[Congratulations! You have reached level 10]

[+1 to all natural stats, +5 to Energi stat, and +10 free attribute points received]

[The system shop has been unlocked]

[You have unlocked a new Primordial Conduit class trait :-

Primordial Foundation: All stats temporarily boosted through ENERGI now have a 10% chance of becoming permanent]

[Notice: The higher the stat, the lower the success rate of permanent integration]

Arriving at this point, Kael's mouth couldn't help but drop open, which was quite a comical sight as the battle continued to rage before him.

'This will change everything. Even without leveling up, I can still grow stronger.'

Kael had just realized how significant the level 10 milestone was. He couldn't help but think of how the actual transformation into the first order would be, if the improvement from this mini milestone was already this incredible.

'It will probably be drastic.'

'Honestly, just unlocking this class trait is more than enough, but it seems my improvement is far from finished.'

He turned his attention back to the messages flashing before him.

[You have acquired a new skill: Godly Focus (Mythical)]

Kael couldn't even get a chance to ponder his new skill, as the temperature around him suddenly spiked.

[Primordial fire affinity detected]

[You have unlocked the Familiar Path]

[Select one Familiar

- Golden Crow

- Vermillion Bird

- Phoenix

Warning: Familiar Selection is irreversible]

Kael felt a rush of excitement that almost overwhelmed him. His jaws clenched tightly, and he gripped his hands so hard that his gauntlets made creaking sounds.

'Calm down, Kael! Calm down! I need a clear mind to make the correct choice.' Alas, no matter how he tried to calm himself, he failed to do so. Seeing that he could select one of these mythical creatures he had only read about in fantasy novels, Kael almost wanted to jump and scream, "WHOOA!"

Unfortunately, the last system message that appeared in his vision was like a bucket of cold water poured over him.

[Notice: If path 1 had been chosen during initial awakening, all three Familiars would have been obtained]

Kael stood there stunned, as he continued to gaze at the last message that looked more like a mocking smile.

Despite how stupid his actions might look, Kael was never truly in danger on the battlefield. For one, he had retreated to the back of their group, with Rose's first zombie covering their rear. Not to mention that, with how much he had boosted his perception, barely ten seconds had passed since he reached level 10. But that didn't mean he had all the time in the world.

Kael released a deep breath, his eyes regaining a deathly focus he had never shown before.

'What to do?'

He was already determined to break out of the constraints placed on him when he chose the second path. And he was determined to do it by himself. Who cared if the system called it impossible? He would prove it wrong. Those three words resounded in his mind again.

'Forge your strength!'

Kael's gripped fists loosened slightly as he took another breath.

'So do I choose now or do I wait?'

'If I do not choose now, there is a risk that I might not level up until I make a selection.'

'But is that really a problem? With the new class trait I unlocked, I can still grow stronger. A 10% chance is more than enough.'

'But if I choose now, I will be adding another task the system called impossible onto my tab.'

Kael ran his hand through his sleek dark hair, wet with sweat, a hint of frustration surfacing on his face.

'For some reason, my gut is telling me that if I break through the first order, I will never have a chance of escaping my fate. Which means I might be stuck at level 24 for a very long time. Since that is the case, it will be better to choose now. Not having all the strength I can would simply be foolish. Besides, if I can break through what the system calls an impossible task in the future, what is a second one?'

With his choice made, Kael didn't hesitate any longer.

Now the problem was, which among the three should he choose?

'From all the novels I have read, the Golden Crows are known for their immensely destructive solar fire.'

'Vermillion Birds are portrayed to possess a regal balance and battlefield superiority.'

'Finally, the Mythical Phoenixes are better known for their immortality, rebirth, and evolution.'

'Which of these three will prove to be the better partner during this time?'

Kael's mind churned as he shut his eyes and stood quietly for another ten seconds. The flames from the battlefield lit his pale face and somewhat gaunt frame.

Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, and with a move of his intention, he selected his familiar.

[You have chosen the Mythical Phoenix]
