Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1846 - 1845 - Crumbling Home

The pair explored the structures and found mostly dust or broken furniture. The barrier around the main building had collapsed but it was not alone.

Lind saw all remaining barriers, weavings, and the last dregs of energy were dispersed. He also noticed a change in just a few moments afterward.

A breeze had begun to build up and he quickly flew upward with ease to see the mountains had fallen! The valleys also filled in as the once diverse cartography flattened out.

What few ruined structures had clung on were taken with them as they barely held their shape before. The collapse was racing toward them.

He tried to erect a barrier but he still had no finesse! His energies ran wild while collapsing before even slowing anything down. He was as good as paper against a rockslide!

"HARO!" The spirit whipped back into the ring as the shockwave hit the outerwall.

It fractured in several places and collapsed but held. He was about to breathe a sigh of relief when the outer buildings shook and fell inward. He realized then that the weaving he had disturbed was connected throughout the entire land.

It was not just the landscape but everything was crumbling!

He moved like the wind. His leg muscles pumped with power as he moved into the structure before it could come down too. He passed many rooms, dusty courtyards, and several places that might have been furnaces or pill concoction areas.

He saw nothing to draw his eyes but he was looking for something else.

A barely hanging gate barred his way but it fell to pieces like crystal rather than metal.

Cracks were spreading as there was more substance to the main structure than others. The main weaving power had been focused there it seemed but it was not enough.

It was all falling apart just slower than before!

He finally found a stairwell going down and launched himself into the yawning entrance. The main libraries and studies may be above ground, but knowledge no one else should have access to would be in a sealed vault.

Sure enough, after a medium sized passage, he saw a sealed crystal door. Unlike the rest of the place, it still had power but it was unraveling before his very eyes.

"Sorry." He sent out an apology verbally as his arms shimmered with scales as his fingers became golden claws. It was like pudding to his swipes. He had never encountered a Ruin or Relic that had become so worn down before.

He passed through the pieces falling to the floor as a sudden rush came from behind. The structure above had collapsed! He was running out of time!

A long set of shelves shimmered in front of him. The canter of the room was a massive but dim emerald crystal that was far more powerful than any harmonic crystal he had encountered to date.

It was completely foreign to him just like before and he realized what had happened. If he still had the Fusion Mystery, he would have re-energized the entire world. He did not so while his soul was recognized, the energies he used were incompatible!

Defiance would not bow to Fusion!

He quickly collected every jade slip, scroll, book, and whatever was on the shelves into his ring. He barely got done before the ceiling began to creak and collapsed on top of him.

Darkness closed in but he was unharmed. He simply flew up and acted like a drill rising up until he reached the surface. The blue sky and sun greeted him but there was just a flat land all around him now.

There were no hidden areas and nothing was appearing despite the improved color.

Lind was covered head to toe in dirt, or rather ash-like, substances but he flared simply fire and water to clean himself. His robes were long destroyed but he had a few old ones left.

Haro brought one out and took stock with him.

"Those items are very ancient, Master. Some are stable but many are very fragile. I will try to protect them but my power feels inferior despite their weak state." Lind slowly nodded.

He dared not sink his aura into the ring as it would likely wreck whatever he tried to observe. He really needed to master his powers but he did not see how that was possible in the current state of affairs.

"Do you have any idea what this place is? It is not like my Emerald Haven or an Immortal World. Do all Eternal Realms have this?" Haro looked at him and Lind shrugged. Of course he did not know!

He was about to try a scan since nothing remained to be destroyed when the earthquake began. It was a small tremor that quickly grew into an affair that ripped open the surface.

The crumbling was not over!

Haro vanished back into the ring and Lind shot into the sky. He had no safer place but when he looked down his eyes narrowed to pinpricks.

An all too familiar vortex was partially visible at the depths of the cracks!

What was going on?!

{Stabilize your damn Hold! Are you trying to die?!} A very old man's voice appeared in his mind. It was not like before but almost as if it was a command!

Lind looked up in exasperation.

"I DON'T KNOW HOW! CARE TO SHOW ME?!" He roared in frustration. He had been pulled here against his will, told he would be safe, and now seemed to face his doom totally unrelated to the Original Bastard!

He knew his previous selves could not know it would happen for certain but they might have left SOMETHING to guide him!

A wizened and very pale figure appeared. He was missing a leg and what seemed like his left ribs. A knowing look passed after a glance and a pure white glow flowed from him.

Lind saw the shaking stop and the vortex vanished instantly.

"Damn glutton! Be patient won't you?!" Lind heard the crack in his voice. He was clearly in very bad shape.

How was that possible?

"What–?" The old man held up his walking stick and looked around in surprise at what was around them.

"Total collapse? That should not have happened. Even if your path has changed, you are still you. Why is this happening?" The pale eyes looked at him before shock passed over them. "What the blazes have you done to yourself?!"

Lind was getting mighty tired of being asked for information he did not have. He then simply summoned raw power.

There were 6 blazing orbs of Eternal Elemental Origin set into a field of emerald flames. The rail thin figure actually backed off before a crazy smile spread across his face.

"I will be damned! It worked! It really worked! I know you were different as a Divine Realm but the Eternal Emerald Dragon has been so familiar all this time. I am used to you adapting quickly and making crazy things by the mountain load. No wonder this place fell apart, you are entirely different!" A golden throne inlaid with pure white padding and gems appeared.

It was fairly restrained but its power seemed to allow the land to heal.

"I cannot do much more but you are really back to the beginning, right? Simple things are easy but the more complex things go out of control no matter how much you try to hold back?" Lind nodded swiftly.

A cackling laughter was followed by a dark violet gem appearing in his wrinkled hands.

"Hey, old hag! He pulled it off. Send you or your daughter over here. I am no good at teaching!" Lind felt his eye twitch. He meant he was too lazy!

The gem flared and a voice thundered out.

{WHO ARE YOU CALLING A HAG YOU THRICE CURSED BASTARD?!} Lind suddenly had a strong desire to leave. How bad could the Bastard really be?

"You were not listening, that old coot pulled it off! He is back to the beginning in a Hold reduced to Final Ash." The words had meanings but hardly needed contemplation. The result was obvious.

A long pause was then followed by a strike of lightning and a pair of women appeared. While their relation was clear, the older one only had a few white streaks in her hair. She retained an ethereal beauty with a narrow face and jade white skin.

Her dark lips were currently frowning with her eyes staring hard at him. They were like dark pools that he could hide nothing from. Her figure was neither too voluptuous nor lithe. It was like she hid her dimensions from any close examination.

Her robes covered her from her chin to her fingertips as well in stark contrast to her companion.

The dark violet haired young woman was nearly flaunting her figure in a tight set of robes but still covered. Her hands were exposed with dark nails evident as she had her hands crossed in front of her.

Her back had a massive broadsword that seemed impossible for her to wield but Lind's instincts screamed at him to not underestimate her.

Her eyes were a nearly startling blue in contrast to her mothers but her face was nearly identical otherwise.

"Impossible. You are the Eternal Emerald Dragon but not the one we know! You really did it?!" The older woman was in front of him but froze as she took in the old man and her overbearing mood fell away.

A long silence stretched before anger rose.

"How many?" The two words seemed to cut into the old man yet Lind knew what they referred to. The Eternal Realm cultivators had been buying him time. There was only one price to be paid to do that.

The old man sighed and looked far more frail than before.

"That monster ate 9 more of us. The Twins escaped saving who they could while I bought time with the other old timers. If not for the Eternal Seal Child, I would be gone too." The silence was now deafening.

Lind felt rage boil until something clicked into place. The power he could never fully control was now ready to respond.

{I WILL KILL HIM!} Emerald light flared and the world changed!
