Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World

Chapter 399: S-Rank Talent King’s Gamble

Caelus returned to the Genesis Kingdom with urgency in his steps.

After arriving, he immediately gathered everyone in the main hall and informed them of the situation.

"I’ve officially conquered an Origin Energy Node," he announced. "The territory is safe for you to enter. I’ve already established a series of traps around the area that will allow you to hunt and level up efficiently."

Hearing this, the players listened intently as Caelus continued explaining his plans.

"I’m dividing you into two groups. The first team will focus entirely on killing the beasts caught by the traps, while the second team will gather their corpses and process them for combat score."

Hearing Caelus’s instructions, Mason stepped forward and nodded.

"Understood. I’ll coordinate everything."

Caelus nodded in response.

He also assigned Elder Sterling to the task.

With the arrangements settled, Caelus realized that conquering the two nodes had been surprisingly easy. However, defending them was the real problem.

After all, the moment a node was claimed, other factions would eventually come looking for it. Competition within the Origin Expanse was relentless, so Caelus knew they couldn’t afford to leave the nodes undefended.

Because of this, he assigned players to defend both the first and second nodes before heading toward the second one himself.

WHOOSH!

Caelus shot through the sky at maximum speed.

As soon as he arrived, he found Gorn, Lucian, Valerica, and Seraphin Lin already fighting a group of newcomers who were clearly attempting to seize the node.

CLANG! BOOM! CRASH!

Weapons clashed and abilities collided across the battlefield.

"Hand over the node!"

"You people just arrived and already think you can monopolize this territory?"

"Take them down! Once they’re dead, the node becomes ours!"

Hearing their shouts, Gorn gritted his teeth as he blocked a heavy strike.

"These guys really don’t know when to quit!"

CLANG!

At the same time, Lucian narrowly avoided another attack, his golden chains jingling frantically.

"There’s too many of them!"

BOOM!

Seeing the situation becoming increasingly difficult, Valerica unleashed her power, sending a wave of energy crashing into the enemy ranks.

"Then stop complaining and kill them!"

Meanwhile, Seraphin Lin fought beside them with elegant precision. Even with their combined strength, however, the newcomers were proving troublesome.

Seeing this, Caelus decided to test another ability.

His Star Magic was not limited to a single technique. It contained numerous spells, including offensive, defensive, mobility, and utility-based magic, yet he had barely scratched the surface of what it could do.

With that in mind, Caelus raised his hand.

"Starlight Blitz."

The moment he activated the technique, his entire body erupted with brilliant starlight.

As the energy continued gathering, a strange rumbling sound filled the battlefield, almost resembling the roar of an approaching train.

Before the enemies could react, Caelus disappeared.

BOOM!

He shot through the enemy formation like a falling star, crashing directly into the group.

The instant he reached them, the accumulated starlight detonated.

BOOOOOOM!

A massive explosion engulfed the entire area.

Blinding white light consumed everything as the shockwave flattened trees and sent debris flying in every direction.

When the light finally faded, the attackers had been completely dealt with.

Caelus casually returned to Gorn, Lucian, Valerica, and Seraphin Lin.

"Are you guys alright?"

They nodded slowly, still processing what they had just witnessed.

After looking around the area, Caelus suddenly noticed someone was missing.

"Where’s Sylvia?"

The atmosphere immediately changed.

Hearing his question, Gorn shifted uncomfortably, Lucian avoided eye contact, and Valerica’s expression became tense.

Seeing their reactions, Caelus immediately realized that something was wrong.

Gorn eventually answered.

"She was kidnapped."

Caelus’s expression froze.

"Kidnapped?"

"By the Ender of Death."

Hearing those words, Caelus’s pupils constricted.

The casual expression disappeared from his face as anger visibly rose within him, cold and dangerous.

Seeing his reaction, Seraphin Lin immediately lowered her head.

"I’m sorry, Caelus. I couldn’t do anything."

"Don’t apologize."

Caelus’s voice remained calm, but the anger beneath it was obvious.

"It’s not your fault."

As he spoke, Caelus clenched his fist tightly.

He should never have left Sylvia here.

However, if both of them left at the same time, the second node could have been lost. In the short time he had been gone, the node had already been attacked twice.

But even logically thinking about that did little to ease his current anger.

Gorn immediately added, "It happened right after you left."

Hearing this, Caelus’s expression turned even colder.

"Was she following us?"

"No," Gorn answered. "I’ll tell you everything."

With that, Gorn proceeded to recount everything that had happened, including the appearance of the mysterious woman, her resemblance to Sylvia, and the revelation that Sylvia was the First Ender of Death. He also explained how the current Ender of Death had ultimately taken her away.

After hearing the entire story, Caelus fell silent.

For several seconds, he said nothing as he processed everything.

Eventually, he looked toward the sky.

"We need to find her."

"We don’t have any time to waste. If we let things continue like this, she’ll be in danger."

After all, Sylvia was the First Ender of Death.

Even the current Ender of Death had confirmed it.

Because of this, Caelus couldn’t shake the thought of what might happen if that woman decided to do something to Sylvia because of her identity.

"We need to find that guy from the first node."

As he said this, he turned around.

"He knows how strong she is."

Without wasting another moment, Caelus took to the sky.

"Be safe, Sylvia."

With those words repeating in his mind, he flew across the Origin Expanse, desperately searching for Ethan Cross.

Eventually, he found him.

Ethan was camped near a small stream, surrounded by the remnants of his defeated faction. They looked exhausted and demoralized.

As soon as Caelus landed, he grabbed Ethan by the collar before the man could even react.

Ethan’s eyes widened in terror.

"W-Wait, what are you..."

Caelus activated Prime Mind Manipulation.

The moment the ability took effect, Ethan’s eyes instantly became blank.

"How strong was the girl who looked like my Sylvia?"

Ethan’s expression became vacant.

"She was Level 8 of the Emperor Rank."

Hearing Ethan’s answer, Caelus’s expression darkened.

Level 8 was far beyond his current level.

Still, he wasn’t finished questioning him.

"And do you know where she is usually spotted?"

Ethan slowly shook his head.

"No."

After receiving no useful information, Caelus released him.

For a moment, he remained silent.

However, after considering the situation, his expression soon became determined.

"I’m going to reach Level 8."

With that decision made, he flew back toward the node.

Once he returned, Caelus immediately told everyone to gather.

"We’re going to conquer as many nodes as possible."

Before they could leave, however, Caelus noticed the corpses of the attackers he had just defeated.

Seeing them, an idea suddenly came to him.

He extended his hand and activated Endless Extraction.

[Ding! You’ve obtained the skill: Myriad Soul Attack (Legendary, 6-Star)]

[Ding! You’ve obtained 10,000 Origin credits]

One more notification appeared after that.

[Ding! You’ve obtained the Talent: Multiplier!]

[Rank: Upper A-Rank.]

Caelus studied the new talent briefly.

Just as he finished examining it, another notification appeared.

[Ding! Your Gacha Wheel is evolving.]

[Ding! Gacha Wheel has evolved into King’s Gamble!]

[Rank: Middle S-Rank.]

Caelus was stunned.

It actually evolved into an Middle S-Rank?

After reading the description, he quickly understood that King’s Gamble was a superior version of the Gacha Wheel.

Instead of merely gambling for select rewards, he could now select something he already possessed and gamble on its quantity or magnitude.

Levels.

Origin Energy.

Origin Credits.

Items

Even Origin Energy Nodes.

More importantly, he could select multiple targets simultaneously.

It was essentially a dispenser where he decided what to put inside before gambling on the output.

Realizing how useful this ability could be, Caelus immediately selected his Level and added Gorn, Valerica, Lucian, Ayame, Freya, Seraphin Lin, and Candy as additional targets.

Unfortunately, Faust wasn’t here.

She had completely vanished ever since entering the Path to Worlds. Caelus had tried searching for her, but there had been no trace.

Not just that, if she was here. Things wouldn’t have been like this now. She was a powerhouse on her rights too.

Despite this, there was no time to worry about Faust now.

Caelus told everyone to remain still.

"This is a gamble. But if it works, I will be able to cut off the time I need."

The possible results appeared before him.

[0x]

[2x]

[5x]

[10x]

[50x]

Seeing the options, Caelus carefully read the system’s explanation.

0x meant the selected progression would be lost, reducing the accumulated progress back to 0%.

2x meant the current level progression would be doubled.

5x meant it would be multiplied 5x fold. meaning his level would be 5.

10x meant it would be multiplied tenfold.

50x meant the current level progression would be multiplied fiftyfold.

But he doubted he could get fiftyfold, it had an extremely small narrow column.

However, the gamble did not directly multiply the Level number itself. Instead, it multiplied the accumulated Origin Energy required for progression. Any excess energy beyond the current level threshold would be carried into the next level.

After understanding the rules, Caelus didn’t hesitate.

He activated King’s Gamble.

The wheel began spinning.

As everyone watched, the wheel continued turning.

Round and round it went until, finally, it stopped.

[5X!]

BOOM!

A tremendous amount of Origin Energy instantly surged into Caelus.

The moment the energy entered his body, Caelus trembled violently as his cells began expanding and evolving. Enormous quantities of Origin Energy flooded through every fiber of his being.

[Gamble Result: 2×.]

[Level Progression has increased by 4 levels.]

[Level: Emperor Rank Level 1 → Emperor Rank Level 5.]

At the same time, the same phenomenon occurred with the others selected by Caelus.

Gorn roared as power exploded through his body, while Valerica gasped as her strength multiplied. Lucian stumbled backward from the sheer intensity, and Ayame glowed with spiritual energy.

Freya’s body shivered as golden light enveloped her, while Seraphin Lin simply closed her eyes and accepted the transformation.

Once the transformation ended, all of them had experienced a massive surge of power.

Everyone stared at Caelus in disbelief.

"What did you do?" Gorn asked in a speechless tone.

Caelus simply answered,

"Gamble. Don’t worry about it."

After saying this, his expression became serious.

"But we have no time to waste."

Caelus looked toward the depths of the Origin Expanse.

"We’re reaching Level 8 as fast as possible."

His fists tightened.

"I don’t care what happens."

As he spoke, his gaze became resolute.

"I’m getting Sylvia back."

With his goal firmly established, Caelus looked toward the beasts being caught by the traps around the node.

Most of them were only Level 1 beasts.

They were practically useless to him now.

Realizing this, Caelus understood that staying here would only waste time.

If he wanted to reach Level 8, he needed to go deeper into the Origin Expanse. He needed to conquer stronger nodes and fight stronger opponents along the way.

"Let’s go."

Hearing Caelus’s command, everyone looked at him.

They were still bewildered by everything that had happened, but no one argued.

They had never seen him this serious before.

With that, they immediately followed Caelus toward the deeper regions of the Origin Expanse.
