lips. "Then what were you just doing?"

"Just sleeping. What else could I be doing?"

Furious, Chu Liangyu slapped him across the face. The sound was so loud that the others behind her were stunned.

They had never seen Chu Liangyu like this; they could feel the sheer depth of her rage from the sound of the slap alone.

"You... why did you hit me?!"

"You were the one I was hitting."

But one slap wasn’t enough to vent her anger.

"Jiaojiao, Hu Qiumu, tie him up and bring him back."

Xiong Jiaojiao’s intuition told her she should stay out of this, so she hadn’t followed them to see what was happening.

Startled to hear Chu Liangyu call her name, she quickly answered, "Alright, Sister Liangyu, I’m coming."

"Hey, what are you guys doing? I was just taking a nap. Is all this really necessary?"

Xiong Jiaojiao spat on the ground, her expression full of disgust. "Scum."

"Hey... what’s that supposed to mean!"

A Beastman who already had a Female Master fooling around with others was sure to be scorned by everyone.

Xiong Jiaojiao despised this kind of person more than anything, so after her sharp retort, she couldn’t be bothered to spare him another word.

The way they tied him up was extremely rough; they might as well have wrapped the ropes around his head too.

Chu Liangyu knew she was standing up for her, but seeing Jinling’s predicament, the corner of her mouth couldn’t help but twitch.

She wanted to laugh but managed to stifle it.

The fire of her rage subsided considerably because of this, and she gradually calmed down.

As for how to deal with this guy later, that was another matter entirely.

"Female Master, I will handle the tribe’s affairs as quickly as possible. It’s getting late, so I’ll be heading back now."

After saying this, Xiang Qiancheng turned and left.

"Fine, go ahead."

Chu Liangyu didn’t think much of it, simply acknowledging him and letting him go.

Meanwhile, the Lion Tribe was in complete chaos because they couldn’t find their new chief.

The previous chief of the Lion Tribe had grown old and died of illness, and it just so happened that the tribe’s strongest male had returned.

Naturally, Jinling was appointed the new chief. Xiang Qiancheng had never mentioned this, so Chu Liangyu and the others had no idea.

At the same time, the long-standing balance between the two sides was broken.

Although the two clans had always been fighting, it was mostly of the "you take a piece of my territory, I take a piece of yours" variety.

Over the years, both sides had their share of wins and losses, resulting in a strange sort of equilibrium.

"Make your move."

With a calm and unquestionable command, the Elephant Clan Beastmen hiding in the shadows charged out.

The surprise attack was swift and silent. The Lion Beastmen guarding the territory had no time to react.

A few Beastmen managed to escape and report back. Upon hearing the news, the Elders immediately thought of their new chief.

They sent people to find him, but after searching for a long time, they couldn’t find a trace of him.

In that short amount of time, the Lion Tribe had already suffered heavy losses from the ambush.

"Take the remaining Beastmen. We... will retreat."

"But if we retreat, we’ll lose a lot of territory!"

"That’s right! How could we face our ancestors who fought so hard for this land?"

The Great Elder’s face was grim. He shot a look at the two who had spoken. He knew that all too well.

But, as long as we’re alive, we can rebuild.

"I said retreat, do you hear me?!"

"Keep whining, and I’ll throw you two out first."

When the Great Elder got angry, he spared no one’s feelings and always kept his word.

The two exchanged a look and wisely shut their mouths.

The surviving Lion Beastmen withdrew, and the Elephant Clan Beastmen successfully occupied most of their territory.

In that moment, some celebrated while others mourned.

"Chief, your plan was truly divine!"

"Having you is our great fortune!"

The praises continued unabated, but Xiang Qiancheng showed not a hint of pride.

His expression was calm and gentle, giving off a trustworthy and reassuring aura.

"It was mainly thanks to all your efforts. I didn’t do much."

"Not at all, Chief! It was our duty."

...

Seven days passed since Xiang Qiancheng returned to his tribe, and no one had seen him since.

During that time, Hu Qiumu had gone to inquire about him, but was turned away each time by his clansmen, who claimed Xiang Qiancheng was busy with official duties.

As time ticked by, Chu Liangyu started to grow anxious.

They still didn’t know when they would reach the Beast World Center. If they couldn’t make it before winter, they would be in trouble.

Gradually, Chu Liangyu also began to feel that something was wrong.

"Go investigate again. If necessary, use your Talent Skills to make them tell the truth."

"Yes, Female Master. I understand."

After Hu Qiumu left, Chu Liangyu still felt uneasy, especially when she looked at Jinling’s face.

Perhaps because he had been thoroughly tormented, Jinling instinctively flinched at her gaze, trying to make himself smaller.

As Chu Liangyu paced back and forth in frustration, she suddenly heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

It wasn’t the sound of normal walking; the person seemed panicked and rushed.

Following the sound with her eyes, she saw a male Beastman in the distance, clutching a bleeding chest and staggering.

His injuries must have been severe, as beast-like features began to appear on his body.

It was a Lion Beastman. He clearly hadn’t expected to find so many people here.

He instinctively grew wary, and his forward steps halted.

"Chief!"

"I’ve finally found you!"

Suddenly spotting a familiar figure in the corner, he lunged forward in excitement.

But he forgot about the wound on his chest.

Caught off guard by the sudden movement, he grimaced in pain.

"What happened to you?"

"Chief, that leader of the Elephant Clan is shameless!"

"He took advantage of your absence to launch a sneak attack on the tribe."

"We were caught unprepared and lost more than half our people."

Hearing this, Jinling immediately shot to his feet, exclaiming, "Damn it, we’ve fallen into a trap!"

Chu Liangyu overheard their conversation and instantly understood what Jinling meant.

Xiang Qiancheng had used her to detain Jinling, while he himself took the opportunity to ambush the Lion Tribe and seize their territory.

In other words, she, Chu Liangyu, had been used as a pawn.

His so-called ’handling of affairs’ was, in all likelihood, just an excuse.

Xiang Qiancheng had never intended to follow her at all.

His acting was too natural, and he always kept his true intentions hidden. Chu Liangyu never realized he was so cunning.

’But if he had the audacity to use me, then he’d better be prepared for my revenge.’

Chu Liangyu’s eyes turned sharp and cold as she walked toward the two who were speaking.

"I can help your tribe out of this crisis, but I have one condition."

"You must recognize me as your new chief."
