ENERGI: THE PRIMORDIAL CONDUIT[OP MC, APOCALYPSE, SURVIVAL, AND LITRPG]
CHAPTER 123: BANG!Looking at the endless grassy fields that surrounded the school, Kael couldn't help but notice a discrepancy.
'How didn't I notice the grass had grown taller?'
Before the apocalypse, it had only been as tall as a man's waist. But now, it was almost as high as a man's neck.
'I have really been out of it, huh?'
But that was only normal. When his survival was always hanging by a thread, how could he have the mind or time to pay attention to such things and concern himself with the surroundings?
It was already the next day since he found his second Talent. And today also held another significance. Counting the time, today marked a full week since the Logan and Ben incident, which meant Py would be returning tonight.
'In about seven hours, to be exact.'
Thinking about his first partner, Kael couldn't help but smile in anticipation, an excited light flashing within his eyes.
But when he thought about the reason why he was still out here, his smile gave way to an annoyed look. With his Talent passive, he had been able to detect the second Talent from a kilometer away. But therein lay the issue...he couldn't leave the academy's perimeter.
Therefore, he had to remain behind until midnight, observing as the owner of the green flame moved closer and farther away from his detection range. There was a time when the undead had even approached as close as 200 meters. Lost in his excitement over gaining a new Talent, he hadn't been able to react quickly enough before the undead slipped beyond his senses and wandered away once more.
Which brought him to his present situation.
'I must get it today, no matter what.' Kael clenched his hands into fists, his eyes flashing with quiet resolve.
Just like that, time passed. His sister sat atop Max, the four human survivors surrounding the duo like bodyguards. Kael ignored their actions and kept his entire focus on tracking the zombie's movements.
After using his Talent for a while, he had come to realize that his passive activated automatically the first time he came close to any Talent. But that didn't mean he couldn't use it whenever he wanted. As long as that same talent was close by, he could always detect it actively.
It wasn't until around five in the evening, the sunlight already dipping below the horizon, that the zombie entered a 200-meter range around him once more.
"Now!" Kael suddenly roared, snapping his sister to attention.
She quickly shut her eyes, her perception blooming outward to cover a 200-meter radius around her.
It didn't take her long to lock onto the approaching undead, and she quickly activated her main skill.
Shockingly, she met some resistance and couldn't immediately break through the undead's defenses. The tug-of-war continued for a full minute before she barely managed to crack the other's natural mental barrier.
Rose quickly took advantage of the opening and controlled the zombie's body, forcing it to move closer to them. As for completely taking control of its body, she still couldn't muster that with her current strength.
And the reason for that became apparent another minute later.
'Bloody hell!'
The thought formed naturally in Kael's mind when he saw the abomination that appeared before his eyes.
The creature stood over five meters tall, its four unnaturally long limbs twisted in the opposite direction, as it hunched on all of them like an animal. Its head hung upside down, and whenever its mouth opened, rows upon rows of razor-sharp teeth were revealed. Only a few strips of rotting flesh clung to its massive skeletal frame, and with every step it took, an overwhelming stench of decay rolled over the surroundings, so foul it almost made Kael black out.
But he quickly collected himself, just in time to find a massive shadow looming overhead.
His danger sense screamed.
Kael didn't hesitate, performing multiple actions at once.
[Godly Focus has been activated.]
He dumped an entire ten units of his Energi into Agility, boosting it by a whopping thirty points, and hurled himself to the side, a cloud of dust erupting where his feet had pushed off.
His body shot over fifty meters in a blur, Combat Trance allowing him to roll flawlessly before rising into a crouch.
He quickly raised his head toward the creature and only barely made out the brightly glowing orange [Lv. 56 ???] before a thunderous bang shook the area.
The creature's head exploded into blood and gore, and Kael faintly picked up a cheerful, "Headshot!" coming from behind.
Yet he didn't turn.
His gaze remained fixed on the creature, the green glow that had nearly coated its entire body abruptly winking out. A few silent seconds passed before the undead's colossal frame finally toppled to the ground.
Turning around, he saw the sniper rifle disappearing into sparks of light from Rose's small hands.
Only then did Kael realize he had underestimated his sister's prowess.
'I thought I was a natural counter to her because of my class trait... but how could I forget about her Soul Weapon?'
