ENERGI: THE PRIMORDIAL CONDUIT[OP MC, APOCALYPSE, SURVIVAL, AND LITRPG]
CHAPTER 101: EXCRUCIATINGLY DISGUSTING!Two days quietly passed.
Within this time, Kael continued to train on tapping into the laws, with no success. But he wasn't discouraged. If what the system deemed almost impossible could be so easily achieved then it wouldn't be worth pursuing.
No special night event happened these past two days, but rather than feeling relieved, a silent cloud of gloom hung over the academy, or at least what remained of it.
They could all feel it within their souls. In their bones.
Something was coming.
Something big.
As for Kael, he could only press down his dissatisfaction. His plan of leveling quickly to level 24 would have to be shelved for the moment.
But today, he decided to do something different. Anything to take his mind off Alice and his sister's lack of presence.
By now, even the principal had entered his trial and returned, yet those two showed no signs of returning.
Kael walked along the crumbled wall of the academy alone.
The place was a ruin. There were craters of different sizes on the ground, and shattered remnants of buildings littered the landscape.
When he got to where he had fought Logan, he didn't find any corpse, not that he had been expecting to. He threw the thought behind him, uncaring about the fact that he had taken a life when his mind was occupied worrying about another matter.
Just when he was about to leave the academy field, he came to a stop.
Nathaniel had already warned them, and he had no thoughts of testing out his visions.
Still, Kael knew they would eventually have to escape this haunted place, sooner rather than later.
Even now, he hadn't forgotten how the number of undead within the academy had kept decreasing. Not to mention that, for some weird reason, they hadn't appeared to attack the survivors for a while.
Something was coming.
'And I will be ready for it.'
He could only remain there, hoping that he would stumble upon a wandering zombie.
'I should be far enough for no one to be able to observe me.'
Just to make sure, he moved behind a portion of a yet-to-crumble wall.
Then he waited.
And waited.
Hours passed like this, but he wasn't perturbed. He kept shoving his Energi into his mind stat while thinking of other ways to go about his law training. At the same time, a part of his mind remained vigilant of his surroundings.
It wasn't until more than six hours of standing and waiting that a growl suddenly entered his senses. By now, the sun was already setting in the west, painting the world in the golden hues of dusk.
Kael activated Godly Focus and spread his perception out, covering a radius of over a hundred meters, matching his mind stat.
It didn't take long for him to sense an undead loitering just around the edges of his perception.
"Hey! Over here!" Kael shouted while waving his hands in the air, as if he were trying to attract the attention of someone arriving at an airport.
Since his Danger Sense didn't send warning signals, and his own growing instincts hadn't reacted, he didn't hesitate to act.
After some time, his shouts reached the undead, and the zombie that had been a tad lethargic suddenly launched into a frenzy as it moved in the direction of the sound.
A few seconds later, a level 25 Failed Mage Undead lay before Kael with its limbs twisted unnaturally and completely incapacitated on the ground.
The monster kept growling at Kael, trying its best to move closer so that it could sink its teeth into his uncorrupted flesh.
Which was quite ironic, as Kael was also having the same thoughts.
Now that he had reached the point to act, he couldn't help but hesitate. He gulped and thought inwardly.
'Will this truly work?'
The first requirement had been met when he mistakenly drank the blood of a living undead.
So what did Kael think was the second requirement?
He closed the distance to the zombie, squatted behind it where its face couldn't reach, and lowered his head.
The foul stench that hit him at this close distance almost made him gag. But he forced the feeling down. He had yet to eat anything for the day in preparation for this moment. As for testing other viable methods? He wasn't sick enough in the head to entertain such thoughts.
By now, the zombie's skin was decayed, pieces of it hanging from its body.
And then Kael shut his eyes and sunk his teeth into this very flesh before taking a bite with all his might.
The zombie froze as if even it was horrified by what it was witnessing.
As for Kael, he had already stood back up and taken several steps back.
'You can do it! You can do it! You have come this close, Kael!'
Veins bulged across his head, the blue light filtering out of his tightly shut eyelids increasing in intensity.
He didn't dare chew and just swiftly swallowed the contents in his mouth in one gulp.
Kael's face turned purple.
How would one describe the sensation of this particular meal? It was like swallowing a fistful of rotting sludge mixed with spoiled meat and stagnant sewage.
His throat bobbed up and down, but he restrained his vomiting instincts with all his might. Yet, as the seconds continued to tick by and he didn't receive the reaction he had been expecting, an overwhelming feeling of disgust laced with anger began to bubble up from within him.
It was then it happened.
