Lind struggled to summon his full power. Having done it once, he was careful since control was a known issue. Still, he was taught that was his Primal Path. In other words, Defiance Path with no filter.
Essentially, so long as he avoided that raw power, he could be relatively safe. The issue was he seemed to only have an on/off option at the moment. Even though he could craft very well, it was mostly because making elixirs, weaving, or Forging could be discerned via parallelism.
While Fusion was no longer his path, he understood what he needed to do almost instinctively for his needs. Once he picked that apart, he was able to grasp a bit of what the trio was trying to teach him.
The trick to tapping into his dantian was not so much about summoning the power but starting with the storm in his brain. He did learn something else from that little test. His learning curve was insane.
He only had to succeed once and he could extrapolate quickly from there. It started with a simple attempt to manipulate Time.
He recalled how he had trapped the Bastard in a trap of infinity. No matter how one tried to move, they could never escape the constantly increasing flow of time. There was no end, just the endless flow.
He sat in a lotus position and focused on the space between his hands. While no one else really understood what he was doing, he felt the strong memory distill itself into a desire. He took that and made it into an intent to affect the outside world.
Sparks flew in his skull and traveled down to his dantian. He saw the energy churn while a kind of gold and emerald stream responded. It flowed out of his dantian and into his meridians leading to his hands.
He nearly lost control of it, yet held steady until the air distorted between his hands. A smile broke out the instant it stabilized. Compared to before when Mystery energy was needed to achieve the same effect, it was far easier now!
The moment he was distracted, however, it unraveled with a snap like thunder.
"Time, eh? You won't have much use for that here. The natural flow is far stronger than anything you will be able to use plus we have no lifespan. We just are." Star spoke up but Lind frowned in his mind.
He did not think that was quite right. Just because they ceased aging or had no decrease in vitality did not mean they could go on forever. Forever was a concept few truly grasped.
An epoch was about 25 to 40 billion years depending on perspectives or living circumstances. His Emerald Haven, for instance, an epoch could be 100 billion years inside while far less passed outside.
Still, it was defined. What could be measured was easier to endure. Eternity had no such definition. Just because something operated like it was alive, did not mean it was.
Fading was the dissolution of a Divine Realm by choice or by enough injury they could not heal. Eternal Realm cultivators could die from their own crippling, so there had to be other ways.
Perhaps the current tier could be considered some kind of final step to shed that last bit of mortality.
He pushed his thoughts aside as he quickly grasped what went wrong and tried again.
"Time is not a good test, like Eternal Star said, you should try something more useful." He ignored Lightning Fist. He knew what they were trying to say but he had just had an epiphany.
Instead of trying to enforce his trap, he wanted to grasp if Time existed around him!
The reaction from his mind was much larger. Sparks flew down his spine to his dantian and his dantian stirred far more. Yet, no power flowed in his meridians. He frowned and tried again.
It failed over and over but it made sense to him. He was a source but not the only source. He had technically birthed the hold around him so it should be easy. Why was he unable to analyze it?
"I could strike him. It would make him focus more on what he needs to kill that cowardly creature." Bloodsight went straight for violence but Lind felt a bit of an inspiration.
He changed his tactics and made time change around his fist. He struck out to damage the flow around him! It worked!
Reality distorted and he felt something push back on his actions. His emerald eyes went wide but the trio backed off in shock.
"Maybe Time is not such a useless thing after all?" Bloodsight seemed to get a bit excited but Lind finally had a thread to pull on. He grasped at it tightly and felt that resistance clearly.
A frown formed as it was far more potent yet that was not all. The quality was very different from the Time he knew. Past, present, and future were what he based his Mystery on. The feeling around him seemed to lack that.
"OF COURSE!" He became excited as the trio's words came back to him. They were right! He was still trying to impose the rules of Heaven and Earth! Instead, he needed to just sense what was!
A new storm flowed from his mind to his dantian but now all his meridians flooded with power! Time, Tapestry, and Possibility all reacted. He wanted more! He wanted it all!
His dantian became thick with power and harder to move, yet it did not stop. It just became necessary to use more intent.
Finally, he sensed the world around him in a different way. He could feel how it was resonating with him but he ignored that. He was looking for the resistance he had felt. He was sure it was critically important!
Path and Intent fused into one were the foundation of his power yet only intent was needed to reach out into the world? Why?
He began to pick apart their system and he found it was flawed. It was not as simple as the misconstrued elemental theory. That had been more about being satisfied with what worked for 99% of every cultivator and not caring about the failures.
Now, it was about assumptions. They were so powerful they had no need to question as they were correct. Eternal Realm cultivators did use their Path and Intent to manifest their abilities. Yet, that was not the end!
Lind's fingers began to move carefully as he manipulated the forces around him. He did not want to change them. He wanted to understand.
Unknown to him, power began to flow into him all 3 around him recognized!
"How?!" Lightning Fist felt doubt creep into her voice but the other 2 were hardly any better. Lind was lost in the feeling of the world and began to float upward as some pieces filled in the gaps. Still, some pieces no longer were right too.
Even his alternate selves had been wrong!
No wonder they could never kill the Bastard! If the Fiend had figured out what Lind had or due to his nature bypassed the need to learn it, no one could kill him.
They would fail every time!
Lind slowly awoke from his enlightenment and was shocked at his current state! His body felt invigorated and his once lethargic dantian was lively.
Understanding took a moment to catch up and a smile spread on his face as he tried out his new ideas.
The grass in front of him suddenly shot up to his knees before withering and then new buds replaced them. On another side, a cloud came to a standstill as if frozen in glass! Time was changing all around him but that was not all!
Qi was going from mere Soul Qi to Eternal Qi in chaotic swirls around him. The vitality, death, and rebirth of several plants and animals occurred without any active attempt from him.
The final Mystery he had condensed had clearly let him grasp the chance he just went through. Slowly, he was getting better and better using his Path.
"HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT?!" Of the 3, Star had completely lost his composure. Bloodsight was giggling with a strange look in his crimson eyes. Lighting Fist had fallen to her knees.
He tilted his head in confusion at them. Was he not simply grasping his dantian and his power better? It was far from perfect and very slow compared to the near instant abilities they had shown him, so what was wrong?
Lind looked around before he realized what was wrong. There was no Intent. His mind was as calm as the mirror surface of a lake. It was pure Path.
He carefully realized what had happened. His smile got wider across his face. He had been right! Intent and Path were the first step but they were training wheels! So long as you needed intent to make it work, it would be trounced by Path alone!
His enlightenment was still being digested but that revelation came back to him. The Bastard had shattered Heaven and Earth to live forever. He paid a price but achieved his goal. From that moment, he never varied from his goal.
His Path was now clear to Lind. It was not consumption or even to be the strongest. It was just to live at all costs. Nothing was off limits and there was no taboo in his eyes.
Unless someone on the same level fought him, there was no way to win! His Path was too strong!
Lind then felt light headed. He slammed into the ground and had to catch himself with his shaking hands. It had not been that long yet he was so tired?!
"I think you 3 are not as helpful to him now." A woman's voice pierced the fog and he looked up to see a very robust aether child. She had crimson and gold skin coloring yet he felt like he was in front of lightning incarnate.
The trio were bowing deeply to her but she only looked at him. Her eyes were not like other aether children. They were not the colors of her body. They were pure lightning!
"Lind Frey. We have never met before but I feel you have answered a question many of us have sought since we ascended. I am the Eternal Thunder Child. Come with me." There was a feeling of facing a tribulation in her voice but Lind smiled up at her crookedly. He could barely stay on all fours!
A sigh left her before he felt a force pick him up like a child! He was then unceremoniously taken away! Lind wanted just once for him to not be treated like an invalid!
She could have just let him recover!
