The woman's enchanting voice now turned deep, like a man's, reverberated through the endless waters.

"We don't have time, child. Instead, I want you to concentrate and tell me how you feel when looking at me."

Kael's brows furrowed slightly. He was about to question whether the other party had lost their mind. How could they show up in his dream, presumably, and ask him such a thing? But despite the person's voice sounding composed, Kael had the illusion that they were feeling pressed for time. Also, for some reason, he felt...

Familiar with this person.

It was one of the reasons why he was yet to turn tails in the opposite direction, if escape was even possible in this boundless ocean.

As if sensing Kael's thoughts, the voice rumbled out once more:

"I seek nothing from you, child. I merely came to guide you."

Kael's tense body uncontrollably relaxed when he heard this.

'Why do I trust her? I don't know why, but it feels like I am talking to Dad.'

"Good." The voice resounded once more before continuing, albeit a bit more hurriedly, confirming Kael's earlier suspicion. "A day ago, I saw you scream out the words, 'I choose path 2'. What does that mean?"

Kael's guard, that had just relaxed, was raised again.

'What the hell? How does she know? Has she been following me all this while? But I didn't sense her at all. Besides, is this not a dream? Why does it feel so real?'

"We do not have much time. You need to hurry. This is something very important, not for me, but for your future. Believe me."

No matter how she tried to fight against the system's resistance, she knew she wouldn't last long. God or not, she was still below the system.

All beings were.

Kael remained quiet for a few breaths that seemed to drag endlessly onward, but the person didn't act to hurry him and simply waited.

Just when only half the time she had left remained, Kael spoke.

He recounted how the system had given him two paths to take, and he had chosen the second one that would have ensured his survival at that moment.

Despite how close he felt to this mysterious figure, and how his essence told him he could trust them, he still didn't mention the details of his class.

The person nodded imperceptibly at Kael's decision.

"So this alleged path one is better than the one you are currently on?"

"Far better."

'Hmm. Is this why I was sent here?'

Feeling the reaction of her luck, she had all the answers she needed. Now knowing what to do, she asked once more:

"And you can't jump back to this path?"

"I am not sure..." Kael answered, his lips drawing into a thin line, "but the system said it's almost impossible."

"I see..."

With a wave of her hand---something Kael could not see---an object suddenly appeared between them, floating a few meters above the ocean.

"Here..."

The object swiftly flew toward Kael. It looked like a fruit, one that resembled a radiant golden-orange fruit veined with flowing strands of light, its surface pulsing faintly like a living heart.

Kael tried to scan the object, only to fail. Instead, a different message appeared before him.

[ACCESS DENIED: AUTHORITY LEVEL TOO LOW]

"Try again," the veiled figure spoke.

Kael didn't hesitate and did as instructed.

But when he read the message that flashed before him, his breath almost hitched.

[MYTHICAL FRUIT OF REVERSION (Tier 10 Mythical rank)

Allows the user to revert their foundational path, resetting level, stats, and system alignment to Level 1.

Grants the opportunity to reselect one's Path.

Warning: This process cannot be undone.]

"This..." Kael froze on the spot, his throat bobbing up and down,  and his mouth parched.

The highest-ranked treasure he had seen to date was of the Epic rank---and that too had been hard-earned. His spatial ring had been granted to him when, despite being level 1, he killed an enemy at level 11.

How great was that?

It must be remembered that level 10 was a watershed, one where the awakened received a far greater boost than normal leveling. Yet he had killed such an enemy despite not having leveled once himself.

Not to mention, he still remembered how the system had said he had been the first to do so in the world. Which meant if any other person accomplished such a feat now, chances were, they wouldn't receive such an item.

As for the second treasure, it was his gauntlet. Not much needed to be said about that. Despite leveling up during their fight, that 30-meter long humongous leech had still brought him to the brink of death.

"I can't take this. I..."

"Take it. It's useless to me."

"But..."

"We don't have much time. Take it. Besides, we are closer than you think. It's only normal I do this."

Kael, who had his eyes fixed on the treasure with his heart beating wildly in his chest, suddenly snapped his head up.

"What?"

That feeling of familiarity surged violently within him, but the veiled figure refused to continue on that subject as they spoke:

"When you wake up, you won't remember any of what happened here."

The timer was already down to ten seconds, but she wasn't that tense. While she had said she was below the system, that didn't mean she couldn't resist its control. After all...

She was strong.

She was just about to move to use the treasure on Kael when his next words froze her on the spot.

"I don't want it."

Only a breath passed, but that might as well be centuries to this figure with her powerful perception. But that just went a long way to show how surprised she was.

"What?"

Various thoughts passed through her mind as to why he would reject such an opportunity. Was it because she was a stranger? Was it his pride? Regardless of the reason, what mattered was improving his strength, increasing his potential.

She couldn't help but feel...

Disappointed.

But, that was until she heard Kael's next words.
