Chapter 114: Never Make A Deal With Devil

Lucifer wiped a tear of amusement from the corner of her golden eye, looking at me with intense curiosity.

"You know, Seth..." Lucifer grinned, her sharp teeth flashing in the warm restaurant light, "...every time I meet mortals or lower gods, they always whine about how I don’t act like a proper ruler of the Underworld. They complain that I’m too casual, too chaotic, or that I eat fast food on a sidewalk."

She gestured toward me with a fry. "You are the very first person who looks at me sitting in a booth, eating three cheeseburgers and chugging cheap soda, and says I behave exactly like a devil!"

I took another massive bite of my double bacon cheeseburger, casually chewing as I looked across the table at the Devil Queen.

"Honestly?" I said, swallowing the food and giving a simple shrug. "It’s not like there’s some cosmic guidebook dictating how a Devil is supposed to act. So why should it even matter how you behave? You’re the Queen of the Underworld. You literally set the standard. If you can’t even do whatever you please as the absolute ruler, you might as well just retire."

Lucifer paused.

She blinked her bright golden eyes in genuine surprise, staring at me for a full three seconds before throwing her head back and letting out another booming burst of delighted laughter.

"AHAHAHA! Oh, I like you!" Lucifer grinned, slamming her hand onto the table. "You make a damn fine point, kid! What’s the point of holding absolute authority if you can’t eat cheeseburgers when you want?"

She grabbed her massive two-liter soda bottle and raised it toward me. "A toast to setting our own standards!"

"I can drink to that," I chuckled, picking up my own paper cup of cola and clinking it against her bottle before taking a long gulp.

Setting my cup back down, I wiped my mouth with a napkin. "To be completely honest, I like you a lot better than I expected. I met some members of the Seven Seats in the High Council yesterday, and those guys were so strict, serious, and brooding. It felt like nobody had fed them a decent meal in three centuries. Compared to them, I definitely prefer hanging out with someone as relaxed as you."

Lucifer’s sharp golden eyes narrowed slightly, a dangerously playful smirk spreading across her face. She leaned across the polished booth, resting her chin on her hand.

"And what makes you so sure I’m not just putting on an act, Seth?" Lucifer purred smoothly, her tone dropping into a subtle, captivating frequency. "What if I’m just acting casual and friendly to lower your guard so I can manipulate the young holder of Origin?"

I didn’t flinch. I just smiled back at her, completely unbothered.

"Two reasons," I replied calmly. "First, you’re the Devil Queen. Putting on a fake personality just to make a mortal comfortable is completely beneath you. You don’t need to manipulate anyone when you have enough power to crush half the planet. Second... I can tell you genuinely respect food. Anyone who eats a burger with that much joy wouldn’t lie while sitting at a dining table."

Lucifer stared at me, her golden eyes widening slightly before a massive, satisfied grin broke across her features once again.

"Hahah! Outstanding!" Lucifer nodded approvingly, taking another French fry from the basket. "I am truly glad that someone as sharp and interesting as you awakened the Astral Soul Origin."

Hearing her mention my soul, my curiosity flared. I leaned forward slightly, resting my elbows on the table. "Speaking of my Astral Soul... do you actually know more about Origin? I’m still trying to figure out its full scope, and nobody seems to give me a straight answer."

Lucifer tilted her head, a wicked, mysterious smirk touching her lips. "Knowledge always comes with a price, kid. And as a general rule of thumb across all dimensions... you should never make a deal with a Devil."

She took another bite of her burger, winking at me. "Explore it yourself. It’s much more fun that way. But to answer your question... yes, of course I know about Origin. It’s one of the primordial authorities."

I rolled my eyes playfully, letting out a dry laugh. "Unbelievable. This is officially the first time in history a literal Devil is actively warning someone against making a deal with her own kind."

Lucifer shrugged casually, chugging another mouthful of soda. "Hey, I’m a remarkably honest Devil when it suits me."

"So..." I asked, wiping my hands on a napkin. "...did you actually come all the way to Earth just to meet me because of my awakening?"

Lucifer paused mid-chew. She looked at me, then slowly shook her head.

"Don’t flatter yourself, kid," Lucifer chuckled, waving her hand dismissively. "While you’re certainly a fascinating fellow, you were strictly a side quest for today’s trip."

I tilted my head, thoroughly confused. "A side quest? Then why are you even here at the stadium?"

"Are you serious?!" Lucifer gasped, her casual demeanor instantly shattering as her eyes exploded with intense, wild excitement. "I came for the concert, obviously!! It’s Nova’s final farewell performance!"

I stared at her in utter shock.

The moment the topic of Nova came up, it was as if a massive, long-repressed dam had burst open inside the Underworld ruler’s mind. The terrifying, ancient Devil Queen completely vanished, replaced by a hyperactive, unhinged otaku fangirl.

"Do you have any idea how hard it was to secure a VIP ticket for this show?!" Lucifer yapped rapidly, her hands gesturing wildly through the air as her face flushed with excitement. "I had my top Underworld generals camping out on the mortal network in advance just to bypass the queue! Nova-sama’s vocals are an absolute masterpiece! Her choreography during today’s opening hit was so sharp! So dynamic! Absolutely sugoi!"

I blinked, my jaw slightly parted as I listened to her sudden shift in dialect.

’Wait...’ I thought, my brain momentarily short-circuiting. ’Did she just use Japanese honorifics?’

[Nyahaha! Oh, the Great Lucifer is actually a otaku fangirl. This is so funny!]
