The otherworldly presence watched as the undead mauled the dark-haired boy, her eyes narrowing into a focus.

But when she heard the boy suddenly scream out words she couldn't understand, her pinging luck reached a fever pitch.

'This is it!'

The dark-haired boy was still in the process of screaming when the scene seemed to freeze before her. Her mind churned, about to dive into the boy's own, when she felt something tug at her.

Her eyes narrowed once more, but she didn't dawdle. She quickly picked a random child, her senses piercing into their mind as she read their entire memories in less than a picosecond.

After getting a clear understanding of the world's language, her eyes focused back on the scene beneath her as she picked up the child's words.

"DO YOU THINK THIS IS A FUCKING NOVEL?!"

"GIVE ME POWER!"

'Hmm...so this is it.' She could feel her restless luck suddenly calm. Several thoughts flashed through her mind, ones that would overwhelm a supercomputer. She didn't make any move and simply continued to observe the child.

.....

The veiled figure watched the group of seven struggle against the undead, who had suddenly appeared and cast  its strange ability. It wasn't until the dark-haired boy she had been observing this past day fell unconscious---not because of the zombie's attack, but because of accumulated mental fatigue---that she spoke her second sentence since appearing in this world. She felt her luck reacting once more, but this time with a steady cadence.

"I have seen enough."

Her eyes followed the direction the undead had disappeared in, countless thoughts whirling within her mind. Then she turned back to Kael's unconscious body.

With a flash, her figure dissolved into three streams. One flew away from the campus, instantly vanishing into the distance, while the other two flew into two of the unconscious bodies in the room—one into the dark-haired boy she had been observing, and the other into a little girl who shared a resemblance to him.

.....

Kael didn't know when he drifted into sleep. But what was unsettling was that he didn't find himself in a dream.

No! He found himself standing on the surface of an endless ocean reflecting the infinite blue skies above it. Most importantly, for some reason, he almost felt... conscious. It was a weird state he couldn't fully grasp.

He turned around to observe this landscape, only to freeze on the spot.

His eyes widened as they fixed on a veiled figure standing just a few feet away from him, yet he had not noticed their presence until his eyes fell on them.

'How?' his thoughts churned as he retreated back a few steps, his actions sending calm ripples spreading across the water. He didn't understand how he could be standing so stably on such a body of water, but he didn't have the presence of mind to focus on it. The person before him warranted his entire attention.

Because their figure was veiled, he couldn't make out anything about them. He couldn't even tell something as simple as whether they were male or female.

Gathering his thoughts, his mouth parted:

"Who are you?"

The figure didn't reply to him, and once again Kael couldn't observe any reaction from them.

What he didn't know was that the figure didn't even have her eyes trained on him. Instead, she read the series of messages containing warnings and punishments flashing before her with placid eyes that mirrored the endless calm of the still water around them.

She had already expected something like this, so she wasn't surprised. But what had caught her slightly off guard was that the punishment she was receiving was far higher than she had imagined. In fact, rather than call it a punishment, it was more apt to call it an... execution . She could sense the rage of the system against her---a situation she had only ever found herself in a few times in her life. And this time, the system's anger was greater than ever.

'So I only have a few seconds, huh?' she could tell this situation happened because of the child before her. After all, she wasn't the only one of the ten who had appeared here, yet for some reason, the others didn't seem to take notice of the boy, almost as if a veil had been placed over their eyes . She couldn't stretch the short window she had this time; the system wouldn't allow such a loophole.

She instantly focused back on Kael, who had his guard clearly raised as he studied her and his environment. She could tell he was thinking of several approaches he could take, should she end up a danger to him, and she couldn't help but nod slightly in satisfaction.

She didn't linger as she felt her luck churning once more, almost as if urging her to act quickly.

'Fascinating.'

"Who I am does not matter. What does, is that I am here for you."

Kael stood stiff on the spot, his pupils slightly dilated, his gaze unfocused as if caught in a daze. In fact, his brain appeared to have short-circuited.

The woman sighed softly. Despite Kael not being able to catch even a glimpse of her, and her suppressing her charm to the utmost limit, he had still been enamored by just her voice.

In the end, she tweaked her voice to sound like that of a wizened old man, yet that was not nearly enough to hold back her already suppressed charm.

'But it should be enough...if not, this will simply be disappointing.'

Just as she had thought, when she repeated her words, Kael was pulled out of his trance. His body trembled as if he was standing bare skin on an ocean, which he ironically was.

But at least, he could control himself now, though barely. After all, he couldn't harbor such weird emotions for an old man now, could he?

As for the inhumanly charming voice he had heard before, it was almost as if his mind had instinctively wiped it off to protect him.
