Endless Leveling Done Right!

Chapter 767: Reunion In Everdawn City

After traveling for an entire day, Himea, Efa, Lavinia, and Latifa finally arrived at Everdawn City.

Unlike the city they had seen before entering Hy-Brasil, the city wasn’t as prosperous as the one they remembered.

If anything, it looked more like a developing city, about half the size of the one in their memories. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful city the elves had built with their own aesthetics in mind.

"We cannot follow you inside the city." Efa stopped a kilometer away from Everdawn City. "We still have things to do."

"You don’t want to see Alex?" Evangeline asked back, looking confused. "Why?"

"Because we have an agreement," Efa replied. "I hope the two of you will refrain from mentioning anything about meeting Himea and me."

"That’s right." The Little Devil nodded. "That’s the least you girls can do for our help."

"We will look for your other friends and guide them here to Everdawn City," Himea stated. "May fortune smile upon all of you."

After saying those words, Himea flew west without glancing back even once.

"I’ll be accompanying her." Efa waved farewell to the two girls. "I hope you’ll understand Alex’s situation. He’s in a... very tough spot right now."

"What do you mean?" Latifa asked.

"You’ll find out soon." Efa smiled mischievously. "It’s a shame I won’t be able to observe the crime scene—I mean, the touching reunion. But before I leave, I’ll tell you about Alex’s identity in this challenge—he is currently King Aetherion, the Hero King of the Elves."

Efa was very worried about Alex, so she went to look for him first. That was how she discovered that he had become King Aetherion.

She was also aware that Astrea had become his queen, while Aeris and Lapiz became his concubines.

Whether they liked it or not, they were at the mercy of the Synchronization Rate, so it was guaranteed that things would happen between them.

This was why Efa asked Evangeline and Latifa to be more understanding of Alex.

Because just like him, the two ladies in front of her were about to become helpless victims of the Synchronization Rate as well.

Contrary to popular belief, King Aetherion wasn’t the righteous king the Elves had proclaimed him to be.

In order not to tarnish his reputation, the royal family made sure to make the people follow their own narrative, which had become the history of this fabled Elven King of bygone days.

"Bye!" Efa smirked before flying away to catch up to Himea, only leaving a confused Evangeline and Latifa behind.

"Let’s go to the palace," Evangeline said calmly.

"Do you think they will allow us entry?" Latifa asked.

"Only one way to find out, right?" Evangeline smirked back.

Yes. There was only one way to find out, and that was to enter the city first.

Sure, they could just fly past the walls. But if they were caught, the elves might mistake them for enemies who were trying to infiltrate their kingdom.

Sometimes, going through the front door was the best way to gauge how friendly a nation was.

With that, the two landed on the ground and walked the rest of the way to the gates.

And just as expected, the guards stopped them at the gate, and the looks they gave them weren’t friendly.

"Halt!" one of the guards shouted. "State your identity and purpose for coming."

"My name is Evangeline, and this is Latifa," Evangeline answered. "We are friends of King Aetherion, and we have both come to visit him. Feel free to tell him our names. That will prove our identities."

The guards exchanged a glance before one of them called out to the Guard Captain.

When the Guard Captain arrived, he informed the two ladies that he had already sent a guard to the palace to confirm whether their words were true or not.

"Until we receive a message from the palace, we cannot allow you to enter the city," the Guard Captain said firmly. "I hope you understand."

"We do." Evangeline nodded. "We’ll wait."

After nearly thirty minutes of waiting, Alex arrived at the gate.

As soon as Evangeline saw him, the beautiful vampire ran into his open arms.

In front of everyone, the two shared a deep kiss, which made the elven guards flinch.

"His Majesty is up to his old tricks again..." one of the Guards muttered under his breath.

"So the rumors are true, then?" another one whispered to his comrades. "About our King trying to build a harem consisting of every race known to man? Now, a Foxkin and another human will be added to his collection."

"Shhh... not so loud." At those words, the Guard Captain glared at his men. "What will you do if His Majesty hears you? Do you want to be sent to the dungeons that badly?"

At the Guard Captain’s warning, the guards all shut up.

However, Evangeline and Latifa had superhuman senses.

They had picked up what the guards were talking about, but they remained calm on the surface.

"It’s good to see the two of you again," Alex said with a smile. "I was very worried when we all got separated."

He then made a gesture for Latifa to come closer.

She also missed Alex, so she didn’t refuse and found herself in his embrace.

The guards looked at their King, who was hugging two beautiful ladies at the same time, and sighed in their hearts.

Elves usually only had one partner for life. The only exception to that was the royal family, for they were expected to sire many heirs.

"Let’s go to the palace," Alex said in a voice that only the two ladies could hear. "There, we will talk about the things that we’ve discovered about this trial."

The two nodded in understanding and boarded the carriage Alex had used to meet them.

Since there was a chance someone might overhear their discussion, Alex simply asked them which part of Faelarun the two of them appeared in.

They replied to his question honestly. However, they didn’t mention anything about Efa and Himea.

Both of them had their pride. Plus, since they were wary of how Alex might react after mentioning the two ladies who had accompanied them, they kept their lips tightly shut.

Unfortunately for them, they would soon realize that following Alex to the palace might not turn out to be the best decision they thought they had made.
