Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1871 - 1870 - Recognition

A scouting mission was out of the question but Lind only needed to know where and he created what he needed. His Forging and weaving worked in tandem to create small and impossibly powerful artifacts that could function in the empty space between the holds.

Unlike his previous creations, they had to function entirely on internal power. For that purpose he used his weavings. He created a weaving that created a cycle of energy on par with a star.

It was contained to the size of a small chicken egg while the traces connected to the ore he Forged into a craft built to relay what it saw without being detected at all. There was no trace of Qi, only raw forces of the universe contained behind shielding that were purely physical.

The recording and detection ability were also mechanical. Silent and without a ripple any cultivator could grasp made many of his own family scratch their heads. They had never conceived of such a thing.

The issue was the Bastard was not reborn from just any world, but the same as him. It was entirely possible he also used tools that paralleled what he was doing. Lind took steps to counter that just in case.

The caution might seem extreme but he had no way to predict what the Bastard would do if he was detected.

The hull of the small machines absorbed all frequencies of energy and safely dispersed it without interruption. In other words, it was as if they did not exist so far as the flow of energy was concerned.

That included Qi but if the Bastard sent out Fiend Qi, he was unsure how well it would work. There was no ore that could disperse that vile Qi without having power of its own. It was the best he could do and once done, it looked like a small sphere body with wings that served more as thrust than anything else.

There was no gravity outside the holds, no forces at all save what came off the holds and the golden barrier. Those same forces would allow the wings to move the machines.

The interaction caused gentle ripples and those would be the momentum he would ride to the source of the Bastards trap.

Once he had 7 of them made, he set them out. No external connection at all, just a pre-programmed route. They would move out, reach the source of the connection Spirit Call Eternal detected and come back.

They flew out slowly from him and he knew it would take some time for them to return.

He returned to his hold and resumed his cultivation. He had a new thought after making the machines. He had recognized a part of himself that was both inside his Harmonic Core but also outside.

It had contributed far more to his ideas than anything else he had experienced. A slow smile spread on his face as a new foggy area coalesced as expected. Unlike other attempts, however, he knew what to put into the new part of his inner world.

Figures began to appear but could not fully manifest. It seemed people were off limits. That made sense. Considering what a Divine Memory could do, he did not want to imagine what would happen to people when an Eternal Realm tried to extract the memory.

Since he was recreating pieces in his head, it was not just memory but things to be used by his Harmonic Core in conjunction with his Path and Intent. Lind could not do that to people.

Places, however, were not a problem.

A rather mundane section of corporate office space appeared. The drab colors and lights that seemed to dull the mind came back all too easily but the pair of desks stood out.

One was a bit messy with sticky notes, a few random print outs of some project, and rounded out by a keyboard that badly needed to be replaced next to an explosion of fandom.

Small figures, just inside corporate guidelines, with posters, and a few books from across the anime and science fiction genres were tucked away behind binders used for work.

The keyboard was lit up and had far more keys than was standard. Lind smiled as he saw that keyboard. For all that George annoyed some people with his expressive love of his hobbies, he was a monster of macro work.

What took a team to do, he could pull off all on his own. The first tendrils of AI use had made him laugh as he ran circles around them in testing. Lind wondered if George still could when that technology advanced but he doubted a machine would ever surpass him.

The place they spoke the most had stayed with him and come back in snippets to inspire him. It was a bit said it was work but 9 plus hours a day and inhuman hours per week made it the easiest.

The next slice to condense was the most insane looking room. It was full of fantastical blueprints and notes on how machines that could not practically exist should work of humanity could resolve certain limitations.

Lind smiled wider and still felt a vein throb in his head. The rare 4 day weekend that did not cost him PTO had been subsumed by George. They had planned to go to a few outdoor festivals, get drunk, and maybe meet women but Lind had made the grave mistake of questioning the ability of a mobile suit ever existing in real life.

George was not a man to take such a thing lightly and gave him a crash course that was burned into his skull against his will. By the time Lind surrendered, the weekend was gone!

He had not spoken to his friend in a week after that but then George showed up with a girl and her friend as an apology. It was hard to stay mad but the thing that always mystified him was George's social life being so active when he seemed to come to work with a new series update or manga release to speak about.

He always wondered when his friend slept!

The final third was the hardest. It was a very old memory.

He was a very small child when it happened but it was what sparked the friendship with George so it was critical to him. There was a storm raging outside and he was hiding from the lightning.

The bedroom was rather spare as he was more the outdoors type. Even later, he made a point of running outside or working out if he could. The office was a soul sucking experience for anyone so being in the sun was the feeling of true freedom on the weekend.

Lind then saw the chair and the book. It was a very worn book that had clearly been read many times by the owner. He barely could recall much about his father as he had passed away a year after the night he recreated.

It was a book about wizards, dragons, and so much more but the content was not what he remembered. He remembered the callused hand gently patting his head and the voice, so deep it made the thunder seem tiny, lull him into sleep.

The story was barely heard as all he felt was safe but just as sleep had been closing in, the words came back to him.

{The storm is just the world adjusting. It passes and you will be there to see it. A good story lets us see the changes in us too.}

It was a father comforting his tiny boy but when he met George, it was the first time he remembered his father so clearly. His life had been mostly about moving forward one step at a time and routine.

He had friends and had been oblivious to those trying to be more, but George made him wake up.

His father, though, lit that spark many years before.

The spark to endure and to look around at the world. The spark to not accept the world as it was came from that moment. It was just a father letting his son feel safe enough to sleep but now that boy was a powerful cultivator millions of years later.

Lind felt the area snap into place right next to his professions. Most of his skull was now full of such a location but at the heart of it, there was a change.

The Harmonic Core became fully like his dragon humanoid form. His exterior self was human and the 2 forms were no longer separate.

The core area cleared of the last bit of the storm as a throne appeared. It had connections flowing outward to each part of his mind.

The Harmonic Core smiled and took a seat. Emerald light flowed outward and his own body felt lighter than ever before. He also finally recognized what he had been missing.

The process of filling in the storm in his skull was not just about the proper way to use his power, but to resolve any lingering discrepancies in his heart. He knew himself inside and out without question now.

As the power settled, his dantian changed entirely. It now became a bright emerald closer to his harmony with the power of the 9 Mysteries fully integrated.

Lind snapped open his emerald eyes as his human body shifted around him. The dirty blonde hair was replaced with bright emerald once more. His skin became perfect jade stronger than any steel. His eyes remained human in shape but the faint glint of a dragon was clear.

His robes changed from the simple gray to an ever flowing emerald mixed with other colors. His thoughts could change its quality in an instant.

The human Lind Frey and dragon Lind Frey were truly one. He was himself completely.

He roared at that point and it shook the hold. The 7 Seeds far below resonated and the hold became more lively!

Heaven and Earth rejoiced and its presence increased. The rich Qi increased and many felt enlightenment fall on them in all directions.

Lind felt it all and smiled. He then slowly stood up and knew he had reached the peak of the Demi Tier. He felt the bottleneck but it was not absolute. He needed enlightenment or something to push him.

The obvious step was already in motion. The Bastard awaited him. Lind was not a fool, he had power but experience was sorely lacking. He needed to train and he needed to prepare.

The next time they met would be the last one way or the other. Once he had all he needed, it would be time to head out and end the conflict forever.

"Just a little longer, Bastard. Just a little longer and I am coming for your head!" Lind snarled as he shot into the sky. It was time to find his limits!
