ENERGI: THE PRIMORDIAL CONDUIT[OP MC, APOCALYPSE, SURVIVAL, AND LITRPG]
CHAPTER 143: A LONG WAY!Elena turned about to continue her killing spree, when her danger sense spiked. Thankfully, just as the warning came, so did it disappear.
A body jumped out of Elena's shadow, prompting the girl to quickly turn around. But when she saw it was only Nathan, she breathed a sigh of relief.
The young senior threw a dagger at a charging beast whose eyes glowed with a manic light upon seeing one of its own butchered.
The beast ignored the useless weapon about to reach it. Such an object could not even fit into the gap of its teeth.
Alas, just as the dagger reached its front, Nathan suddenly took its place, prompting the creature's eyes to widen.
Unfortunately for the beast, and Nathan alike, before any of them could react, a sudden bang almost ruptured their ears, blood splattering across Nathan's face.
The young senior could only fall back to the ground, as Rose's voice sounded within his mind.
Headshot!
Nathan sighed helplessly when he saw his kill taken right before his eyes, but he soon moved towards another creature.
There was more than enough enemies to kill, and even now, more were still coming out of the spatial crack.
Yet who would have thought, the senior would only be able to watch as his kills were continuously taken just as he arrived at his target?
Even Elena suffered the same fate. After her first kill, she had yet to fell another boar.
The word Headshot kept ringing within the telepathic network, and Nathan couldn't help but turn to gaze behind him in the distance.
Why don't we compete to see who rakes the highest kill?
Rose's giddy voice filled with schadenfreude came from the distance.
The young girl looked through the scope of her soul weapon, her eyes glowing with a slight pink light. She held the sniper rifle effortlessly as if it didn't weigh a thing, and even her standing posture remained steadfast, as she suffered no recoil or any other effects like a mundane weapon would, allowing every shot to leave the barrel with almost mechanical precision.
But when she saw Nathan grin in the distance, she couldn't help but raise a brow.
Suddenly, Nathan's lone shadow on the ground separated into four, before dislodging from his feet, and materializing with a physical substance. The dark shadowy forms suddenly took Nathan's appearance, and soon after five Nathans appeared on the battlefield.
Before anyone could react, the five darted in different directions, each approaching an enemy.
Oh no, you don't! Rose's voice sounded in the network, and soon after two deep bangs rang out almost simultaneously.
But that was all she could do, before the other three arrived before their targets. They each slid beneath the charging boar before them, the head of the monster swung in their direction, hitting only air.
As if mirroring one another, the dagger in each of their hands dug into the belly of the creatures, tearing through the hard flesh and forming a line of blood till their tail region.
The three Nathans slid back out into the open, before smoothly rising to their feet. After his trial, the young senior now fought with an experience he hadn't displayed in the previous night event.
He darted around the attacks of the boars, sliding out of their rampage like a shadow, his movements so fluid that it seemed as though the darkness itself was carrying him across the battlefield.
Despite using his soul weapons, the creatures' hide still proved difficult to pierce, but Nathan didn't mind. He fought a slow battle against three beasts more than twice his level, his other two shadows teleporting among the three fights to provide support.
Black hands and tentacles rose from the creatures' shadows to restrict their movement, as Nathan took advantage of the opening to carve lines of blood across their hides.
This time Rose didn't interrupt his fight, the occasional bang of her sniper rifle ringing intermittently on the battlefield.
Daniel had also joined the fight at some point, the middle-aged teacher moving to a lone side of the slaughter ground, where he killed efficiently with his blood abilities.
Such a battlefield was the place for Daniel to shine.
The blood of the fallen creatures rose into the skies before forming into thick crimson chains that coiled around the beasts' legs, sending them sprawling to the ground.
Daniel advanced through the battlefield with a blood spear in hand, accompanied by his bloody summon—a creature with a bat-like head and a lower body formed from flowing blood, connected to its master by a crimson strand. In its hands, it wielded a blood-red scythe, carving through each fallen beast with brutal efficiency.
Looking at the humans who were almost three times smaller than the boars, with their figures almost lost among their massive sizes, yet still massacring the former, the survivors at the back shouted in elation, the hope to survive flashing within their eyes.
Just a month back, they would have had to scurry to one side of the battlefield while killing weak stragglers at the end, just to rake in some experience to grow stronger and keep up with this damn apocalypse, yet now they were standing in the middle of the battlefield, facing monsters that had once seemed utterly untouchable, and slaughtering them with a confidence they could never have imagined possessing a month ago.
Kael's heart was filled with complex emotions at the sight before him. Watching as his friends slaughtered the creatures that he had hidden behind a window to gaze at in the past, he felt that they had come a long way.
Yet somehow, Kael knew this was only the beginning. The distance they had crossed was immense, but compared to the path that stretched before them, it was nothing more than their first true step.
A soft voice suddenly pulled him out of his reverie.
"I will stick to your side."
Kael gazed at Alice's side profile from the side of his eye, and he smiled before shifting his eyes back on the battlefield before him.
"Alright."
