Chapter 116: The Hunter Desires Blood (15)

"Wen Li, why are you here?"

Chen Mingfei hurried over, looking at Wen Li with a strange expression.

"I'm here to visit an elder."

Wen Li explained with a smile.

Visiting an elder.

Chen Mingfei glanced behind Wen Li, then looked at Fu Qian standing to the side.

"And this is?"

"Fang Xun, my friend."

Seeing that Fu Qian had no intention of speaking, Wen Li took the initiative to introduce him, though she didn't elaborate further.

Chen Mingfei looked Fu Qian up and down, his expression turning somewhat hostile.

'Compared to Chen Mingda, this cousin of his is much more arrogant!'

Fu Qian noted inwardly, feeling the hostility in Chen Mingfei's stare.

"It's not very safe outside right now. You shouldn't stay out here for long."

After staring at Fu Qian for a moment, Chen Mingfei turned back to Wen Li.

"Yes, thanks for the warning. We were actually just about to head back. Are you leading a team to hunt down that rogue Night Watcher?"

'We? Don't tell me the two of you live together?'

Chen Mingfei frowned even deeper, but he still answered patiently.

"Yes. Another member of the Chen Clan was murdered yesterday. Second Uncle gave a strict order—everyone is out searching for that bastard's trail. We won't rest until we catch him."

"Then you should be careful too."

Wen Li offered a polite reminder.

"Don't worry. That guy is nothing more than a bloodthirsty beast right now, acting purely on instinct. He might have the cultivation realm, but that's it. He's nothing to fear."

'Now that was a flawlessly planted flag!'

Fu Qian had initially tuned out their conversation, but he marveled at the sheer irony of that statement.

'Maybe I should let Wen Li head home first, then quietly tail this bait?'

'After a declaration like that, the chances of him getting targeted just shot up by 80%.'

Chen Mingfei was clearly quite attentive toward Wen Li, displaying a rare level of patience.

Despite just telling her not to stay outside for too long, he lingered, chatting idly with her.

"It's dangerous out here right now. Why don't you move into the manor, Miss Wen? We can escort you home once the crisis is resolved."

'They really are a family. He has the exact same idea as Chen Mingda.'

"That won't be necessary."

Wen Li's reaction was identical; she smiled and shook her head.

"With Mister Fang here, my safety isn't an issue."

'Did she do that on purpose? She's clearly trying to draw his aggro onto me.'

Fu Qian shot Wen Li a glance, only to find her looking at him with a pleading expression.

'She wants me to help her shake him off?'

'I'll let it slide this time, but you'd better consult me beforehand next time so we can discuss my fee.'

By now, Chen Mingfei couldn't hold back anymore and glared in his direction.

"You look incredibly unfamiliar, Mister Fang. Did you just arrive in Shangjing?"

'These noble scions really love talking in circles.'

'Translated, that probably means—Who the hell are you, and why did you come begging in Shangjing?'

Fu Qian gave Chen Mingfei a passing glance and completely ignored him.

"Mister Fang... certainly has quite the personality."

Chen Mingfei gritted his teeth, caught between embarrassment and fury as murderous intent roiled in his heart.

But something felt slightly off.

Fu Qian paid him no mind at all. He first glanced up at the sky, then suddenly grabbed Wen Li and yanked her a step back.

The next moment, a streak of light plummeted from above.

Amidst a series of agonizing screams, a swath of Chen Clan members collapsed in an instant.

What was this...

Everyone stared at the figure that had just materialized in their midst.

Deformed limbs. Shredded clothing.

And on a face webbed with dark, bulging veins, a pair of scarlet, beast-like eyes.

Henrik?

Although his facial features were somewhat warped, he still bore a clear resemblance to the Henrik from the banquet.

'The fish took the bait.'

'Today's trip has been more than just fruitful; it's a massive haul.'

'But this fish seems a bit too big!'

Fu Qian sized up Henrik. He could clearly sense that compared to the banquet, the former Night Watcher's aura was now absurdly powerful.

If not for the chaotic and tyrannical nature of that aura, it would almost feel like facing someone in the Demigod Realm. That fierce killing intent was practically tangible.

'Does going berserk really bump you up a tier?'

"Henrik?"

Finally realizing what had happened, Wen Li quietly leaned in closer, holding her breath.

"Looks like it."

Right as Fu Qian spoke, Henrik's scarlet eyes snapped toward them.

Tyrannical. Deranged.

It actually felt like being stalked by a wild beast.

'The rumors were true. He's most likely lost his mind completely.'

At that moment, Henrik's figure vanished once more.

'So fast!'

'Is Wen Li the target?'

As the only person present who could track the man's movements, Fu Qian swiftly made a judgment.

Unfortunately, her breath caught in her throat. Her body was completely rigid, rooted to the spot.

Locked onto by Henrik's killing intent, a pure support like Wen Li lacked any ability to resist. She couldn't even manage a dodge.

Given the circumstances, Fu Qian didn't hesitate. He kicked out.

In the end, Wen Li couldn't escape the fate of being booted into the air.

But that very kick saved her life.

A streak of light flashed as Henrik materialized right where Wen Li had been standing, a deep trench gouged into the earth at his feet.

And that was just a casual claw strike.

Fu Qian stared at the terrifying scar left in the ground.

He had to admit that while he previously thought Yuan Shan's methods were miraculous, pure physical combat was still infinitely more satisfying to watch.

Missing his mark, Henrik barely paused before locking his gaze onto Fu Qian.

The next instant, an Odd-Shaped Long Blade tore through Fu Qian's silhouette.

However, it was nothing more than a silhouette.

Fu Qian sidestepped, easily dodging the blow.

Flashes of the blade rained down in a blinding flurry, accompanied by furious roars.

Seeming to realize that Fu Qian was the only genuine threat, Henrik unleashed a torrential onslaught of attacks.

'What a grudge!'

Fu Qian marveled as he evaded the strikes.

Thanks to his special training on the Ring Archipelago, his body was nimble and free. He wove through the storm of blades and claws as effortlessly as if he were taking a leisurely stroll.

Given his previous display at the Night Watchers Base, he wasn't prepared to expose certain abilities here.

'Let's try out some other skills this time.'

Amidst the relentless close-quarters brawl, Fu Qian finally found an opening and pointed his finger rapidly.

Five Air Bullets shrieked through the air.

As expected, a frenzied Henrik neither dodged nor deflected the attack. Instead, he chose to take the hit head-on, trading injury for injury.

A rapid staccato of impacts echoed as all five bullets found their mark. They didn't cause massive damage, but the sheer kinetic force behind them was enough to make Henrik's movements stutter.

Seizing that brief window, Fu Qian vanished and reappeared right behind him.

Henrik's back was still a mess of mangled flesh and blood.

The wound left by the Chen Family Old Man's strike was still clearly visible.

'This is just too perfect.'

Fu Qian didn't hesitate to thrust his hand directly into it.

Without activating Mythical Form, he directly executed Visceral Attack.

A second later, Henrik unleashed an earth-shattering shriek, his entire body lurching violently forward.

As his internal organs erupted outward, his spine practically shattered into pieces.

Yet, Henrik displayed an absurdly tenacious vitality, somehow still refusing to fall.

Instead, he threw his head back and let out an incredibly harrowing howl.

And right by his feet, a trembling Chen Mingfei was desperately scrambling backward.
