The remaining tribes of the Heights were given two options.

Either join Kael, get food, a roof and security, in exchange for promising peace, or they could remain in their tribe, hunt for food themselves, worry about a roof and safety themselves and the only thing Kael would promise them would be that his Alliance won’t be the first to attack them.

And...

As much as these people hated Kael, they were only the elderly and the children, they still had roofs, that wasn’t the problem but safety was.

After all, it wasn’t just tribes that attacked each other in the Heights, Beasts of the Wild often attacked as well and every Tribe needed a way to protect themselves from them.

The elderly and the children couldn’t survive such attacks, so the only choice they had was to join Kael and that made them feel bitter. To join the same people who killed their kin, they found it hateful.

A few however, were also grateful, they realised that Kael could simply kill them or better, never come to them in the first place, leave them here alone for a month or two, letting them die on their own before taking their land and everything they held dear—

But he didn’t.

Instead, he stood in front of them, told them everything that happened and he offered them and their children a new home.

Of course, in the end, whether gratefully or with frustration, the tribes had no choice, they all joined Kael and returned with them.

This time, when the Alliance people saw them, they weren’t exactly surprised, they had already expected it. Of course, there were still tensions, some looked at the newly joined with cold looks on their faces, some even touched their weapons out of habit.

But no one attacked.

They all understood how important peace was to Kael.

The new tribes were placed under watch, but they were also given food and equal treatment, their old injuries that were too serious for them to function were treated too, of course, the priority was still given to the Alliance wounded, but these people weren’t left to die either.

That action gained some level of goodwill for Kael.

Kael used the same trick again, the old of the tribe were taught how to cook the Divine Rations, the children, obviously were free to live their lives as children, just like other tribes’ children.

Actually, playing around wasn’t the only thing he wanted children to do—

He had greater plans.

He didn’t want just survival.

That was easy.

Only a few basic things were needed for survival.

Food, shelter and order.

And with the power he had, all of it was easy, his Ants could take care of the food, they could also take care of the resources needed to create more shelters, and they could keep an eye on every single person here to keep order.

But Kael—

He wanted more.

He wanted this place to grow.

He wanted the children here to have a future that was not just war or hunger.

He wanted them to be different, so he...

He planned to open a school, a place where useful knowledge would be imparted.

That would start with language.

The Heights had too many different tribes, and each tribe had different languages, many people here could not speak to each other properly.

That had to change.

So Kael made it so every child, and every adult, would learn the Velmourn Language, the language that is used by all the main forces in the main Nerathis.

For this, Kael had a simple plan.

He created language notes with Imperia’s help, gave them all to the people with the highest intelligence stats and he told them to learn the Velmourn tongue.

These people would be the new translators.

These people would then teach their own respective tribes, and this wouldn’t just be taught to the children, it was mandatory for everyone.

After language came basic numbers.

Counting food, people, weapons, days, supplies—

The children needed to learn that.

Then, came the survival skills,

How to clean wounds, how to find safe water, how to build simple shelters, how to run when they had to run, and how to hide when they had to hide.

Then came combat.

The world was not kind, even in the Heights, the Wild Beasts could attack a settlement at any time, every child needed to know how to protect themselves. They would be taught how to hold a weapon, how to move, the proper stance, everything—

This would also help them choose the talented ones and later turn them into warriors or mages.

Yes, with Lavinia here, the schools would also be teaching magic, Lavinia already had experience in that department, so he would leave it to her.

After all, Kael knew how important magic was, how even the smallest spell could be useful in surprising ways.

After schools came shelter.

The people of the Heights, even the Velmourns, who had access to straight land where better shelters could be made, because of lack of resources, the place they lived in was... mediocre.

Kael planned to use resources to create shelters that were warm from inside, allowing the people to live a more comfortable life and limit the number of lives the winter took every single year.

And he was going to provide such shelter to every family, regardless of the tribe they were from.

Kael also wanted to focus on each tribe and their skills individually, every tribe had something they were good at. Some were physically stronger, some were faster, some were good at hunting, some could build—

There were many things each tribe could do.

Kael wanted to focus on that.

He wanted these people to work together, to get better results than they did when they lived separately.

That was the real meaning of the Alliance.

Then came roads.

This would be done after the shelters were made, these roads would connect everything better, making the Heights a proper city rather than free land where people just lived because there was space.

And while it all happened—

While the people worked together with each other to complete his goals one by one, lived peacefully, and saw their lives getting better every single day—

He wanted them to befriend each other.

Sure, he was forcing peace right now, but he wanted it to come naturally, for the people to open up to people from other tribes.

For the people to see people from other tribes as they worked, as they met, as they shared the same experience, every single day.

Then, and only then would the Ashen Heights be truly United.
