Dragon of Endless Evil

Chapter 70 - 999+49 km from each other…

She stood up, and it was at that moment that she looked at Daemon’s right arm. The bandages had completely melted, revealing the skin underneath. What she saw made her raise an eyebrow. His arm had a line of some sort of black scale. His nails were sharp black claws.

Daemon took out clean bandages and began to carefully wrap his arm. He did not raise his eyes, but he felt Victoria’s gaze weighing on him.

"I was wondering how your arm could have so much strength," she said with an enigmatic smile. "It looks like you have your secrets..."

Daemon continued to bandage his arm without stopping. "I ask you to keep that to yourself."

Victoria tilted her head, her smile widening. "Okay."

She poured some blood into a second vial, which she carefully put away in her pocket. Daemon watched her do it. "Why do that?"

She knelt again, applied Oswald’s blood on her wounded palm. The skin around the wound began to sizzle slightly, then to close little by little. The black veins faded even more, then disappeared completely. Victoria let out a sigh of relief.

"Well, it is not every day that you have the chance to collect the poison of the Venom Clan’s heir," replied Victoria as she stood up. "I may not cross paths with him again right away, but it will not be the last time. If the Alchemy Tower can make me an antidote with this, he will no longer be very dangerous in the future."

Daemon nodded: "I am impressed. You are clairvoyant."

Victoria returned his smile: "We make quite a nice duo, don’t you think?"

Daemon raised his eyebrows, then he started walking again. Victoria followed him.

"What duo?" retorted Daemon without turning around. "I did all the work."

Victoria accelerated to walk by his side. "What? If I had not given you the information on how to recover the antidote, how would you have known?"

Daemon shrugged one shoulder. "Antidote for whom? You should specify."

Victoria gave him a shoulder bump. "For the person who saved your life."

Daemon clicked his tongue, annoyed. "Saved is a big word. You should not put yourself in danger like that for me. I do not want to have your father on my back."

"I do not care about that," replied Victoria in a light tone. "I do not think too much when the person I love is in danger."

Daemon rolled his eyes. "You talk about love here and there in unrelated conversations. Do you know what I think? You just want to get me in trouble."

Victoria made an outraged expression, her hand on her chest. "In trouble? What do you know about love? Have you even felt it to know that mine is fake?"

Daemon hesitated. "Uh... Well, obviously... I loved my father and my mother... It is a bit complicated, but "

"I am not talking about that kind," cut Victoria. "Example with the witch you are in a relationship with."

Daemon frowned. He remembered the misunderstanding that had happened a few months earlier. By not wanting to talk about Blood Moon, he had let Victoria believe that he was in a relationship with a witch. He had never corrected her.

"Yeah, yeah... With her too it was complicated," he replied finally, thinking of Luna.

Victoria tilted her head. "Then explain."

Daemon sighed. "I felt good with her. But it seems she had ulterior motives and a goal in associating with me. Anyway, I think I am better off without her now."

Victoria remained silent for a moment. "Hmmm... I see. Maybe you loved her presence because you were alone."

Daemon lowered his eyes. "Maybe... In my childhood, I saw my father at most twice a month, and he did not even stay the whole day. My mother... is not very, let’s say, affectionate. And I was quite an agitated kid to get her attention. Anyway, now it no longer matters."

"You no longer feel loneliness?" asked Victoria softly.

Daemon shook his head. "No."

He made a circle with his right hand, then covered his left eye. He turned his head left and right, looking for something.

Victoria stopped, intrigued. "What are you doing?"

"Look behind you to your right," he said.

Victoria turned around. "Huh? What... Why are there butterflies inside the Catacombs?"

Daemon smiled while looking at them. "They keep me company and watch over me."

The butterflies danced in the flickering light of the torches. They were of two colors: one black as the night, the other golden like a sunset.

"Hmmm," murmured Daemon.

"It has been a long time since I saw a black butterfly and a golden butterfly together..."

...

Meanwhile, 999+49 km from each other...

Rising to the highest rank of the Sorcery Clan stood the representation of a woman with bandaged eyes and extremely long hair. The back of her hands bore the number 7, while her forehead was marked with the symbol of a nine-pointed star. She held a scale in her right hand and a spear in her left hand. It was said that she embodied Chosen One: El.

In the highest tower of the Sorcery Clan, a certain blind woman was sitting in lotus position at the top of a circular platform. The tower rose above the clouds, its white stone walls shining under the pale light of the moon.

The wind blew hard at this altitude, making her extremely long golden blond hair ripple and float around her. She wore a large white wool robe.

Luci’El had removed her blindfold, even though she kept her eyes closed. She did not need to open them. Her sight was completely dark, an absolute and endless black....

But she could see the Chi of living beings from afar, those flows of energy with changing colors that danced in her perception like aurora borealis. On the back of her hands shone a golden number 7, a birthmark.

She took a deep breath, then she exhaled slowly. Immediately, a six-pointed star symbol appeared on her forehead, with a cross in the center. The golden light intensified for a moment, then it faded, leaving a faint residual glow.

"I only see darkness," she murmured to herself. "I must become the star that will shine in the darkness."
