Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld

Chapter 83 - 82: Never Was a Good Person

"The subtle waves of energy in the area affected them, causing the blood in their bodies to boil and inducing a premature Beastification."

’No wonder Jiang Li didn’t make any outrageous demands. The reason was so brutally simple; if I had just calmed down and thought about it, I would have figured it out myself in a day or two.’

"If this is the cause, it won’t have any adverse effects on them."

"So, starting today, you will stay here and keep me company for a month."

Everyone knew the dangers of maturing prematurely. How could it be as harmless as he claimed?

Chu Liangyu’s expression was grave. She didn’t believe his nonsense for a second.

"If you don’t believe me, I can swear an oath to the Beast God."

Jiang Li’s tone was one of resignation, but he decisively began to swear the oath as he’d said he would. "I, Jiang Li, guarantee that what I just said is true: Chu Liangyu’s cubs maturing prematurely will have no adverse effects. If I am lying, may I be struck by lightning and suffer a terrible death."

The oath was sworn, and the pact was sealed. Both of them could feel a subtle, binding constraint.

"But, Beast Mother, you promised you would save my Beast Father..."

The little cub spoke hesitantly, afraid she might suddenly go back on her word.

Chu Liangyu spread her hands. "You see, I have to save someone first."

Jiang Li, however, seemed very agreeable and just smiled warmly.

"Then I’ll wait for you to take care of this matter."

Chu Liangyu looked at him with some surprise. "Aren’t you afraid I’ll break my promise?"

Jiang Li shook his head. "No. I trust you."

That doting tone and expression.

The corner of Chu Liangyu’s mouth twitched. Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were a couple in the throes of a passionate romance.

’Even though I don’t know what kind of scheme this guy is cooking up, if I’m watching him day in and day out, he probably can’t cause any major trouble.’

"Are we leaving now?"

Chi Yizhong, who hadn’t said a word since they entered, finally spoke, his tone even a bit hurried. He seemed desperate to leave this place.

And in fact, Chu Liangyu’s perception was correct.

For some unknown reason, the first time Chi Yizhong saw Jiang Li, he felt a sense of familiarity.

But accompanying it was a fear that seeped into his very soul. For as long as he could remember, he had never felt so panicked.

Escape. He desperately wanted to escape. The thought echoed relentlessly in his mind.

He had held himself back, knowing Chu Liangyu had matters to discuss. But now that everything was settled, he couldn’t wait to urge her to leave.

"Alright, let’s go now."

Seeing his state, Chu Liangyu didn’t comment and led him out of the private room in the Black Market.

After they turned to leave, Jiang Li’s gaze lingered on Chi Yizhong’s back for a long moment. He understood.

He casually tidied the teacups on the table, calling out, "Take care. The snow is heavy outside, so I won’t see you out."

Of course, no one paid him any mind, not that he cared.

As he went to pick up Chu Liangyu’s cup, Jiang Li suddenly froze.

His tone was a mixture of grievance and resignation. "It seems I really don’t have a shred of credibility in her eyes."

It turned out the tea in Chu Liangyu’s cup was completely untouched.

He just hadn’t expected her to be so wary of him. Even though he had drunk his tea first, she still didn’t trust him.

He sighed, a self-deprecating smile touching his lips. "I’m not a good person to begin with, so it’s not wrong of her to be on guard."

Chu Liangyu knew he would notice, but what of it? She was making her distrust clear.

Pretending to take a few sips was merely to save face for him in front of the others.

"Yu Chu, the heavy snow has covered most of the tracks. Do you remember which way your Beast Father went?"

Chu Liangyu had only just remembered to ask the little cub’s name.

Yu Chu. His name was remarkably similar to that of the little fox cub, Hu Qiuliang. Both of their names contained a part of Chu Liangyu’s name.

She had noticed it before but hadn’t given it much thought. But now, thinking about it...

’Those two are really something else...’

The tips of Chu Liangyu’s ears flushed red. A cold, snowy gust of wind blew past, and the burning heat quickly dissipated.

Her ears returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.

"I remember my Beast Father headed toward the Beast God Temple. He said you would be there, Beast Mother, and that you could help him."

As for why he didn’t return to the White Tiger Tribe, Chu Liangyu mulled it over for a moment and came to a conclusion.

He was being hunted by so many people; the White Tiger Tribe wouldn’t necessarily be willing to offend all those desperados for his sake.

But Chu Liangyu was different. Not only had she just helped them, but he was also her Beast Husband. Both reason and sentiment dictated she would help.

"That’s unfortunate. I just came from the tribe and didn’t see him on the way."

Yu Chu suddenly panicked, his voice choked with sobs. "My Beast Father isn’t... dead, is he? Buried by the snow?"

"I don’t know. Let’s start by looking."

Chu Liangyu pressed her lips together, gave his shoulder a gentle pat, and strode forward.

Because they were searching for someone, she didn’t fly through the air.

As for Chi Yizhong, considering his poor condition, Chu Liangyu didn’t have him follow along. She instructed him to return to the tribe and report the situation.

This time, Chi Yizhong didn’t argue and obediently headed back before them.

The heavy snow had been falling for more than seven days now. It had lessened for a time, leading everyone to believe it was stopping, but in the last few days, it had unexpectedly intensified.

The snow was so thick that stepping on it would bury you up to your waist. Chu Liangyu frowned; she had no choice but to use her wings after all.

She carried Yu Chu in one arm, carefully searching the area where they had last seen his father.

"Beast Mother, look! Is that someone in the tree?"

Curled up in the tree Yu Chu was pointing to was a small, frail figure. He was trembling uncontrollably, likely from the extreme cold.

His body was half-covered in snow, but he didn’t even move to brush it off.

"Yu Jin, is that you?"

The boy was so frozen that his reactions were sluggish. After a long moment, as if he had only just heard, he stiffly turned his head.

Chu Liangyu had never seen the other cub’s human form, so she turned to gauge Yu Chu’s reaction. "Is it him?"

Yu Chu nodded quickly. "It is! It’s him! Beast Mother, that’s Yu Jin!"

One look and it was clear the little guy was about to freeze to death, but Chu Liangyu had nothing on her to warm him up.

After a moment of silence, Chu Liangyu landed on the tree branch with Yu Chu.

With a gentle sweep of her sleeve, the snow on Yu Jin’s body vanished without a trace.

"Change back into your beast form and warm him up."

Chu Liangyu spread her huge black wings, shielding the two of them completely from the wind.

Almost instantly, Yu Jin’s body stopped shaking.

He hugged Yu Chu almost greedily, absorbing the heat from his body. As the warmth transferred, his frozen limbs slowly began to thaw.

Yu Chu shivered uncomfortably. "HISS... so cold! It’s like hugging a popsicle."

Chu Liangyu lowered her gaze, her feelings complicated as she watched the two little ones huddle together.

’At this rate, who knows how long it’ll take for him to recover.’ With a light tap of her finger, Chu Liangyu opened the Trading System.

"Do you have any elixirs that can make someone immune to the cold?"

Li Jingxuan, who had been meditating, snapped his eyes open. He looked at Chu Liangyu on the other side for a moment, then nodded. "I do. How many do you need?"

It wasn’t that Chu Liangyu was trying to fleece him and him alone; it was just that only items from the Cultivation World were practical enough to be worthy of her consideration.

"I’ll take as many as you have."

Li Jingxuan waved his hand, and five or six bottles and jars appeared before him.

"Red Sun Pills. Taking one will protect you from the cold for a month."

"I’ll take them all. How many Spirit Stones?"

Li Jingxuan’s expression was neutral. He replied, "These aren’t worth much. One thousand low grade spirit stones."

Chu Liangyu didn’t have any low-grade spirit stones on her; all she had were Top Grade Spiritual Stones.

Without bothering to ask for change, Chu Liangyu directly gave him one Top Grade Spiritual Stone.

In the next instant, the two items appeared in their respective new owner’s hands.
