"C-Caelus Kross..." Mark’s voice came out as a broken whisper.
"Please!"
Without hesitation, he pressed his forehead against the ground.
"Please don’t kill me! We’re from the same hometown! We both came from the same world! Doesn’t that mean anything to you?!"
He still had too many things he wanted to accomplish. Too many ambitions and dreams.
But if he died here, none of them would ever happen.
Caelus stared down at him with cold eyes.
"The same hometown?" Caelus repeated slowly. "That’s your argument?"
Mark immediately looked up, desperate hope filling his eyes.
However, Caelus continued before he could say anything else.
"You caused a lot of suffering. You helped the demons slaughter innocent people. You stood by while cities burned."
His gaze remained completely cold.
"And now you want mercy because we’re from the same place?"
"I-I was just following orders! I didn’t have a choice!"
Caelus’s expression didn’t change.
"Everyone has a choice."
Just then, the shadow behind him moved.
A single blade of darkness formed in the air directly above Mark’s head.
"W-Wait! Please! I’ll do anything! I’ll serve you! I’ll tell you everything I know!"
Before Mark could continue begging, the blade fell.
Mark Twilight’s body slumped to the ground, completely motionless.
Caelus stood over the corpse for a brief moment before calmly turning away.
His gaze soon landed on Lena, who was several kilometers away, still kneeling on top of a ruined building.
Tears continued streaming down her face as she stared at him with an expression he couldn’t quite understand.
After a brief silence, Caelus finally raised an eyebrow.
"Now, what’s your deal?"
Lena kept crying.
She didn’t understand why the tears wouldn’t stop. She had wanted to do terrible things to Caelus. She had planned to make him her dog again, to control him like she did back in school.
But the moment she saw him, all those thoughts vanished.
Instead, relief flooded through her entire body.
Mark was dead. The man who had tortured her for months, who had made her do unspeakable things, who had treated her like garbage whenever Malazakar wasn’t looking. He was finally gone.
And Caelus was here.
He had saved her without even knowing it.
She looked up at him with tear-stained eyes, her voice cracking as she spoke.
"C-Caelus... Please take me with you."
WHOOSH!
A crimson blur shot across the sky.
Before Lena could react, a foot connected with her face and sent her flying backward. She crashed through a pile of rubble and tumbled across the broken street.
Sylvia landed gracefully where Lena had been kneeling, her silver hair flowing in the wind. Her crimson eyes were cold as ice.
"Sylvia." Caelus stared at his girlfriend with a speechless expression.
Sylvia turned to him with a sweet smile that didn’t match her earlier violence at all.
"Hubby, you should go meet with the others. I need to talk to Lena for a bit." She tilted her head slightly. "I also dealt with the demons in the other half of the world. There’s none left now."
Caelus looked at Lena’s crumpled form, then back at Sylvia.
He knew better than to argue.
"Alright."
His figure flickered and disappeared into the sky, leaving the two women alone.
Sylvia turned her attention back to Lena, who was struggling to push herself up from the rubble. Blood dripped from her split lip.
"You know why I did that, I’m sure."
Lena’s eyes flashed with madness as she glared at Sylvia.
"Y-You! Why did you kick me?!"
She slammed her fist against the ground.
"What did I do?! What did I do to deserve this?! Why is everyone treating me like this?!"
Sylvia stared at her without a shred of sympathy.
"Maybe you should remember clearly about your past. Remember how you treated others back then."
She took a step forward.
"This is karma."
Lena flinched at the word.
Her body began trembling as memories she had buried deep inside suddenly resurfaced. The way she had bullied Caelus. The way she had made him fetch things for her like a servant. The way she had laughed at his misery with her friends and the way she had tried to kill him on multiple occasion.
She had been cruel.
And now cruelty had found its way back to her.
Sylvia’s gaze moved across Lena’s body, taking in the bruises that covered her arms and legs. The marks on her neck. The scars that peeked out from beneath her torn clothes.
She let out a small sigh.
"You are to never meet Caelus again."
"You’ve gone mad," Sylvia continued. "Whatever they did to you broke something inside your head."
Lena’s crying grew louder.
Even Sylvia could understand some things just from looking at the state Lena was in. The torture had been severe. The abuse had been constant. Whatever remained of the arrogant girl from Fortis City had been shattered into pieces.
But that didn’t erase what she had done before.
"I won’t kill you," Sylvia said. "But you will stay on Earth."
Her voice turned cold.
"You will never reach the Tier 2 World."
She waved her hand.
Crimson energy wrapped around Lena’s body, and her eyes rolled back as she fell unconscious.
Sylvia stared at her for a long moment.
This woman had done bad things to Caelus. She had hurt him, humiliated him, treated him like dirt beneath her feet.
But she had also gotten what she deserved.
Sylvia pulled out her phone and contacted Caelus.
"Hubby, can you come back for a moment? I need you to seal her powers using Origin Sever."
Caelus didn’t ask any questions.
He appeared beside her seconds later and looked down at Lena’s unconscious form. Without hesitation, he activated his skill.
[Skill Activated: Origin Sever]
A thin blade of light sliced through the air and struck Lena’s body. Her connection to mana, to aura, to everything that made her a player was permanently severed.
She would never be able to use powers again.
Caelus glanced at Sylvia but said nothing. He trusted her judgment completely.
His figure flickered and disappeared once more.
Sylvia picked up Lena’s body and entered Genesis Kingdom inside the Origin Expanse with Lena after using a transfer token. She had plenty. She obtained them from the Path to Worlds.
The gentle mist of the garden immediately began working on Lena’s mind, erasing the trauma that had accumulated over months of abuse. The psychological damage slowly healed, piece by piece.
She also asked Freya to heal her bruises.
When the process was complete, Sylvia carried her back to Earth.
She found a therapy center in a quiet town far from any major city. The staff there specialized in helping people recover from severe trauma.
Sylvia left Lena at the entrance with a note explaining her condition.
Before she left, Lena opened her eyes. It was far more clearer than before.
"Thank you." Those words that came out from her was genuine.
Sylvia said nothing. But, before she left. She made sure to ask her about how they came here from the Abyss.
Then she stepped back and stared at the building for a while.
Lena would live. She would heal. She would have a chance at a normal life.
But she would never meet Caelus or others again.
Sylvia turned away and vanished into the night.
