"If you’re so worried they can’t find their way back, why don’t you go yourself!"
"It’s always so easy for you to talk."
Hu Qiumu’s expression soured. He gave him a dark look, wanting to say something but forcibly holding it back.
"Stop arguing. You’ve been at it ever since I arrived. I don’t know how your Female Master keeps you in line."
"Is it your place to speak?"
Hu Qiumu’s voice was cold, his hostile gaze sweeping over Feng Qingqing.
Whether it was to spite Hu Qiumu or for some other reason, Feng Qiwu moved to stand protectively in front of Feng Qingqing.
This Feng Qingqing’s appearance was very abrupt. Anyone with eyes could see she had come here with an agenda.
As for what that agenda was, Chu Liangyu had an outrageous guess.
’Could it be... she’s here to steal my men?’
’She’s certainly naive. Each of these men’s minds is as complex as a hornet’s nest; even I can’t guess what they’re thinking sometimes.’
’But why is Feng Qingqing so determined to steal my men? Or is someone pulling the strings from behind?’
Chu Liangyu scoffed softly and muttered to herself, "Her methods are as shady as ever."
She’d deal with this matter when she returned. The pressing issue was to get to the Black Market.
The young cubs’ coming of age was just days away. If she didn’t hurry, it might be too late.
Ignoring the bickering group, she turned and left.
As if by some sixth sense, Chi Yizhong appeared on the path she was taking.
"Can I go with you?"
"But you don’t have wings. It would be inconvenient for me to take you."
Chu Liangyu had no intention of hiding her beast form; it was the fastest and most effective way to travel.
If Chi Yizhong insisted on coming, she would have to fly with him, which would undoubtedly just be causing trouble for herself.
"You just focus on traveling. I can keep up."
Chu Liangyu fell silent, though she wanted to say more.
Then she remembered he had a golden Token. It might be helpful for this trip to the Black Market. It would be even better if she could use it to find *that* guy directly.
She quickly changed her mind.
"In that case, you can follow along."
"Okay."
Something seemed to shift in his gloomy eyes, and a faint smile touched the corners of his lips.
It gave off a surprisingly clear and stunning feeling.
Though it seemed transparent at a glance, Chu Liangyu felt it was too shallow, making it appear very fragile.
Chu Liangyu unfurled a pair of black wings, kicking up a gust of wind that made Chi Yizhong’s white robes whip about.
He had said he could keep up, so Chu Liangyu flew at her own pace.
But thankfully, Chi Yizhong hadn’t been lying. Whenever she had a spare moment to glance down, she could always spot his figure, following at a consistent distance.
He was clearly keeping up with ease.
Her power was on a different level now. While she wouldn’t claim to be the strongest in the Beast World...
...even her own Beast Husbands were like children in her hands, easily subdued.
But Chi Yizhong’s strength...
’Something’s not right. This is very wrong.’
Chu Liangyu’s willow-leaf brows furrowed slightly. A new layer of caution formed in her heart.
She intentionally picked up the pace, but no matter what, Chi Yizhong managed to keep up perfectly.
’It seems I’m in for quite a few discoveries on this trip.’
Chu Liangyu pulled her gaze away and stopped paying attention to the figure below, instead accelerating toward Ten Thousand Beasts City.
"We’re here."
Behind her, Chi Yizhong’s face was full of confusion. "Why did we need to come here?"
"To..." She paused, handing her token to the gatekeeper. "To trade, of course."
One of the Beast Husbands she had originally sought out on the Trading System’s instructions was the operator behind the Black Market—her tenth Beast Husband, Jiang Li.
Since he was capable of tripping her up, Chu Liangyu guessed he couldn’t be far.
And this place was the most likely location to find him.
She just wasn’t sure if Jiang Li would actually come out to see her.
This trip was purely to try her luck.
If it really didn’t work out, she’d have to find a solution through the Trading System.
She wasn’t sure what kind of item could make a cub mature early, and finding a solution on the Trading System wouldn’t be easy.
Choosing the easier of the two options, she had decided to look for Jiang Li.
Of course, she couldn’t rule out the possibility that he was involved in this matter, but it was just a guess. She needed a definitive answer.
"What are you looking for? I’ll help you."
"I’m looking for a devious little man named Jiang Li." Chu Liangyu watched his face for any flicker of abnormality as she added, "Do you know him?"
Chi Yizhong’s eyes were blank as he shook his head. "I don’t know him. But you can tell me what he looks like, and I’ll help you find him."
His expression was so innocent that Chu Liangyu couldn’t help but wonder if she was overthinking things.
"He’s... a very pretentious person. If you see someone who gives you that impression at first glance, let me know. There’s an eighty percent chance it’s him."
’Does such a person really exist?’
The description was rather abstract, which would certainly make finding the person a hassle.
But since that’s what she said, he would just have to search according to her instructions.
’Looks pretentious,’ he thought, and Chi Yizhong actually began to search in earnest.
Chu Liangyu’s mouth twitched. If this guy really was a clone of Jiang Li, his acting was just too good.
He could totally win an Oscar for it. But because of that, much of her suspicion faded.
"I think that person looks pretty pretentious. Look, is that him?"
Chu Liangyu followed the direction he was pointing and, after getting a clear look, found herself fiercely agreeing with him.
The Black Market had its share of human trafficking. Everyone who came here tacitly accepted this and didn’t question where the people came from.
The one even Chi Yizhong found pretentious was a newly adult male Beastman. He showed little emotion, a contemptuous smile always hanging on his lips.
Young people are often wild and unrestrained, which was understandable, but to act like this in such a situation...
Chu Liangyu felt the person was either brain-dead or just plain sick.
"Mm, he is indeed pretentious, but he’s not the person I’m looking for."
After just one glance, Chu Liangyu lost interest. "You still have that gold Token, right? Let’s go see if there are any other stalls."
However, something seemed off about the young boy. Ever since he saw her, his expression had changed.
His eyes were filled with a restrained sense of familiarity, his gaze following her every move.
As Chu Liangyu and Chi Yizhong headed elsewhere, the surging crowd was about to swallow them from view.
"Beast Mother, don’t go! I’m your cub!"
"My Beast Father is Yu Tu."
’Yu Tu?’
Chu Liangyu remembered that guy had parted ways with them after helping them rescue someone. She hadn’t been in the mood to recruit anyone back then and hadn’t paid his departure much mind.
But now, how could the cub who looked so weak that day be here?
Not only had he been captured to be sold, but he had also achieved Beastification prematurely.
His Beastification was possibly... related to the Desperate Fruit.
Her steps, already carrying her away, changed direction, and Chu Liangyu walked back.
Pushing through the crowd, Chu Liangyu found the stall owner. "I want to buy him. What do you want in exchange?"
The stall owner was actually a bit nervous. He had finally gotten some merchandise, only to run into a parent.
But thankfully, the female didn’t seem to be looking for trouble. He breathed a huge sigh of relief and put on a professional smile. "A newly adult White Tiger. You... it’d be even better if you had a Desperate Fruit."
Chu Liangyu didn’t have a Desperate Fruit, but she had a Wood Spirit Clan Beastman with her.
But she couldn’t possibly trade him. If she revealed him, with so many prying eyes in the crowd, news that she possessed such a being would spread everywhere in no time.
