"Gravity?" Ark was pleasantly surprised by Euro’s revelation.

Elements such as fire, water, earth and wind were the most common elements for mages and battle mages.

Although most players stuck to mastering two, it was not uncommon to find a player that was adept in more.

But there were rarer elements, elements that were difficult to find, not just among players, but among natives and even monsters.

Gravity was one of these elements... the ability to manipulate the world’s force fields at will.

To the untrained eye, it was easy to assume that he was using wind, because gravity manipulation does not have clear visual signs.

But now that Ark was looking closely... he could see it.

A basilisk suddenly charged towards Inquisitor, hissing as it opened its fetid maw to bite off his leg...

Inquisitor drew his sword back and slashed forward with effortless grace. The blade carved a path through the wind, and then suddenly, an invisible force slammed right into the creature, splitting it in half, right from its maw, down to its tail.

"Damn..." Olivia winced as she watched the strips of meat fall onto the floor. "I knew Inquisitor was strong, but that is a Basilisk..." she muttered thoughtfully.

Of course, these low-level Basilisks were not a problem for their party, but there were many players who would struggle, or even die in a fight with them.

"He’s my right-hand man, of course he will be strong." Ark chuckled. "But Inquisitor is not the only strong one, you know?"

Despite killing several at a distance and one at close range, the basilisk horde had not thinned down in the slightest, and now they were approaching their formation.

But to break through, to get to the mage at the center of their group, the basilisks would have to get past the Heretical King.

Sumo stepped forward, his axe gleaming crimson in the burning world that surrounded him.

’I wonder what his element will be...’ Ark mused. Fire? Earth? Lightning? Considering his temperament, those would have been the obvious choices.

But like Euros said, the element was not determined by a summon’s personality. It was randomly assigned, and he could not have been more wrong with his guesses.

Sumo gave the basilisks a condescending stare, and he could almost hear him calling them "filthy worms" in the tone he had insulted Ark with back in the tutorial.

Sumo did not wait for the basilisks to get to him, instead he disappeared, and appeared right in front of the horde—

Swish!

His wicked axe cleaved off the head of the basilisk leading the charge, disorienting them. Before they could even react, limbs were sent flying, followed by heads, torsos and organs.

Soon, the floor below him was completely covered in blood.

But the basilisks, as idiotic as they were, were prime hunters in their own right. They had gone against tougher opponents in the past, they knew just how to bring him to his knees.

They rushed at him from all sides, his immediate environment transforming into a net of teeth. But just as the first monster was about to lock its maw around his thigh—

His axe glowed blue.

VWOOOSH!!

Water suddenly gushed out of the blade, pushing the monster’s back, and then the water spiraled, curling around to launch him into the air.

Sumo kissed the clouds...

His axe caught the little rays of light that slipped through the ashen sky, the weapon glowing blue.

And when he swung down, the slash came with a flood of water that was painted red on impact.

Boom!

This time, Ark could not hold back his laughter. "Water? Of all things that brute could have awakened!"

Water was often seen as a tranquil, gentle element. It was a stark contrast to Sumo who was more like a barbarian than anything else.

’Interesting...’ Ark could not wait to see how it would play out in the future.

"Your summons are really talented... but that one, he looks oddly familiar..." Euros stroked his chin as he watched the battle.

Ark gave him a deadpan stare. "What are you still doing here?"

He cleared his throat, a drop of sweat sliding down his face as he pretended to have never heard the question.

"It looks like we won’t have to do much today..." Thalia smiled. "I wonder how strong they will be in the future..." she said thoughtfully.

"In the future? I wonder how strong they are now! Ark, can I fight them after this?" Olivia asked excitedly.

"No. Get your own summons." If anyone was fighting them, it would be him.

"Awww.. come on! Don’t be stingy!"

Despite having wiped out nearly a dozen monsters from that strike alone, there were more monsters waiting to join the fun.

And a certain summon seemed to have grown tired of waiting for their turn...

A hulking basilisk, far larger than the rest, let out a loud, ear-piercing screech, causing all the smaller basilisks to shrink back in fear, clearing the way for it.

The monster basically waddled forward, its weight clearly too much for it to handle.

While the other basilisks were already large, this basilisk was as big as an elephant...

Euros blinked as he stared at it, his hands folded across his chest. "That is a big boy."

Its crimson, reptilian eyes narrowed with rage as it locked on Sumo, and the king had to raise his head just to meet its gaze.

A forked tongue slipped out of its mouth and curled in the air as it hissed right in front of him, spewing saliva on his face.

Sumo was not moved. To him, the basilisk was just another worm too impatient to wait its turn.

No matter...

It too would soon join the circle of life and produce nourishment to the planet.

The monster lunged, and Sumo swung, but neither of them made contact, because a figure as big as a bear stepped right in between them.

Bang!

Mountain slammed his shield into the face of the monster, sending a few teeth clattering over the ground.

SCREEE—!

The basilisk shook its head to clear off the haze, just before trying to bite off Mountain’s head.

But what met him was the cruel end of a dozen blades, each one impaling it at different parts of its head. The large monster fell down flat on its face.

It died before it even hit the floor...

"Was that...." Olivia stared at the monster, wide-eyed as the twelve swords flew out of its head, combining together to form Mountain’s hulking shield.

"Metal manipulation..." Ark completed her sentence for her, and Euros nodded, confirming it.

Ark felt like sitting down... just in one day, the battle capabilities of his summons had multiplied several-fold.

He already knew the history of the Heretical Goblin King, but now Ark had grown curious. He watched as his summons massacred the monsters, and wondered.

Just who had he summoned? And if the elements were assigned at random, how were they already so good at using it?

Seeing their most fearsome member humbled in merely two moves, although the Basilisks seemed eager to fight, they slowly began to back away, just before sprinting back in the other direction, while his summons watched them go.

Ark was beginning to wonder why they did not chase after them, that was until Jenna stepped forward and raised her crooked staff.

"Oh..."

Now he knew why...

She had finished her spell.
