CHAPTER 58: SURVIVE. EVOLVE. ASCENDKael couldn't help but raise a brow at the system message before him.
'What are the chances?'
It wasn't the first time such a thing was happening. But considering he was on a battlefield, he didn't spare the idea much thought as he focused on the messages before him.

.....
'System shop, huh? Guess the others must have unlocked it.'
He couldn't deny that he was relieved that there were still humans fighting out there for their race's survival. However, it was a fact that these messages didn't provide any benefits to them... for now.
With a tug of his intentions, his status page appeared before him, and his dark-as-night eyes fell on his level.
Level : 9 (840/900)
'One more kill should be enough.'
With that thought, he directly used all his Energi, bursting forward with such great speed that he seemed to vanish, each of his steps sending him across ten meters in a single stride. In what looked like a blur, he moved past the rampaging Alice and Rose's undead, and with a twist of his torso, he sent a punch rocketing at the head of an undead while ignoring the scorching flames surrounding the monster.
- BAM!
The creature's entire head burst like a crushed melon, blood and gore sent flying into the air.
There was a pause before a message flashed in his vision.
[Congratulations! You have reached level 10]
[You have unlocked the following...]
.....
A group of almost forty huddled behind a prepared barricade in front of the main staircase leading to the second floor, as they gripped makeshift weapons. Iron bars, metallic chair legs, fire extinguishers, baseball bats, pipe wrenches, kitchen knives, and any other object that could be found were gripped tightly to the point of knuckles turning white. Even unusual weapons like scissors, trophy stands, and screwdrivers were present.
The sound of trickling sweat splattering against the ground echoed loudly in the pin-drop silence, mixing with the frantic pounding of terrified hearts.
With a bright purple flash, Principal Martin descended from a portal on the main staircase in front of the main building. With rasped breaths, he rounded the corner and shouted with all his might, his voice swallowed by the sounds of explosions coming from the battlefield outside.
"Get ready!"
Arriving before the barricade, he teleported once more, this time directly behind it, a familiar rugged-looking boy at his side.
"How is it?" he forced out between rapid breaths.
The boy shook his head, prompting the principal to clench his jaws.
He had targeted the lowest leveled common zombies he could attract on the battlefield, and he could only hope they wouldn't draw more than they could handle.
It had barely been three breaths since he appeared when the sound of shuffling footsteps drew close, the light from the explosions casting dancing shadows of approaching monsters on the walls before them.
Many trembled, the weapons in their hands almost slipping, while a few girls had already descended into quiet sobs. But the principal's voice tore through the sounds, their tension, and their fear, his voice resounding loudly enough to be heard.
"NOW!"
- ROAR!
- ROAR!
- GRR!
Several common-ranked zombies beneath level 20 rounded the corner with rabid eyes and feral growls, their claws digging into the walls for purchase.
But before they could even lunge forward, a myriad of magical abilities cascaded down like a storm of destruction.
Fireballs exploded within their ranks, small lightning bolts rained down, metallic shards collided against bony armors, earthen spikes broke against flesh, ice spikes froze the air with biting frost.
The students with common-ranked mage classes erupted with as many skills as they could conjure without a care for their mana consumption.
The sounds of feral roars resounded from within the explosions as the side walls crumbled into debris. In the middle of the barrage, the powerhouses also erupted into action.
Ben summoned golden darts before sending them forward, Logan conjured three massive chunks of earth and flung them ahead as if launched from a catapult.
Crimson spears rose into the air, almost touching the ceiling. Their sharp points shone with a menacing glint as they rocketed down like judgment from the heavens.
Daniel's eyes shone with a crimson glow as he watched his attacks overwhelm the others before raining down on the disgusting creatures.
However, among this cascade of magical attacks, one stood out above all, eclipsing even his own.
Ice spike after ice spike was summoned above the group, their numbers starting from six and, in but three breaths, soon reaching twenty. The ice spikes fell with a coordinated rhythm and relentless cadence, even as more were conjured from behind them.
- BOOM!
- BOOM!
- BOOOM!
- BOOOM!
The sounds of explosions continued for a short while before silence returned, the sounds of fighting outside acting like a distant symphony of destruction.
The cloud of dust settled down and the outcome was revealed to the group.
The walls before them had completely collapsed inward, jagged cracks snaking across the ground while shattered concrete and chunks of flesh were strewn across the corridor. Black blood coated the rubble, while mutilated corpses twitched weakly beneath the debris.
But they didn't have to see the field to know the outcome.
The numbers above several heads jumped like surging tides.
In but a second, Elena, Daniel, Ben, Logan, and several more broke past level ten, with some even reaching as high as 13.
Just as joy bubbled in their chests and a feeling of success was starting to settle in, the situation suddenly changed.
