The trio of Eternal Realm cultivators looked on as Lind was lost in something they all knew well.
The Eternal Realm was a beast. It did not make anything easy to control while seeming so close to being under control.
Conscious thought always tried to go down familiar paths even when it was clear it was not working. Instincts were even worse.
Yet, there was one way to overcome it in the early days.
A fundamental intent combined directly with the raw power of the dantian source.
"He has said such words before, yet this time–" The old man glanced at the young woman. She was an insane level of talent. It was so rare that a child could catch up to a parent at the Eternal Realm that it could be counted on one hand.
His glance was enough to disrupt her though.
"Do you think he is truly on the path?" The old hag asked but her normally cantankerous voice was full of awe. He understood.
It was called the Eternal Realm but true eternity was not handed on a silver platter. There was one more finish line.
"We have all reached this stage but I will admit that he is unique. No one had been able to not only try again and again, he also created a whole new path from before." All 3 observed carefully as the storm of energy began to spread with Lind at the center.
"It is starting." It was always unstable the first time and quite unconscious. The man that carried the name they knew so well was an alien to them now.
Normally, the Fusion Mystery would compile all previous results and add the new to grow stronger. The Eternal Hold would then be repaired and restored for anything that survived the long intervals between his ascensions.
Now, the dragon had truly shed its skin. Even they, his closest allies, had long known that Fusion would not be enough. It gave options and power but ultimately, he was unable to integrate anything that could finally sever the life of the Fiend.
Now that the monster had consumed more Eternal Realm cultivators, he would be even harder to kill.
Technically, no one had known they were vulnerable until the Fiend had wiped out so many old relics still clinging to life. They had known there was another tier above the most common one, yet they knew of no one at it.
That fact made the community think there was some requirement they had to figure out on their own as each Eternal Realm was entirely unique. No comparison or sharing of experiences seemed to help make that final breakthrough.
The Fiend's brute force method would work though. They could feel his power rising but some final wall held him back. That wall was his old world. Something about it starting over held the monster back.
So long as his original world existed, the Fiend could not escape his karmic weight. If it was consumed forever, that restriction would vanish and they all understood all life would be pulled into the bottomless void that was his dantian.
The once flat landscape began to shift and the trio felt shocked as the flow of time began to change! At their level, it should have been nothing as their lives were unending yet time moved at such a grand scale that the old man's injuries were healing faster than normal!
The vitality of the land was far higher than ever before and diverse as the hold began to expand! Waterfalls, mountains, and all manner of environments began to appear. A loud crack was heard as several sections rose up into the sky!
It only took a moment for them to feel 18 elemental forces working in concert to create a paradise of cultivation for anyone!
"WHAT IS GOING ON?!" The old man had no answer to the young woman's question. He did see what was happening but he would be damned if he could explain it? Most Eternal Holds reflected its owner. They were sustained by the cultivator and would become the ideal place for them to grow stronger or protect those that they wished to rise up.
It was the only way to safely connect with their old homes as direct contact was impossible.
The heart of the landscape suddenly pulled their eyes as a vast tract of land rose up to make a massive plateau. Rather than a weaving or other crafted solution, a glimmering pool of Qi condensed into physical form!
"THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE! HOW HAS HE MADE AN ASCENSION POOL?!" The old crone was not wrong as even the old man felt like he choked on air. Making a teleportation or bloodline array was feasible and normal. There was even a few that got fancy with an artifact or 2 and made a kind of bridge for people to cross over if they had prepared something similar in their old world.
An ascension pool, however, was completely a tool of Heaven and Earth. That did not exist among the Eternal Holds!
"His intent is the same but I think we have severely underestimated his power." He finally spoke the only conclusion he could reach. Lind Frey had always sworn to kill the Bastard and it had often triggered similar results with various versions of him.
Yet, it was clear that the new path he followed was horrifyingly powerful. Intent never changed, regardless of realm. All that changed was the power behind it.
The Fusion path had grown yet it simply tried to incorporate more Daos, Laws, and his professions. The power they felt now dwarfed that by far!
He was only beginning too! The maelstrom was settling down as rich Qi began to flow across the hold. That was when they noticed another change.
There were no structures at all! Normally, when forming a hold, the Eternal Realm cultivator would sculpt the perfect place from which to rule their domain. While beasts had far more nature in their, they still knew the importance of a seat of power.
It might be made of bones or stone, but it would still be an artificial structure.
There was no such thing now! It was a first!
"From complexity back to simplicity. I feel inspired!" The old crone was crying but the old man was no different.
"Senior Goldthorn, look." The young woman drew his attention and he nearly fell out of the sky. Lind had been in his human form but now he was in his dragon form and it made a change!
The sinuous body was like a living armor that retained its emerald color but now seemed able to shatter all obstacles. His golden claws could rend the finest thread to the most robust mountain.
His fangs could shatter stars at a glance! The 3 horns on his head had fused into 1 but felt like it contained multitudes. The mane, once a shimmering of many colors now returned to its pure emerald yet a single hair could slice any metal!
The entire body seemed like it could crush any foe and in the natural environment, he was the undisputed king!
He had stopped blaring his power and returned to his original state but Goldthorn felt like something had shifted. It was as if the struggle they had expected had been cut in half somehow.
The trio looked on as Lind opened his massive reptilian eyes and then roared into the sky. Black clouds gathered and powerful lightning struck the ascension pool. The sound of glass shattering was heard and they realized the connection was complete!
{It is time.} A voice suddenly filled their heads that none had heard for a long time. The young woman looked at the older pair confused as they began to cry in remembrance of long buried thoughts.
Hope bloomed in Goldthorn's heart. He could do it!

Across the Divine Lands and a certain Immortal World, all the Harmonic Dragons suddenly stopped. They all turned to a single direction and up before their roars shook their respective worlds.
On the Emerald Isle, Sun was relaxing after another good fight when all the golden fur stood on end! He tried to find the source before he heard the roar.
A silvery light snapped into existence as black clouds gathered to stop whatever it was. Yet, when he looked up at it, tears formed in his eyes.
It was an ascension pool! He recognized it well enough having seen many of them in his race memory let alone his own. Only 1 being would try to offer a path out of the cage they were in.
It had been so long and he had wondered if Lind had succeeded. He now had his answer.
Space distorted as one Divine Realm cultivator after another arrived to witness the clash of 2 forces.
Heaven and Earth were resisting the arrival of the silvery light.
It was clear it was not allowed or, at least, it had to be earned. All of a sudden, far more powerful lightning blasted the black clouds away and a column of silvery light slammed into the Emerald Isle.
A familiar aura then spread across the Divine Lands.
{It is time.} Sun wept openly as many others did. Dragons roared with other beasts in joy. Hope flew across all lands as many rushed to the source of the call.
The spirits of Heaven and Earth acknowledged it. The war was back on! The final war with the oldest foe. Lind needed help and by the spirits, they were going to give it their all!
