ENERGI: THE PRIMORDIAL CONDUIT[OP MC, APOCALYPSE, SURVIVAL, AND LITRPG]
CHAPTER 84: TAUNTEDKael was so starstruck he couldn't move for a while.
The once golden hair had now become a beautiful blend of ice white and gold. Donned in the Rookie Combat Suit, Elena's enchanting figure was nothing short of breathtaking.
Elena sent a glance in his direction while simultaneously listening to his heartbeat. She had been expecting to see him look at her with that same disgusting look men always sent her—lust, possessiveness, obsession, infatuation. But she was surprised to see no such emotion in his eyes. Instead, this junior of hers only seemed genuinely shocked to see her.
But that was it. She was merely surprised by his reaction.
Her gaze didn't even linger on Kael for a second before it moved away, her hands remaining folded before her chest while she shut her eyes once more.
To Kael's praise, she had listened to what happened with Daniel. From the beginning, she had locked her senses on that group and knew how Daniel and the others were treating the girls. But she hadn't acted. After all, she was only here because the others hated her guts and blamed her for what happened last time. She had offered to stand guard as a way to repay the old man's help. With her class traits, she was the most suitable for the job.
But that didn't stop her from condemning Daniel to death in her heart. Once the opportunity presented itself, she wouldn't hesitate to take his life.
Kael coughed slightly, his face flushing red when his eyes met Elena's for a moment. He ignored the massive frame of the Ruinsteed at the side and walked toward Elena, who was leaning against the wall of the now-exposed class. Rubble and black blood filled the area, and he also noticed the clear marks of bodies being dragged away.
‘Huh? Seems they moved the bodies.'
He shelved the thought and arrived before the still impassive Elena.
“Hello.”
Silence ensued for a moment before Kael continued.
“I am Kael. It is nice to meet you.”
Kael wanted to offer his hand for a handshake, but even now, Elena was yet to react to his presence.
He rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment and stood there for a few seconds, unsure how to react. To Kael, those few seconds felt like years.
The awkwardness nearly made him faint on the spot, but still he gritted his teeth through it, and voiced his sincère thoughts.
“Haha... I am happy to see the student council president is alive. I just wanted to say hi.”
“Oh please! Will you stop being a simp? You are embarrassing me.”
The voice Kael had been expecting didn't come. Instead, it was one he couldn't be any more familiar with that rang out. And it filled him with dread.
Sure enough, when he turned, he saw his sister running a hand through the fine coat of the Ruinsteed.
“What? It's clear she doesn't want to talk to you. Yet you are being so clingy.”
A wave of embarrassment followed by one of humiliation hit Kael in close succession. He wished he could find a hole to hide in, and it seemed his sister knew exactly how he felt because she flashed that evil grin, one that prompted a surge of irritation to bubble within him.
“What are you doing here?”
“What? Why can't I come here? Last I remember, it's my beast that is guarding the entrance.”
“Tsk...” Kael glowered at his sister. He knew not to trade words with her for the moment. He had already been put on the defensive, and the best thing to do now was retreat and save whatever face he had left.
Elena finally opened her eyes as she looked at the little girl before her, curiosity flashing in their golden depth.
‘Are the two of them related? They do look alike.’
She had tried to start a conversation with Rose, but the little girl had all but ignored her for some odd reason. She had been thinking of how to draw her to her side. After all, Rose was not only the only legendary awakened among their group as far as the others were concerned, she also had this First Order beast under her control. She was clearly the strongest among them at this moment, and Elena knew it was a must to draw her to her side. She would need all the help she could get if she wanted to make those people pay. She wasn't arrogant enough to think only she could bring down her parents and those powerful figures.
‘I made a mistake.’
Her eyes fell on Kael. Only now did she truly look at him. And honestly, she didn't find anything special. He wasn't even the best in the looks department. Not even close. And he didn't really look so strong with his somewhat gaunt frame. Still, she knew she had to keep him within reach.
Unfortunately for her, before she could act, Kael, who was feeling more self-conscious and embarrassed than he had ever felt in his life, all but ran as he escaped his sister's merciless ridicule.
“Hey, you didn't even greet—”
Rose called out as she gave chase.
“Leave me alone.”
“Beg me, you simp.”
"Mark my words, Rosy, you will pay for this!"
Hearing the sound of her brother gritting his teeth, Rose chuckled mischievously.
Elena could only sigh as she watched them leave her sight.
‘No matter. I will still get another chance.'
She could sense Kael was already interested in her. She would make use of that opportunity next time.
And just like that, a week passed.
