North immediately jumped to the side, driven by pure instinct, a drop of sweat sliding down his face as he stared at Ark.

Ark did not chase after him, he simply walked towards Thalia.

Badump—Badump—!

North grasped his chest, feeling his heart pound against his ribs, the sound of the beating so loud that it rang in his ears.

’What is the meaning of this?’

His eyes drifted down to Ark’s dog tag as though to confirm what he already knew.

’Did... did I just run away from a measly copper rank?’

He had not thought, his mind had been blank, leaving his body to flee.

"Tsk!!"

He clicked his tongue as he glanced at the other agents that had formed up on him. They all seemed just as uneasy as he was.

Just who was that guy? Why was he able to bring out such a reaction from players several levels above them?

’This guy... I can’t let him live...’

The vice commander had more than wronged him. If he was to aim that rage at the association, then there may come a day where he brings it down to its knees.

Ark walked to Thalia and got to his knees in front of her. There was something bulging out of her chest, slithering around as though it was its home.

"I think they fed her something!" Olivia said in panic. I don’t know why, but it’s alive inside her!"

"They are trying to ensure her death."

"What?" Olivia’s face grew pale. But Ark did not say more.

Tristan had been clear with his intentions. The association must have found a way to kill players while in a safe zone, and Ark was sure it had something to do with what was inside her.

"A-Ark~?"

Thalia opened her blood-shot eyes. The moment she saw him, a smile blossomed on her face.

"You’re... you’re alright."

She said breathlessly, groaning at the end of each sentence.

"...thank... thank goodness."

She muttered before she went unconscious.

Ark stared at the beast moving around her body and suddenly grabbed onto the layer of skin, keeping it in place.

He summoned the hero’s blade in the form of a dagger, and with pain in his eyes, carved it out of her body.

The animal had grown fat with her blood, and was pulsing with an eerie orange glow. Ark wrapped it up in a piece of tattered cloth and kept it in his inventory.

And then he got to his feet.

"Whatever they used to stall her healing should wear off soon. Use potions to enhance her healing."

Olivia nodded and summoned her potions.

"And do you think we are just going to sit back and let you do as you please, you bastard?!!"

North growled, his sword vibrating with rage.

Ark glanced at him from over his shoulder, before he turned around to face them.

Step—

He took a step forward, and the agents around North took one step back.

"You fools! Stand your ground! He is just a copper rank skeleton!"

’System... I need you to combine two skills for me.’

When was the last time he had used spellforge?

Ark was sure it was not too long ago, but his mind was too cloudy to remember.

’Merge King’s Dominion and Armament...’

[Player, do you wish to merge (King’s Dominion) and (Armament)?]

"Yes."

[Skill merger successful! New skill, Emperor’s Domination (S-Rank), is now available]

— Emperor’s Domination

The authority of an emperor knows no bounds.

Summons a wave of prettifying aura around the user, amplifying his abilities and causing intimidation upon all those who dare rise in rebellion.

Allies exposed to the Emperor’s Aura will possess ’Aura’, a destructive force that can be summoned at will. Their physical stats, mental stats and defence stats will be greatly increased.

Foes exposed to this aura for too long will see reduced stats, as well as a fear that threatens to corrode their minds, as they are haunted by the phantoms left behind from your domination.

Ark’s eyes grew brighter, and then his summons walked up to him.

He raised the dagger in his hand and willed it to change form. The weapon twisted, the blade elongating and the hilt transforming in shape.

Now resting in his hand was a sleek katana with a red hilt and black blade.

Ark pointed the sword at the agents and said,

— Emperor’s Domination

Dark shadows suddenly burst out of the floor, spreading out around him until it swallowed the entire room.

Gold lines swirled within the pitch black river, drifting without form or direction, and horrid shapes twisted within the mess.

The moment Emperor’s Domination was active, the players suddenly felt a heavy weight press down on their minds.

Their limbs felt weaker, and it was as though there was an instinctual feeling to flee.

But worse of all—

"Don’t look down!" North screamed at the top of his throat, before swallowing.

He had stared at it just for a moment...

What the hell was that?!

Cold sweat drifted down his back.

He could see a large monster as tall as a tower, a worm-like beast with rows of unending teeth.

He could see a phantomless king with a crooked crown resting on his head, a defiled golem that had torn through civilization with a pillar of fire.

He could see death, and death was coming for him.

Exposed to the aura, Ark’s summons also experienced a change. Their normally blue eyes had turned into a fiery gold, the bright patterns of their bodies giving off the same light.

And their swords were now coated with a black swirling matter, the destructive energy that Thalia had once used against him.

Ark stared at the commander and said in a humourless tone.

"What is the matter commander? Afraid?"

"..."

North’s eyes flashed with rage.

He was one of the best in his class. Like hell he would be outdone by a skeleton!

"You would need a hundred of you to scare me!"

Ark stared at him coldly.

"Very well."

And then he issued a command to his summons.

"Slaughter them all."
