Yoona offered a smooth, elegant smile, gently waving her manicured hand. "What, no koala hug for your elder sister? I was really hoping for one."

Yerin growled softly, glaring at her twin. "What are you even doing here, Yoona?!"

Yoona stepped forward, reaching out and gently patting Yerin’s dark hair, a familiar gesture that instantly made Yerin pout in annoyance. "How could I possibly miss my baby sister’s grand farewell concert?"

Yerin harrumphed loudly, crossing her arms and turning her head away with fake indignation, though she didn’t actually pull her head back from Yoona’s gentle touch.

Seeing the cute sight, both Yoona and I couldn’t help but smile softly in amusement.

"Look at that..." I teased with a quiet, dry chuckle. "A total tsundere."

Yerin’s face instantly exploded into a bright, flaming crimson flush. "AAAAH! I HATE YOU BOTH!" she screamed in utter embarrassment, turning on her heel and sprinting straight through the open stairwell doors.

I shook my head, letting out a genuine, delighted laugh. "And there she goes... running away again."

Yoona shared a knowing, amused glance with me, chuckling softly. "It really is her signature move."

Yoona adjusted her light jacket, her dark eyes sparkling with warmth. "I’d better go after her and appease her. She’s just throwing a little tantrum because it’s been a while since we hung out, work keeps me so busy."

Before turning to leave, Yoona took a step in close and unexpectedly wrapped her arms around me in a warm, gentle hug.

I blinked, slightly caught off-guard by her sudden embrace.

While hugging me, Yoona leaned close to my ear, her soft, smooth voice dropping into a captivating, secret whisper. "Come to room 444 later tonight... I have a special surprise waiting for you."

She pulled back, flashing me a captivating, mysterious smile, before turning around and following Yerin down the stairwell.

I stood on the helipad for a second, scratching my cheek as I wondered what on earth she was planning. But then I shrugged, pushing the thought to the back of my mind. ’Whatever it is, I’ll figure it out later anyway.’

I turned my attention toward Val, who had been standing quietly nearby the whole time.

"You know, Val..." I said with a smile, walking over to her. "...you really have an amazingly silent presence. If you keep standing around like a shadow, people might genuinely forget you even exist."

Val shrugged her shoulders casually, her posture completely steady. "You never forget me."

Silence.

The moment those words left her mouth, Val froze.

Her dark eyes widened in sudden realization, and a deep, burning crimson blush exploded across her entire face and neck. She quickly looked away toward the roof edge, her stoic composure completely shattering into pieces.

I let out a loud, genuine burst of laughter at her reaction.

Stepping forward, I reached out and comfortably took her hand in mine. "How could I ever forget my dear bodyguard? I still need you to protect my weak, fragile self, after all."

Val’s deep blush lingered on her neck, but as she looked at my warm grin, the sharp embarrassment in her eyes melted away, replaced by a soft, breathtaking smile.

"I will always protect you, Seth," Val replied quietly, her voice carrying an unwavering, sweet sincerity.

I grinned, gently pulling her along by her hand as we headed toward the stairwell. "Come on, Val. You’re coming with me for dinner."

...

I took Val down to the restaurant section of the hotel complex. The building operated as both a luxury hotel and a high-end dining establishment, but surprisingly, the main dining room was completely empty when we walked in.

After giving the head waiter a quick order for a lavish, multi-course feast packed with high-protein dishes and fresh juices, I led Val over to a quiet table beside the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. I opened the side window slightly, allowing a gentle, refreshing night breeze to sweep into the room, carrying the quiet hum of the Capital skyline.

We sat together in comfortable, peaceful silence for a long moment. I knew Val appreciated silence more than most people, a habit deeply ingrained in her through years of high-level security training. Silence gave her the mental space to sort through her thoughts and keep her instincts sharp.

After the food arrived, I set a plate in front of her and leaned back. "So... how was your day, Val?"

Val visibly relaxed, a subtle softening of her posture that she only ever displayed when it was just the two of us. She took a sip of her fresh juice and began recounting her past forty-eight hours. Since the stadium was hosting the world’s largest open-air farewell concert tomorrow, she had been running non-stop, personally coordinating the physical security perimeter, the runic ward arrays, and the VIP protection teams.

It was a staggering amount of precise, high-stakes work. And as she spoke, I could see the lingering shadow of exhaustion in her dark eyes. She hadn’t taken a single minute of proper rest for two full days.

"You really need to learn how to take a break, Val," I sighed gently.

I spent the rest of the dinner steering the conversation toward lighthearted, random topics. We talked about silly gym stories, joked about Yerin’s dramatic antics, and even argued playfully over whether a sword or a spear was more practical in close-quarters combat. Seeing her laugh and genuinely unwind over a hot meal brought a deeply satisfying warmth to my chest.

Once we finished the last course, I looked across the table at her. "How are you feeling now?"

Val offered a rare, sweet smile, her vibrant eyes softening. "Much better, Seth. I have enough energy to go on duty for another two days straight."

My brow furrowed instantly. I definitely did not like that answer.

BUZZ... BUZZ...

Right on cue, Val’s phone vibrated against the tablecloth. She reached down to pick it up, checking the caller ID. "It’s Lord Julian—"

Before she could press answer, I reached across the table, snatched the phone straight out of her hand, and swiped to accept the call.

"Seth?!" Val gasped, her eyes widening in shock as she reached across the table to grab it back. "What are you doing?!"
