With Sunflare giving his word, Alex was finally able to go along with the Artifact God into the workspace.
Shen Yaojia followed him in and quickly set up a barrier around the workshop so no one could interfere. As soon as the barrier formed, she turned toward Alex.
"For a second there, I forgot you had the Undying God’s powers. I don’t think Senior Sunflare knew about it," she said, her eyes narrowing.
"He didn’t," Alex answered without looking.
"Care to explain what is going on? Why is a Celestial trying to follow you everywhere?"
Alex turned around. He considered how much he could tell her and decided there was no point in not telling her everything. "Are you aware of the Nine Yang Divine Tree, the one that belongs to the Nine Yang Court?"
The Artifact God looked away for a moment as she thought about the question. "I believe I’m aware of what that is. It’s currently lost in a lower realm."
"Not anymore," Alex said. "I brought it with me when I ascended."
The Artifact God was slightly surprised. "You have the Nine Yang Divine Tree with you?" she asked. "And... he’s following you around because?"
"Well, the tree can’t survive outside, so I have to keep it in my Soul Space," Alex said. "Until it’s time to take it to their realm, I must keep it with me. So, to make sure I don’t go anywhere or something doesn’t happen to me, Senior Sunflare has tasked himself with being near me at all times."
The Artifact God slowly made sense of some of the conversation that had taken place between the two of them. "So that’s what he meant by you having their god."
Alex nodded.
The woman scratched her chin for a moment. "How big is the tree?"
Alex shrugged lightly. "Decent, I suppose. I mean, it’s a one-of-a-kind tree, so I can’t really compare it against anything else. It’s still yet to grow a bit more, if that’s what you’re asking."
"Hmm... do you suppose I could get some part of it?" she asked as a glint of light formed in her eyes.
"A part?" Alex blinked.
"Just a branch, or some leaves. Or some bark. Whatever you can get from the tree," she asked.
Alex could hardly believe what she was asking him to do. "I... I don’t think that’s a good idea, senior," he said. "They’re going to be checking up on the tree every once in a while, and if they notice that their god is wounded, they would be rather angry."
The Artifact God paused for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, you’re right. I can’t do that," she said with a sigh. "I was just hoping to get a chance to work with materials that belong to that tree."
Alex supposed he could understand it.
"Well, if you’re willing to wait a few centuries, maybe a millennium if I’m unlucky, I can get you as much of the wood as you want," Alex said.
"Hmm? How?" the Artifact God asked with some curiosity. "Do you plan on stealing it or what?"
It was a joke, but Alex seriously shook his head in response. He scratched his forehead a little. "I may have turned the tree into my Creation, so once I reach the Divine realm..."
"You can make the tree whenever you want," the Artifact God finished his sentence, her eyes going wide in shock. "Is that... possible? It’s supposed to be a one-of-a-kind tree, after all."
"It is, but I’m not sure it’s supposed to be," Alex said. "The tree lives for as long as it can, and when it starts dying, it creates a single fruit to grow again. That way, only one tree ever exists. However, if there is another method to help it grow, I’m sure the old tree won’t mind."
The Artifact God was very much surprised to hear that.
"Well, if that is possible, then I would love to get some materials from it to work with," she said. "But I will have to wait a while, so I will be looking forward to it."
Alex nodded.
The woman was about to turn around and continue inward when a thought struck her just then.
"Wait," she said, turning around. "The tree is your Creation?"
"Yes," Alex answered.
"I thought my master was your Creation. Or the remnant of his memories or whatever," she asked.
Alex scratched his forehead, giving her a slightly embarrassed look. "I have more than one Creation."
Shen Yaojia’s eyes widened at the information.
"That’s not possible."
"It very much is, senior," Alex said with a shrug. "I can’t tell you much else, but I will tell you this. I have more than 2 Creations."
The God could hardly believe her ears. "More than 2?" she asked.
Alex smiled. "We should get to our task, senior. You called me here so we may continue working on the Flood Dragon’s scale, right?" he asked, looking around. "I’m assuming you found all the materials you were looking for."
Shen Yaojia waited for a moment, and after realizing that Alex had no intention of explaining anything, she sighed and nodded.
"Yes, I’ve gathered everything. After considering the purity of the scale I was working with, I realized that I wouldn’t really be needing many things. I considered adding some metal and leather strips to hold onto it, but I don’t believe anyone will be doing any actual holding, so instead we will be entirely focusing on enhancing the scale as much as we can, adding..."
She paused for a second and turned around.
"Actually, why don’t you tell me what we’ll be adding," she said, and brought out three things. They floated before Alex: a foggy white crystal, a fist-sized ball of amber, and a simple glass flask.
She tossed the crystal to Alex. "You’ve trained with the technique I’ve given you, haven’t you?"
Alex grabbed it and nodded. "I’ve trained as well as I could."
"Great," she said. "Then, tell me the properties of that crystal."
