Chapter 243: Pure Land Arc (5)

Stepping out of the ward, Fu Qian moved swiftly through the hallways, following the distance and direction he had just gauged.

The location of the void that had appeared in his perception wasn't far from here.

To be precise, it was on the upper floor of this very building.

However, as he made his way up and approached his destination, Fu Qian found his path blocked.

A burly man dressed like a security guard stood watch at the top of the stairs. The moment he spotted Fu Qian, he cast him a vigilant look.

'Looks like a luxury ward?'

Fu Qian silently made his judgment. He was currently on the second floor of the hospital's top level, so such an arrangement wasn't surprising.

Anyone staying in a place like this was undoubtedly out of the ordinary.

"Sorry, unescorted visitors are not allowed in."

"Alright."

Fu Qian replied casually, but his footsteps didn't slow in the slightest.

Seeing this, the guard frowned and instinctively stepped forward to stop him.

The next moment, however, he blanked out. He stood frozen in place, letting Fu Qian brush right past him.

A few seconds later, the burly man looked around in confusion before sitting back down, completely bewildered.

In that brief instant, Fu Qian had swiftly activated the Commandment Residue.

Now that he was in a Demigod state, the effects of the Commandment Residue had been enhanced.

On an ordinary person who was merely a bit stronger than average, like this security guard, the effect was practically instantaneous.

Entering the luxury ward area, Fu Qian didn't break his stride and easily found the location of the void he had locked onto.

After confirming it was a rather large hospital room, he didn't rush in, but first went to the adjacent doctor's duty room.

A young doctor was sitting with his back to the door, leisurely sipping coffee and reading a newspaper.

Slipping up behind him, Fu Qian gave him a light tap, and the doctor slumped softly onto the desk.

He grabbed a white coat from nearby and slipped it on, his facial features rapidly shifting.

In just a few seconds, he had transformed into the spitting image of the young doctor.

"Guzman."

With his disguise complete, Fu Qian glanced at the name on the inpatient medical records, turned around, and stepped out of the room.

Returning to the luxury ward, Fu Qian knocked on the door before pushing it open and stepping inside.

There was only one person inside the massive ward.

An elderly man in a hospital gown was lying in bed. Hearing the noise, he looked over in mild surprise.

"Doctor Drey, why are you back?"

"Out of caution, there are a few more detailed checks I need to run."

'Looks like that doctor was just here.'

Facing the patient named Guzman, Fu Qian answered with perfect composure.

"Oh."

Guzman nodded and offered a gentlemanly smile.

"Thank you. I know you're trying to fulfill your entrusted duties, but there's no need to be tense. I am quite certain I have recovered well. The Dean's medical skills are trustworthy."

"In fact, I just spoke with him, and I can be discharged today."

"Yes, you are indeed recovering quite well."

Fu Qian looked at the old man before him and agreed.

For a man his age, Guzman's physical condition was genuinely impressive; his current state was absolutely fit for discharge.

"I recall you mentioning something earlier."

Guzman seemed to appreciate Fu Qian's earnest attitude and took the initiative to speak.

"You only arrived in Baerluk a year ago. Have you gotten used to living here?"

"It's wonderful. This place is quite beautiful and very interesting."

Fu Qian honestly described his feelings.

"Indeed. Baerluk is a truly unique Small Town. Trust me, the longer you live here, the more you will love it."

Smiling with a touch of emotion, Guzman picked up a card from his bedside and handed it over.

"You are a very responsible doctor. Thank you for taking care of me during this time. Whenever you have the time, you can come find this old man for a chat."

"Baerluk welcomes young people like you."

"Thank you."

Fu Qian reached out and took it, finding it to be a business card. The title read: Sir Guzman.

'A figure of prestige and influence, as expected!'

'Moreover, judging from his words, it seemed the Dean had personally performed the surgery, and the doctor he was impersonating was merely sent over for nursing care.'

"Alright, I will definitely come visit when I have the time."

Fu Qian tucked the business card away and replied with a beaming smile.

This Sir Guzman clearly held considerable prestige locally.

Unfortunately, after this brief interaction, it was apparent that he was just an ordinary person.

Nor were there any special Items found on him.

This was quite unexpected, but the anomaly from earlier definitely wasn't a mistake.

After a moment of thought, Fu Qian released another trace of his Demigod spiritual aura.

Almost instantly, Sir Guzman's body gave an involuntary shudder, and his facial expression stiffened.

There were indeed no issues.

Considering the other party's age, Fu Qian retracted his aura the moment he released it, quickly arriving at his conclusion.

The old man drew in a deep breath, looking around the room in a state of bewildered alarm.

"All your indicators are excellent. I won't disturb your rest any further."

Naturally, Fu Qian wouldn't let him catch on to anything amiss. Smiling, he bade him farewell and left.

Under the impact just now, Guzman hadn't shown a single abnormality.

Even within the area covered by his aura, that strange void did not reappear.

It was as if the sensation earlier had been nothing but an illusion.

'To think such a thing could happen!'

Fu Qian looked at the business card in his hand. He returned the white coat to the duty room, then left the ward.

...

When he returned to Lotte's room, Fu Qian found Veil standing outside.

"Mr. Fu Qian, you're back."

The moment Veil saw Fu Qian, she seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and took the initiative to greet him.

She had definitely felt that aura from earlier, but she tactfully refrained from asking where he had gone.

"Yeah."

Fu Qian nodded. Hearing that Veil had deliberately raised her voice a notch, he knew she wanted Lotte to hear.

The reason she had stayed outside instead of leaving was probably out of fear that his sudden return would frighten her younger sister.

Fu Qian shook his head.

"Finished chatting?"

"Yeah."

Veil forced a strained smile.

"Lotte is a little tired and wants to rest. Do you want to go in and say goodbye?"

'Phrasing it like that—she obviously just doesn't want me going back inside.'

"No need. Let her rest."

Truth be told, Fu Qian genuinely had no interest in making another trip inside.

...

"I've already spoken with Lotte. She promised me she won't report us, so there's no need to worry."

After they left the inpatient area, Veil leaned in and whispered.

"Alright."

Fu Qian gave a casual reply, playing with the newly acquired business card in his hand.

"Sir Guzman?"

Without a doubt, Veil had noticed the name on the card, her tone laced with clear surprise.

"What's wrong? Is he famous?"

Fu Qian looked at her and asked.

"Sir Guzman is a highly esteemed gentleman. He is deeply respected by everyone."

Veil explained in a serious tone.

"Is he ill? It's a pity it's not very convenient for me right now, otherwise I'd go pay him a visit."

"No need to worry. I can confirm he's recovering quite well."

Fu Qian said nonchalantly.

"That's good."

Veil nodded, yet she never dared to ask how exactly Fu Qian had gotten that card.
