ENERGI: THE PRIMORDIAL CONDUIT[OP MC, APOCALYPSE, SURVIVAL, AND LITRPG]
CHAPTER 83: FOILED PLANS“So it is young Kael. Thank goodness you are alive.”
The words rolled past Kael like a sluggish current. In fact, Daniel's mouth moved so slowly in Kael's perception that he had already opened his status screen to check for changes but unfortunately came up with nothing.
There was no new stat.
No new skill.
It was almost as if what he had just experienced was an illusion. But of course, he knew that couldn't be the case. Even now he felt strange. His mind felt clearer, and that wasn't because of his godly skill. He felt like he knew his heart better. He felt...
'Free?'
He took a deep breath and waved his status screen away. He would check the item he was rewarded later.
Only now did Daniel reach his next words.
"I am glad to see you survived, boy. Is there a reason you came here? As long as you need something, do not hesitate to ask me. I will definitely help if I can."
Daniel raised his hand as he offered. The way he saw it, the lack of status above this young student's head was probably because of his class, skill, or an item. He wasn't so sure. But while he didn't fear Kael, he also didn't feel he needed to antagonize him. After all, he might not be certain of Kael's power, but he definitely knew how unique Rose was. It was only because of her that the survivors could feel so relaxed at the moment.
But what Daniel didn't expect was for Kael to abruptly turn and walk out, prompting a vein to pop on his forehead.
'This boy has always been arrogant.'
Kael, on the other hand, stopped for a moment when he reached the doorway.
He had nothing to say to someone like Daniel. As for the survivors who were willing to join his group while enduring anything, Kael would have also ignored them. But for some reason, he felt like he couldn't just leave like that.
Not after what he had just experienced.
'Will I be any different if I ignore the weak when I have the ability to help?'
His mind churned, the superhuman thinking ability granted to him by Focus allowing him to come up with different thoughts.
"I will give the Principal one hundred coins specifically for the three of you. If you want them, go to him. It's your choice."
Before anyone could react, Kael walked out of the room.
He had decided. As long as it wouldn't affect him or his loved ones, he would help anyone he could.
'In this new hellish world, our humanity is the only thing separating us from those monsters.'
With that thought formed, he deactivated Godly Focus.
Kael staggered slightly as he held his head with a hand. Veins throbbed on his forehead, the migraine he felt almost splitting his skull.
.....
Back in the room, Rachel shivered when she felt Daniel's eyes pass over her. She felt as if she were naked under his gaze, and there was something predatory hidden within those eyes.
It was a very unpleasant feeling.
Thankfully, it didn't last long.
A malevolent light flashed within the teacher's eyes before his gaze fell on the three girls behind him.
The uncertain look he saw on their faces almost made his rage spill over.
He knew he wasn't strong enough to do as he pleased.
Not yet.
The only reason the principal and even that annoying Elena had not interfered was because he hadn't used force. It was the girls' choice to be here in the first place.
But that didn't mean he was helpless.
"If you leave now, I will never accept you into my group again. You know the advantages of remaining by my side. Not only would it be easier to get anything you want, I also promise to guarantee your survival, not to mention helping you girls level up. Think very carefully before you make a decision."
The three girls fidgeted under Daniel's and his group's stares.
Logan clearly felt disgruntled, a frown marring his face.
He had spent his coins to buy what could now be termed delicacies in this new world, and yet before he could fully reap his rewards, that annoying brat had shown up and ruined their plans.
He had been almost tempted to attack Kael.
He had always hated his guts in the first place.
But he controlled himself in the end since the others were clearly showing caution.
He might look like all muscles, but he wasn't a fool.
Now that there were people with higher class ranks than him, he could only bide his time and wait till he reunited with his family.
By then, he would crush all these people beneath his feet.
One girl finally steeled her nerves, her face flashing with resolve.
"I-I am going to meet the principal."
Once one person made the decision, it became easier for the others to follow.
"Thank you for taking care of us."
The girls bowed again and again as they retreated toward the door.
It wasn't clear whether they genuinely felt grateful or if they were simply trying to escape those pairs of hungry wolf-like eyes following their movements.
[You see that, girl...]
Rachel suddenly heard the mysterious voice in her head.
For some reason, it had been quiet after Kael left.
[This is power. Just a few words from that boy could make them second-guess their choices. While those men are too scared to act.]
[If you want to survive in this apocalypse, you need strength of your own. If not, you will be chewed up and discarded by the world. Accept my blessing! I will make you so powerful that even the likes of that boy could only bow before you.]
It didn't even take a second for the answer to come.
'No.'
Just the thought of remotely accepting this mysterious person's offer made Rachel's skin crawl and almost made her gag.
It was as though every instinct in her body was screaming at her to run. A primal warning she couldn't explain.
The mysterious figure wasn't surprised.
He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he was not fazed.
He would get what he wanted one way or another.
It was only a matter of time.
.....
Kael returned to touring the second floor after leaving the principal's group.
He had given the old man two hundred coins, a hundred extra to support the other survivors.
He believed it should last for a week without the principal and his team having to dip their hands into their pockets.
He walked down the corridor, ignoring those who passed him.
Finally, he reached the entrance to the main stairway, where he found why the survivors could be so relaxed.
But what Kael hadn't expected was not only to find his sister's new pet, but to also meet his...
Crush.
The girl he could only dream about.
The senior he could only gaze at from afar.
'Elena?'
