Olivia stared at Thalia’s disturbing burns and felt her heart twist with grief.

"W-Why aren’t you healing Thalia?"

He had seen her regenerate a hole through the chest, why was it that her burns still hadn’t healed?

Worse of all... what had they fed her?

"Don’t bother, she won’t be healing anytime soon." A voice came from behind her.

Olivia immediately spun around and eyed the people that had now surrounded her. It was only now that she was getting a proper look at them.

’The association? What are they doing here?’ Three bronze ranks and an iron rank...

Her wings fanned out to shield Thalia as she stared at them, her eyes sharper than the edge of a blade.

’Did they somehow find out what happened by interrogating Ark?’ No, Olivia shook her head.

Ark would never let anything about what happened slip. Even if he had been tortured, there was no way they would have gotten it out of him.

But that didn’t matter now. What mattered was that the association was after Thalia.

"Are you really going to stand in our way?" North asked calmly as he watched her. "You do know that interfering in association business is a crime right?"

"If you are really here on official business, you wouldn’t have blown up my apartment. You wouldn’t have fed her whatever shit you shoved down her throat!" Olivia growled.

"You’re only doing this because you don’t have the legal grounds to be here!"

Lighting sparkled in her eyes. As erratic as Eden’s weather was, a storm had begun outside, blowing cold air and rain into the space.

"Get out!" Lightning flashed outside the apartment, bathing the room in blue light.

North clicked his tongue. "I’m afraid I cannot... and if you don’t get out of my way, you will be removed."

Olivia summoned her weapon, the golden axe gleaming softly. "I would like to see you try."

North’s jaw tightened, a vein pulsing at its base as he stared at her. A mere copper player dared to bare her fangs against an iron rank?

He raised his hands, causing the association members to be on alert. And then he brought it down initiating the fight.

[INTRUDERS DETECTED!!]

A red screen appeared in front of Olivia’s face.

[Abilities of uninvited guests will be subjected to a 30% debuff]

’It’s still working!’

She thought as she read through it. Because of how damaged her apartment had been, Olivia thought the security system would be down as well, but luckily that wasn’t the case.

[Room enchantment active! Mana and Health will continually be increased over time. Fatigue will also be depleted over time]

[Resistance against mind attacks has been increased]

[Resistance against sound attacks has been increased]

[Spell power of invited guests is now increased by 1.5x]

But even with the buffs and debuffs, would she still be able to beat four players?

Her hands tightened around the shaft of her axe as she took in a deep breath.

It didn’t matter if she could win or not, all that mattered was that she would protect Thalia, she would give everything to push them back, up until there was nothing left to give.

One of the agents came charging from her side, her short sword carving through the air in a horizontal slash.

Olivia met the sword with her axe, sparks erupting on contact.

She shifted her foot and adjusted her position to account for the greater strength of her opponent, before redirecting the strike.

But just as she was about to swing again, something flashed in her vision. Another sword was coming from her blind spot.

Olivia immediately leaned back until her wings touched the floor—

Swish!

A great sword carved through the spot her head had been, whistling in the air.

Using her wings as support, with her body still at a horizontal angle, Olivia drove her foot into the man’s side, sending him staggering back.

And then her wing sprang her into the air, flying right toward another player, her axe coming down with terrible force.

Bang!

The player gritted his teeth as his knees nearly buckled.

But he was a bronze rank player. Olivia may have been strong, but he was stronger.

He shoved her back, and just as she stumbled back a few steps, swords sliced through her two sides, causing blood to rush down her injuries.

Two players had appeared at her sides, their swords coming at her once more.

Olivia raised her axe to block, but two weapons crashed into it, just before a foot to the gut sent her flying back, her feet screeching on the floor.

They gave her no time to rest.

Just as she came to a halt, another blade came down upon her head.

It was a simple vertical strike. Olivia had raised her axe, holding the shaft with both hands to block—

But as she received the blow, a shudder was sent racing down her limbs and spine. She fell down to a knee, her hands trembled and she gritted her teeth and stared up at the man.

North smiled wide, his mask long discarded.

The bronze ranks were already physically more capable than her, but North was on another level entirely.

Just holding back his blade was taking everything in her.

And yet, he was not alone.

Slash!

Olivia dashed back as quickly as she could, defending against attacks from all sides.

She was ducking and dodging, while swinging her axe with whatever little opportunity she could get.

But it was all a futile attempt.

Whenever she tried to use a spell, there would be an agent in front of her. Whenever she tried to fly, a dagger was sent through her wings, staining her white feathers with blood.

It was four against one, four agents that ranked higher than her. Right from the beginning, it had been a losing battle.

Sword strikes carved through the air, slicing through her arms, legs and sides, just before North drove his elbow right into her abdomen.

Olivia saw colours, her dinner threatening to spill out of her mouth.

Bang!

She was rocked to the side by a blow, but as she stumbled in the other direction, another blow would send her back into the cycle.

After some time, Olivia fell to her knees right in front of Thalia, raising her hands to shield her. There was a fierce look in her eyes as she stared at North, her mind racing.

’Should I use lightning burst?’

It was the only skill that could get her out of this. But if she used the skill, then she would risk injuring, or possibly killing Thalia as well...

’Damn it.’ She cursed.

"Do you know the problem with you nobles?"

North spat as he walked towards her.

"You are too full of yourselves." He raised his sword at her and used its tip to tilt her head upwards.

Blood was drifting down her lips and nose.

"You are too arrogant. You think that because of the status of your family you are above the rules." It was clear that North had animosity towards the top guilds, but Olivia had no idea why.

"If you know my family, then you should know what is waiting for you if you cross me." Olivia smiled. "One by one, you will all lose your limbs, your eyes, your teeth, and then your will to live..."

It was a bluff.

Even if she were to be killed, Olivia doubted her family would so much as bat an eye.

Well maybe they would, but it would be more for the sake of their honour than any sort of parental care.

North suddenly burst out into laughter. "We both know that won’t happen, princess."

Olivia smiled bitterly. "Well, it was worth a shot."

North swung his blade at her neck, when a shadow suddenly erupted from the ground at her feet, accompanied by a wild, battle roar.

"UWAHHHHHHHH!"

A large black shield tore through the floor, as well as a large undead knight, armoured to the teeth!

"Mountain?" Olivia’s heart was suddenly filled with relief.

North’s eyes widened in shock as he stared at the undead.

’A summon?!’ He thought, his face darkening. ’That means....’

He turned around, only to see a pair of fiery blue eyes approaching.

Ark’s eyes moved from the charred room, to the remains of his favourite couch, before they settled on Olivia and Thalia.

His eyes locked on North.

"It seems you have taken the liberty of redecorating the place..."

The man was an iron rank, two whole ranks above his own. Ark should have been more cautious, more calculating about his approach.

He should have stabbed him in the back, killed him with the tricks he was so good at.

But Ark would not be satisfied.

If he did not let out the rage in his heart right now, if he did not tear down the agents in front of him without remorse.

Then the rage would consume him whole.

"You must be Ark. Bold of you to come here on your own two feet! You are not the son of some first generation, when it comes to you, I can destroy you in whatever way I see fit—"

Ark suddenly vanished. North’s eyes searched the room, trying to locate him, only for him to appear right by his side.

North stilled.

The shadows in the room stirred. And then three more summons rose in front of Olivia.

Ark glanced at him, no ounce of humour in his icy voice. With rage so turbulent that it threatened to bring down the very heavens, he said;

"I will... I will kill your soul for this."
